RE: MICHIGAN RALLIES for 2010

I am also open to suggestions of other places to go to...I was looking in the Adrian, MI and sourrounding areas but have not found anything so far that thrills me (save the comments on the Monroe KOA and Totem Pole parks - been there done that)...

RE: Microwave help please

Might also want to invest in some kind of surge protection for the entire RV to prevent this happening in the future...

RE: RV Repair for an unfortunate series of events

Tough question to answer...the dealer is stepping up to repiar the damage but as for the wetness behind did you figure out how much of the underlayment is wet? I would get with the dealer and find out how much is wet and what needs to be repaired and then sit down with the dealer and work out some kind of plan to repair the delamination (which you know is coming)...maybe the dealer is willing to work with you on the total cost to repair the delamination also?

RE: MICHIGAN RALLIES for 2010

I'm looking at a few different places right now...Clearwater Campground in Ortonville (thanks Mark) is an interesting option...also highly considering Camp Lord Willing in Monroe....
I will let everyone know when plans are finalized....tentative plan is sometime around the first or second week of May 2010

RE: Remote Start for Onan 5500

Actually there are many choices out there
1. Onan with or without temp inputs.
2. Xantrex
3. Magnum Energy
4. Solar Converters Universal Generator Start -basic no frills unit
http://www.solarconverters.com/product_frame.html
Under $300.00 at solarseller.com
5. Intellitec
Don't jump to fast to dispute what I said above...if you re-read what I typed that I assumed his genny was already built-in and if so the EC-30W would be his best choice since it is wireless...I stated that the 2 options were the only ones really available for his situation...I never said there were not other options but those involve some major rewiring...

RE: Remote Start for Onan 5500

I'm assuming you have the built-in Onan so your choices are:
(1) EC-30W which is a remote wireless started available for the Onan - supposed to install in 30 minutes or less - cost of $499 + $50 for a remote harness specific to your Onan model
(2) Xantrex also makes a remote starter but not sure about this one...
These are your best options since your Onan is already wired into your RV...
Future plans for ourselves will be the EC-30W...EC-30W

RE: owner financing

Sell it on a land contract which means: (1) you still own the house until the land contract is paid off; (2) you retain the ability to still write off the property taxes on your personal tax return (assuming you itemize); (3) should the buyer default you kick them out and start over...

RE: Gas pump zip code

As opposed to leaving your CC with the attendant (which is not a smart thing to do) leave them your drivers license...I for one will not leave my CC with the atendant nor do I pay at the pump (due to when you first swipe the card it "sets aside" anywhere from $50 to $75 on your CC or debit card which means if you spend $20 on gas it actually costs you anywhere from $70 to $95 until the original set aside amount is taken off (usually 1-2 weeks)...
Inputting your zipcode is an additional security measure for the CC companies (and you)...

RE: Winter mix in diesel fuel

Usually around late September is when they start mixing in the anti-gel stuff...
One thing to remember is if you head down south during the winter and you plan on heading back north before winter breaks the stations down south do not have the winter "blend" diesel so remember to add an anti-gel to your tank prior to returning up north until you can refill from a northerly fuel station...

RE: RESISTALL PROTECTION

I don't plan on getting the package especially for the price they want but I have to convince the wife that it is not worth the money...I compare this offering from them the same way I view extended warranties, PMI mortgage insurance, etc., etc = not worth my time and expense

RESISTALL PROTECTION

We received a letter from our dealer offering a product to protect the interior and exterior of our 5er...
The letter states ResistALL can protect the interior and exterior of your 5er and when applied on the outside it "eliminates the need to wax your RV twice a year...and will notwaer off or melt off like wax does at 120 degrees...
Since we have never heard of ResistALL I am turning to you...have you ever used or had this applied? I'm open to any answers, suggestions, etc...

RE: generator options

First I have never opted for a propane generator...very expensive option as the propane is used fast...
The second half is I would opt for the generator that matched the fuel on your tow vehicle whether that be gas or diesel...when we bout our new 5er last year the only option was a built-in Onan 5500 gas gnerator which is wonderful - runs everything in the 5er
