RE: Here is something to chew on.......

Very well put burbman! wonder why Toyota cant compete with GM on their fullsize suvs ???? People just don't give a rip about supporting spending the second biggest amount of money next to house, and letting profits go out of country!! They just don't care !! unless it effects their job or family members jobs. Go ahead and slap that American flag on that foreign jobber !! and then complain about the country you live in.

RE: Here is something to chew on.......

This is what I have been telling a lot of family and friends. I feel strongly about buying American autos, and before I get worked up debating this with my friends that insist on foreign, I look at the fact that GM sells the most autos each month. That puts a smile on my face!! They must be doing something right!! Ford is right there too. BUY AMERICAN !!! I bet your grandpa did !!!!!!

RE: Looking to buy my first duramax.

the owner of the dealer is a friend and his shop just put 8nnew injectors in. His cost was 2500 bucks. He let me take truck home and drive it for few days. The truck is amazing !!! runs perfect and has an escalade dash cluster. The web site is craseautoconnection if u ant to check it out. I am leaning toward not getting it even though I want it bad. My suburban does a great job towing and hauling all five of us around. I just cant get out of a suburban. Need duraburb to build me a duramax suburban!!

Looking to buy my first duramax.

I am looking at a 03 crewcab GMC duramax loaded. It has 270,000 miles and it just had 8 new injectors put in. Runs and looks great!! few cosmetic issues but I can get truck for 11,500. I feel this is a good price. Any thoughts ???? it is 4x4

RE: GMs new secret weapon......LOL

In case you didn't know, buick in china is like bmw here. They really like the buicks. Guess the quality must be pretty good and they are a change from the cookie cutter cars found there.

RE: GMs new secret weapon......LOL

GM downsized and had to get rid of a lot of dealerships. That was inevitable and behind them. Now they continue to move forward and like many who have forclosed , learn on what not to do, and keep a tighter grip on staying in green. Fact of life ! all huge companys will see financial problems at one time or another. ALL of the big three have had their moments.

RE: GMs new secret weapon......LOL

The GM haters will hate the fact that they are on top every month! Not to mention they Kick butt in large suvs. They have the suburban the longest running nameplate since 1935-2013. Camaro outsells mustang almost every month, and the enclave, acadia, and traverse together out sell many other crossovers. I am very excited for the new trucks and Suvs GM has soon to hit showrooms. No doubt in my mind they will continue to be on top !

Lets just say there are many duramax trucks out there with near 1 million miles on the clock. That motor has been proven like the cummins has !!

RE: Exhaust manifold bolts on my high mile suburban ??

Exhaust issues not too bad. Wont leave you on side of road. Just put some high temp puddy epoxy up manifold and it hardend and now no leak from broken bolt. Will do all new when it gets worse, and have been soaking the existing bolts so they retain their integrity.

RE: Questions on Duramax purchase

go on ebay and compare. Just punch up duramax crew cab and see what shows up. If truck is a 9 out of 10 18grand would be not too bad considering the truck was prob 50 grand new.

RE: Exhaust manifold bolts on my high mile suburban ??

Yes head of bolt is missing on both. I sprayed soap water near the gasket and it was bubbling at that point. Slight bubbling that went away after 5 min of manifold heating up. Will probably have all replaced and then maybe get another 200,000 miles out of that set. That would put me at 400,000 miles, and NO car payment is the best feeling I have ever had!!

RE: Exhaust manifold bolts on my high mile suburban ??

I am going to pack some high temp puddy epoxy where the gasket meets the head. This might sound crazy, but the missing bolts have allowed the manifold to backoff the block ever so slightly. I figured until more break if they do, This will keep gasses from coming through. I plan on soaking other bolts to keep their integrity. With 200,000 miles this to me is not a huge deal I could live with a small exhaust leak with how well this engine still performs.

RE: "Little things to know" about 2500 series Suburbans/Yukons?

Dick, your 08 2500 burb should have no challenge with 7500 pounds. Do you tow in 3rd ?? only use cruise on flat land?? What rear end ?? 373 I would think. Have had every combo of suburban and have towed with all . The only one I didn't care for was my 05 with the 342 rear end. Right now I have a 2000 with 200,000 miles , and it has a 373 rear end.

Exhaust manifold bolts on my high mile suburban ??

My 2000 burb 5.3 has 200,000 miles and I hear a slight exhaust leak from the back of manifold on both sides. It is very slight and goes away when it heats up slightly. When inspecting bolts I notice the far back bolt head on both pass and drivers side is gone. Question is, anyone replace these ??? or all bolts??? How much to have done in shop ?? Thanks for any insights.
