RE: 5th Wheel Travel with Large Dogs

Our Mountain Dog rides in/on the rear seat of our crew cab truck. I built a platform to fill in behind the center console and driver seat. I left it just low enogh to put a small old folded quilt on top. She can sit on the seat, or lay down and put her head on the console. I keep a "Seat Savers" cover on the rear seat. This has worked for 5yrs including a trip to Alaska. Mark

RE: Camping World Greenwood IN.. Backs out of sale!

Humm!!!! very interesting. i had some service work done last year & they broke things & then told me i had to pay for them. i reported it to Marcus & was offered a small refund but the STRANGE part was the CHECK was issued by SIRPILLA RV SALES LLC. makes me wonder who really operates the RV sales dept. BTW--i'll never use their service dept. again it "SUCKS" Sirpilla is the rv dealer that operates that particular Camping World. They have been in business for many years. That said, we recently bought a new Redwood 5th whl. We live 7 miles from Sirpilla who sell the brand, but didn't buy from them due to a poor expierence buying our Lance TC from them. Mark

RE: Redwood RV fifth wheel 36RE

We have owned our Redwood 36RE for 2 weeks. We like the trailer. That said, it is like any other RV, some good, some bad, most have some problems but are ok. Everything works on ours, but the caulking on the roof wouldn't pass Redwoods annual inspection requirement. Mark

RE: anyone towing 12000 lb 5th wheel with 3/4 ton pick up

I wouldn't have a problem with 14k max on a 3/4 ton, just not a gasser. Mark

RE: front end livingrooms

We just bought a new Redwood. While we didn't buy a FL wegave it a lot of thought. We didn't want the steps from the kitchen. Mark

RE: Satellite options

We've had to use our antenna at many CG's with cable because of poor quality or it didn't work. Mark

RE: Dog friendly parks Cape Cod-Maine

In Bar Harbor you can take your pooch into most downtown shops and nearly all outdoor restraunt seating. Very dog friendly. Mark

RE: Quick Roof compared to Eternabond

I didn't see it out of the package so didn't think about it being an asphalt based adhesive. That in it's self may never be a problem. I used to use several different products to weatherproof fiberglass insulated duct. These were asphalt based and had long service life. I do use Proflex caulk. My Lance has a rather tall extrusion across the front where the filon meets the aluminum. This causes water to puddle behind it. Water found a way in last fall even though the caulking seemed to be good. I just wondered if anyone had used it. Mark

Quick Roof compared to Eternabond

My TC has an aluminum roof and I want to reseal it. I came across this product, QuickRoof. Has anyone used it or possibly both? How do they compare? The QR has an aluminum finish to it which might not work in some places. The cost is much less than EB. Mark

RE: Can you leave the hitch on the trailer?

We just purchased a new 5er and I was thinking of doing this also. My thoughts on getting it remounted in the truck are, to back under and lower to slightly off or just touching. Then release the hitch, raise the trailer then line up the hitch and install the pins. It might help to pull the truck back out a bit. Does this make sense to anyone. Mark

RE: Duramax DPF Plugged ? ? ?

No problems with my 08. The Duramax seems to have a reputation for tolerating extended idleing better than the others. Mark

RE: Dodge, Truck Camper and Spare

Not sure how the Dodges winch is set up, but on my Chevy and current GMC, I removed the plastic tube between the winch and bumper. I now use the factory length that goes in the winch with a 3/8 drive ratchet and short extension, and lower it from under the truck. The factory pieces have square openings and I ground the extension end to slide in. 14 seasons and 2 trucks and have not needed it. Might not work at all though for you. Mark

RE: Daytona 500 traffic question

I don't think you'll have much problem in the afternoon on Saturday. Not as big a crowd and the traffic shoud be earlier. Mark

RE: 2015 trip to the Arctic Circle

We went from OH and turned around at the Arctic Circle on the Dalton in 08. 12,200 miles total with a gasser. Gas for the trip averaged $4.99 a gal. The high was $6.29 a gal in the Yukon. This was after factoring currency and litres to US. We averaged 10 mpg. Mark
