RE: Installed some torklift tiedowns

Awesome. And when' the time comes, get some FastGuns. You will love them if you are currently using turnbuckles.

Looking for Roof Storage ideas

I have a truck camper but I suppose this topic is not limited to that section. What types of roof storage do you use and is it water tight? How is it fastend to the roof? And if you were to do it again, what would you do different?
I was thinking of a car topper to put up on mine but I'm a little aprehensive about attaching it by screwing it into the roof and if I would actually hit a support beam to hold the unit up there while traveling down the road.
I searched the forums for "roof storage" but it turned up nothing.

RE: My possible first Truck Camper! What do you guys think?

I have the same truck as you but the 4x4 diesel. My lance 1010 weighs in at 3500# loaded, according to the coop scale.but i don't believe it. I have overload springs and truck tires to help with the weight. I have slight sway and 3" of squat in the rear. My overloads barley engage so I modified them as others on this form have. I have yet to see if it helps.
From what the previous owner said to you on why he is selling it, I would say you are inheriting his problems. There are lots of campers for sale out there. Write down the features you like and see what else is out there. It would be a good idea just to look.

RE: Costco has a pretty small 6000 btu AC now

It is nice to be able to find a small AC unit such as a 6000 unit. When I was looking for the master bedroom the smallest I could find was 8000.

RE: looking for a truck camper for a toyota tacoma

I don't know if the OP has been back for his answeres. I sure hope he comes back for advice and see what a great site this is. And to let us know what he decided for a camper.

RE: looking for a truck camper for a toyota tacoma

Are you looking to buy new or used? Or I should add old as in 80's model. I sold mine for $1800. Fridge, stove, heater, battery, converter, sink with hand pump, 3jacks, great shape. Found it on CL and sold it on CL.

RE: looking for a truck camper for a toyota tacoma

Sold my 80's model Taxan last year. Pop up, no bath. Measure between your wheel wells and look for one that will fit.
You can search my posts as I think I asked the same question a couple of years ago.

RE: looking at a 2001 Lance 1030

I have the 2000 1010 model and plan to have it for many years. Not sure of the difference between the 1010 & the 1030 but for the Lance year and the other newer brands I looked at, Lance was superior on quality. $5400 for mine and no genny.

RE: TC and awnings

Found this thread after doing a search as I am contemplating a side awning. My camping habits are to drop the camper off the truck for 3 days at state parks. I think a side canopy would do good for me. Here is one video that makes the install look easy enough on a vanagon, I may think the TC would be similar. http://youtu.be/LDSH1rY4lbo
I have not seen any prices at the factory sites I've visited, what prices have you've seen?

RF frequancy interference with jack cotroll

My camping neighbor has a Lance camper with electric jacks that use an Atwood remote control. It only worked for a minute and then stopped his key fob for his Volkswagen and his Dodge truck also stopped working. he moved his Volkswagen a few hundred feet away from his camp site and the key fob work again. What causes this interference? Other campers using electronics?

RE: Tie Downs

Can someone explain how they adjust? The camper is never in exactly the same spot so I've always failed to see how they don't require adjustment like a turnbuckle.
Granted, I have only used mine twice since I got them. But my camper lands no more than 1/2" from side to side on the bed when loaded one time to the next. If they would need an adjustment I cannot see more than one turn of the hook bolt.
I purchased a 4 pack of aluminum Master long shank locks for mine. One key fits all 4 locks but I the key does not come out when unlocked. For the $25 I spent on the Masters I should have purchased the locks from Torklift.

MN Ben, are you upgrading your TC?
Dome, sure is a whole lot better than, chains & turnbuckles!
No, maybe in 10 years, but I'm keeping the Fastguns when I do.

RE: Tie Downs

I like mine! No more agjusting the turnbuckles evertime I hook up. Load/Unload time is cut down considerably. I am sure I will have these for my lifetime (ie: they dont go with the camper when upgrading).

RE: I'm under truck and need help with trailer wires

Actually there is an 8 gauge white and black that is running towards the front of the truck for positive and ground. I am assuming red is aux., but not sure.
