Ditto akrv about the wind. Stayed in Mission (different CG) in 2006. The wind NEVER stopped blowing, but the temps were warm. Huge flea markets; great Mexican food; lots of places to go birdwatching. We would not spend the whole winter there BC of the constant wind, but when I asked the regulars abt it they said "What wind??".

Fall of Giants by Ken Follett - It's a historical novel beginning just before WWI. Follett is a master at placing his reader into the mindset of the times. I like the contrasts he presents with stories centered on English royalty, Welsh coalminers, and Russian factory workers - how they lived & what they thought about the impending world war.

GO IRISH!!! They have a good shot, because SEC is overrated this year. Key SEC bowl appearances so far... LSU and FLA both got whupped. Georgia won, but against a so-so Nebraska.

Thanks. I tried it out and it sure is easy to use.
I never knew what I was paying for gas in Canada. Once I converted price/liters/gals/Can$/US$ for one of my tickets after the trip, I decided I was better off not knowing.

How about the Wheel of Fortune scandal? A southern lady guessed a puzzle, saying it as a southerner would "Seven Swans a Swimmin'" - the judges said that was incorrect. I wonder what if someone with a lisp guessed "Thevin thwans a thwimming"??

I had a band back then. We played Hendrix, Zep, the Stones. No Janis tunes – no one could sing them. I remember practices. Weed was imbibed. Long long jams that rocked to our bones. Then pizza.
Didn’t say I was proud of it – it’s just my life & how it happened.
All that peace & love we sang about never happened. Turns out the world is not an easy place to change.

You were blessed to have parents who did that for their kids. My parents took us all over the country on station wagon trips. Us bratty kids whined about having to go - but now, I am so thankful they put up with us. Even though we weren't always the best traveling companions. The grand canyon, yellowstone, the rockies - every child should get the chance to see the majestic beauty that abounds in our land.

We live in the country - so no zoning laws. Our neighbors put in a pig pen at the very front of their lot. Between our house and the next house down the hill. Can't be good for anybody's property values???!!

Reading a nonfiction: Physics of the Future by Michhio Kaku. He predicts what kind of scientific advances will occur by the end of the century. A fascinating read - if he's right the next generation will have some amazing technology at their fingertips. Hope they are smart enough to use it wisely.
