RE: Dumb Question re: outlets

Marie, you are correct in assuming that the 110v outlets are only used when plugged in to shore power, unless you have an inverter unit. The converter unit in most RV's allows for the switching to 12v for lights, and other 12v devices. Hope this helps. By the way, there are no dumb questions. We have all started to learn about these things at some time. Macktee

Used Motorhome parts suppliers

Some time ago I saw a webb site on this forum that had used mh parts. I have searched but can't find any. Could someone please attach a link to one or more of these places. Thanks, Macktee

RE: Aqua hot question

Thanks for all the comments, there are many I will use in future. Having said that, the 30amp has no problem keeping the furnaces working, but it does not give enough power to heat the water on its own. I talked to a certified tech today and he has said that 30amp is not enough to light up the one element, and certainly not both of them. He said in order to use the electricity alone, for furnaces and hot water, I must be hooked up to 50amp, or use the diesel. He told me if I can afford the coach, then I should bite the bullet and pay the extra for the parks that have 50amp. So I won't be dealing with that arrogant SOB anytime soon. Thanks again for your comments. Macktee

Aqua hot question

We have been travelling for over a month now, and it has been quite cool or cold most of the time. I have used the diesel switch up to now, as we have not had more than 30 amp power in any of the CGs we have been in. If I ran the unit on electric, for the furnace and hot water, we wouldn't get much hot water. But on diesel it all worked fine. How do others deal with not having 50 amp power when it is cold out. I have read that it does not work that well under 50amp, but I sure hate sharing my diesel exhaust with the neighbor. Macktee

RE: First Time Snowbirding Experiences

I would do exactly as you said. Take off and wing it, get a feel for all the areas, but what ever you do, have fun, and live life to the fullest. Macktee

RE: Got bad news today, now depressed!

Just drove back to CG from Barrie, ON. north on Hwy 11 and no accumulation on the road yet, but when you look at the car dealers vehicles, Wow is this really spring or just another month of poor sledding. Macktee

RE: What Ontario parks in 2013 is everyone planing on going to

We just moved from Hammock Harbour near Orillia yesterday. We moved into Heidi's, north of Barrie for the next 12 days. Then it is off to Quinty's on May5th. Back to Heidi's on the 15th thru 21st. After that we go to Cedar Beach, near Stouville thru June 8th. Then off to the Brighton KOA thru June 15. Lastly, we will be in Victoria Park, by the beach in Cobourg thru 22nd of June. Then heading for Alberta on the 23rd. Does that answer your question. Take care. Happy RVing. Macktee

Looks like two V8 engines and very beefed up frame. I would think he is towing it. Macktee

RE: Sault Ste Marie to Calgary

Just finished a journey yesterday, from Sylvan Lake to Barrie. Ended up staying 3 nights in Thunderbay at the only CG that had one lot open. All others say May1st before openening. That is all the way thru Manitoba and Ontario. We are even having problems here finding anything open. We have one for a week that is almost underwater. Anyway, back to your trip. I stayed in Canada, only because I don't want to burn up any days for when we go south for the winter. I really hate the condition of the roads in Manitoba, and Ontario. I think it is embarassing that the TransCanada is in this kind of shape. I'm sure the snow and cold weather will be gone by the time you leave but who knows this year. Good Luck and safe travels. RE: 40 foot tipping over

I really hope I never have to find out. I've only been in 65 mph winds and that wasn't fun. Macktee

Great info. I'm sure many of us will run across this issue in our travels. We will then think of you. Thanks. Macktee

RE: State Farm Ins for RV

Supercharged, I have used them for emergency road service. I pay it up front and my agent pays me right away. I have done this about 5 times. I have never had to call the 800 #. Macktee

RE: Camping World Service in Tampa, FL

Been there done that with CW and never again, way to big for there britches in my opnion, lousy service after the sale........ To bad you think ALL CW's are the same. Do you realize how many CW service centers there are? Obviously not!! This forum is a help place where people with issues can interact with CW to get answers and hopefully satisfaction. It's really pathetic how some come in here and post comments that insinuate that the entire company is terrible. Get a grip. I agree whole heartedly and could not have said it better. Macktee

RE: How Far North?

I have lived and/or worked in BC, Alberta, and Sask. We took off on a trip to Ontario, following the Northern route on Hwy1/17. This is my first time driving this route, and although they are still calling for snow possibly, this is a beautiful drive. Staying in Dryden tonight. Brandon,Man. last night. Macktee

RE: Sell the house or not?

I felt that if we kept the house, it would be too easy to say we can go home if we don't like something about fulltiming. We want to make a true commitment. This is only our thoughts, and do not think any different of the desires of others. We are brand new at it and are comfortable so far, even with the few problems we have faced so far. Macktee
