RE: Looking for a diesel guru

I was under the impression that the turbo either worked or didn't. If I'm wrong then maybe this could be the problem. By the way, I should have included that this an '05 Monaco Dipolmat with a 400 hp 8.9 cummins engine and a 6 speed Allison transmission. The mh has about 44000 miles. There is some sort of a turbo controller, a waste gate valve, so that it maintains the proper pressure.

RE: Looking for a diesel guru

Maybe your turbo? Brett is a good diesel guy. Maybe he will read and respond.

RE: tire question

Need to replace all four at the same time. They need to be a matched set or they will wear quickly.

RE: How Do I Charge, and Maintain 2 New 6 Volt Batteries???

No. Do not run them below 50% or you run the risk of shortening their life. Two 6 volt batteries equals one large 12 volt battery. Think of that way and you'll be fine. So the reason I made the move to 6V batteries was to get more AH and life in the hopes of making through an entire weekend without having to charge (I will be doing nothing but boondocking and I won;t be able to charge most of the time). More then likely I will be running these batteries down to about dead to make it through a weekend ... I need all the juice I can get out of them to make it a couple days. So there will be no way I can only use 50% of the battery and then that be it ... I need all of it to make it a couple days. Obviously this can be done but I guess what you are saying is that lessens the life of the batteries doing that (I guess that will just have to be the case though cause I will be draining them down to nothing by week end). Maybe you will need 4 or even 6 batteries then. I run mine down to 12.2 then recharge using the generator. Maybe you need to get a gen. Many use the Honda 2000 because it is quiet compared to others. RE: How Do I Charge, and Maintain 2 New 6 Volt Batteries???

Hooked in series they yield about 12.6 volts when fully charged. Best to recharge at 50% discharge which is 12.2 volts. You can hook them in series and use a 12 volt charger.

RE: battery problems

My BOOST switch was miswired causing both sets of batteries to be connected all the time. Fixed the wiring error and alright now.

RE: First time post: tire issues inside pass. rear

The passenger inside dual takes a beating. When you run off the road on that side which is easy to do the inside tire is carrying All of the weight. That is quite a load. Get the proper load range tire. I put in a little extra air in the rears for just that reason.

RE: Problems with batteries

A good rule of troubleshooting is to go back to the last place you were. And that is the battery wiring. If it worked right before and not now, I would highly suspect the battery wiring.

RE: Extended Warranty

My coach is almost 9 years old. I have never had an extended warranty and I am money ahead. It's like buying an insurance policy. From what others have said many times certain things are not covered. Read the fine print carefully. The ones that sell them make a big commission.

RE: Generator/Electrical

If Your generator was not putting out, the transfer switch would Not switch and you would still have shore power. Jerry

I would call the manufacturer and ask what they thought.

RE: Killed my solar panels.......

I'm no solar expert but it seems to me that if the panels hook to the controller and the output of the controller goes to the batteries, then the reversal would only affect the controller and not work its way back to the panels. Is there a way to measure the panels with the controlled disconnected?

RE: Generator/Electrical

If you don't have any power with Gen, then your transfer switch is switching like it should. Your problem is downstream.

RE: Stupid question about power

You can plug into either safely at a campground. May have to use an adapter for the 50amp. Do NOT plug in to a 30amp electric Clothes Dryer outlet at home or anywhere else. They are 220volts and will smoke you rig.
