RE: Airbags

I was having a little problem with mine. I ordered a set of Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement blocks from Etrailer. They are not air bags but hard rubber blocks. They improved my towing tremendously, tv does not sag now. Yes. when I hit a speed bump without the trailer I can tell they are there.

RE: Poole Knobs campground

Poole's Knob is about 9 miles from where I live. Never have camped there but have walked and driven through it a few times. I would say the spots on the western side would be better. I would look up the campground site on Recreation.gov, get a phone number, and call the host there. They should be able to help you in what you are looking for. We camped at Seven Points a few weeks ago and loved it. Time wise I would say you can get to Brentwood faster from there than Poole's Knob. Check it with Mapquest....

RE: P2 Brake Controller

I have a P2 that I installed last year. No problems with it. The brakes worked great, checked it out good when I had a blow out on my tv. I checked mine with the lever when going down the street at the first stop sign. I had to adjust it a little on the last trip.

RE: Rusty at backing up TT

Hook it up and find an empty parking lot to practice your backing. I turn around and face mine when backing into my drive, something I did at work in the old days. I don't know how good you get, you will find one that you will have to think about. I did, my driveway on my last trip, most of the time, I hit it on the first try. The last time I was in a hurry, did not take my time. My hardest was backing up at a filling station last year because the people in front was taking their time.

RE: Nashville, TN

We were at Seven Points a few weeks ago, spent 7 nights there. Most of the spots are nice, just a few that you might have to level up a little. It is about 20 miles from where we live. All mentioned will be about the same distance to the Franklin area.

RE: Almost lost the awning

For traveling with the awning rolled up, I wrap Velcro cinch straps around each awning arm/tension rod assembly. The awning can not by physically rolled down without removing the straps. Cost was about $2. I use the same thing on mine, I think Camco makes them, got mine off of Amazon.com.

RE: First road trip

I have a 5.3 in my Silverado, I average about 12 mpg also by maintaining my speed around 60.

RE: First Trip with the TT = Sucessful

Always be aware of things, good that your first trip was a success. I still forget a few things when out, always take a second look. On leveling, I have some boards, and other things, even the leveler blocks. Last week I backed into a spot, jacked up the tongue to get the ball off, and I was level. I thought, something had to be off but it wasn't. I have several small bubble levels placed in the front and the rear so I can check before unhooking.

RE: TT Stabilizers

I take my DeWalt Drill motor and run my up and down while spraying some WD40 on them, so far no problems.

RE: Best options for Sewer Kit Storage

My used Puma came with a storage tube installed under the back bumper. I have seen them at Camping World. I use a short hose that works most of the time when I am camping or dumping. I am an extra one that I keep stored in a plastic tote in my front storage compartment. I have only used it once. I did take my dremel and ground down the ears on the hose so that it would fit into the tube, still works as it was designed.

RE: electric brake controller

I haved a Prodigy P2, bought from Etrailer, watched their video and installed it myself, no problem. They have great customer relations. I installed it last year, haven't touched it since then.

RE: Newbie here & just got a new TT

Yes, stay in the driveway for a night then venture out. We bought ours last year in January, couldn't wait to get it out. We had a few months so I was inside there thinking about everything and trying to get a could plan together when using it. Our first trip was at a state park about 25 miles from home, we slowly ventured out. Our first big trip was over a mountain, through Atlanta, GA and out to Savannah, GA. Our first trip this year was back to the same state park, near our house. I checked things out at home but just wanted to be close to home in case I needed to repair something.

RE: Truck fuel milage question

I would say the best way to conserve fuel is to watch your speed. I do better right at 60 mph considering what I am pulling behind me.

RE: Below freezing for One Night

Good advice on unhooking the water...was camping a few weeks ago, had the fresh water tank filled for toilet flushing, forgot to unhook the water outside. Next morning we had a little freeze up, I unhooked and then it unthawed later. Was thinking about using the DW's hair blower to unthaw but nature beat me too it. You should be fine as everyone mentioned....

RE: floor repair

So far I have repaired two soft spots in my floor. I had to peel back the carpet in one area where the bed is, near the front door. I cut the linoleum out so I could put it back down after the repair was completed. Mine extended under a cabinet into the front storage compartment. I removed the damage wood back to a good area. I ripped 2 x 4's with my table saw to about 2 x 3. I then screwed them into the others, cleaned the area and put down some preservative. I cut the 3/4 OSB to fit and screwed it down, replaced the linoleum and carpet. I then had one in the bathroom area where I had to remove the vanity and sink. I made sure I had the water connections in hand before I cut the lines so I could remove the vanity and sink. I did the floor repair like I had done before, then reinstalled everything. I recently did my leak check on my connections, so far no leaks. They don't make it easy for repairs, sometimes you have to get a cup of coffee or several and just plan out your repair.

RE: getting started...

I driveway camp all the time. I have a sign out back that say's Happy Hollow Campground. I call the DW at work and she asks what I am doing, oh, I am at Happy Hollow. She knows I am outside laying on the couch or something. Enjoy, sometimes you can have as much fun camping nearby as you do traveling to some far off place. We camped last year at several campgrounds that were about 40 miles from home at the most.

RE: Organizing front pass-through storage area

I also use the plastic bins to store my stuff in, water accessories in one, spare hose for draining gray and black in another, plus a bin for electical stuff, lights, extension cord, small shovel and a lights. I store two chairs in there also in their bags. In the rear I have our outdoor carpet, easy up, bleach bottle, more chairs, umbrella, spare blocks, etc. I redid our front compartment recently with new linoleum. I put some hooks up to hold our sign, used velcro to attach my spare awning rod. I store my WDH and stuff in my TV tool box. I do need to reorganize my front when it warms up some.

RE: Having concerns over towing weight / payload capacity

I tow a Puma 25RS with my 2007 Cheverolet Silverado LT. I added a new set of Michelins after I blew a left rear tire on my truck. Tires had less than 16 K on them, dry rot. I also recently added some Timbren rear suspension bags, not air, but rubber to it. They really made a difference in towing. I also installed a Prodigy P2 last year. Happy Camping and enjoy...you will be like me, always adding something.
