RE: CA-1 through Vandenburg AFB

One really cool thing (if I remember correctly) is that on the embankment above the road you can see the groove they cut in to make it wide enough for the wings of something (space shuttle?) that had to use the road. They were planning on launching the shuttle from Vandenburg to get polar orbits. Never worked out.

RE: Can anyone identify this Coach..? Identified Chinook 1973

It looks like an early 70's Chinook, I think. They used to use the same end caps for both front and back. That transmission selector looks very Dodge-like. I believe this is correct. http://cybernest.net/chinook_motorhome.htm We have a Winner!

RE: Wrangler towing with Roadmaster

Thanks all. There are some who have bolted up the mount to the bumper and reinforced the bolts with backing plates. I am going to keep looking for either cheaper (used) roadmaster parts or making up my own.

Wrangler towing with Roadmaster

I just bought a Jeep Wrangler to replace my old toad. I have a roadmaster towbar, XL. Do I have to buy the special base plate mounts from Roadmaster to mount the system to the Jeep. Can't I just use the two mounts that attach to the base plates directly to the bumper? I don't want to spend $399 plus shipping and tax just to have some place to mount the bar to when I really don't care if the mounts are visible or not.

RE: Oregon and Washington Coast Camping in August

Thank you for the replys. We actually don't have a preference for hookups or going without. Just a pad of some sort is good. If we arrive on a Friday early do you think we can get a spot for more than one day?

Oregon and Washington Coast Camping in August

I'm a SoCal native and I know that if I want to camp along the coast here in the summer I had better make reservations last year. DW and I are going to travel up the coast through Oregon and Washington State this August and are planning on doing this Without Reservations. Is this advisable? Are the campgrounds along the coast of those states always full like here in SoCal? I don't want to spend every night at a casino or truck stop. Any recommendations on RV parks if that is the way we should go? Thanks.

RE: Willets to Fort Bragg

Can you say Logging Trucks! And No, they really don't care.LOL!....Since the mill closed over 10 yrs ago, logging trucks are non-existance...Hwy 20 from Willits to Ft Bragg is a piece of cake for an RV and a preferred rt to the coast I guess it's beeen longer than I thought since I was last there:D

Two Thermostats and delay Question

When I am hooked up to 50 AMP service and want to run both A/C units I can go to the thermostat in the bedroom and turn on that A/C and it starts right up. Then I go to the front A/C thermostat and turn it on and there is a long delay before that unit goes on. If I turn the front unit on first, without the rear unit on, there is still a delay before it goes on. The thermostats both say time delay but I don't understand how they work. Can anyone enlighten me?

RE: If you have a LARGE family and want a class A

Yes, the driver was the cook. There was a cooking area in the rear outside. I still can't believe that this rig went through the rock tunnel going into the park. It seemed tight for my Tacoma pickup.

If you have a LARGE family and want a class A

This rig was camped next to us in El Portal. There were 24 German tourists and two drivers. The rear had bunks for all to sleep. No bathroom. Count the windows on the left side! The tourists said they had traveled all over in these busses. South America also. http://s19.postimage.org/ebhrgrfzn/Big_RV_left.jpg http://s19.postimage.org/vni4279gz/Big_RV_right.jpg
