RE: Hwy 50 across Nevada

I've been across NV on 50 several times. Only thing I don't like is it's a 2 lane with little or no shoulder in a lot of places. I usually overnight and fuel up in Ely.

RE: Minnesota to Ca. Redwoods

Sort of doing your post question myself in late August. Heading to Portland for a few days in the Columbia Gorge, then over to Astoria for a couple then down Hwy 101. You didn't say how far down you were planning on going. I've spent time up around Crescent City, Klamath, Eureka, Fortuna, and Avenue of the Giants. Oregon has the Ocean, but CA has the trees. My personal favorite for short hikes is Avenue of the Giants. I like to stay at Ancient Redwoods RV park on Ave of the Giants.

RE: Wanted: CA 190 information

Well, you have a problem then and may want to pick another DV entry point.
Leaving Lone Pine (going south/east) and around dry Owens Lake, you'll climb and easy grade over the first range of mountains. However, once on top you will encounter a very steep and twisty down grade with several hair pin turns that leads you down to Panamint Springs and across the Panamint Valley floor and then up another long and steep grade (9%, I think) called Towns Pass to the top of the Panamint Range. Once on top, there is another long and steep (6%) grade that goes from over 5000 ft to 250 ft "below" sea level to Stovepipe Wells in just a few miles.
This hwy is not for the faint of heart, and must have a good running vehicle that is not prone to getting hot during long climbs.
Ron
Totally agree. We left DV heading to Bishop and twisty, narrow with drop offs are accurate. One of the best roller coaster rides in the state. I've done this road several times, it's OK for me , but a lot of work.
DW is a good passenger not much bothers her. Hwy 190 gets her attention :E

RE: Adding an Air Leveling System

My rig has air leveling. I use this feature to get down my steep driveway. The end result is not as firm as jacks and if you have a space that is not fairly level, the air system can be challenged trying to get level. My recommendation is, save the money, be happy with the jacks.
I don't leave my system on. I level then turn it off. Seldom have to make any adjustments, even when staying three months in AZ.

RE: Adding an Air Leveling System

There is a HWH dealer in Lake Havasu City. Give them a call,(928) 453-3040 or (800)223-1779. Pretty sure it's something they could inform you about.

RE: Rpm for a 93 cummins powered Winnebago Adventurer

Here's my issue. The 5.9 Cummins (1993)was governed at 2700 RPM so your RPM reading at 2500 RPM is 63 MPH. According to your post RPM and speed, you couldn't go much faster, doesn't make sence, unless your top speed is about 65 MPH. Either the tach or the speedometer appears to be reading incorrectly.

RE: Rpm for a 93 cummins powered Winnebago Adventurer

Something is wrong. Your 5.9 should be red lining at 2500. Going down the road at 60-65 MPH RPMs should be around 1600 +or- depending on tranny, tire size, etc.

RE: Best route from Fresno CA to Klamath CA

North of Sac, take hwy 20 to 101.
This is your best route. Just make sure you don't go through Sacramento during commute hours.

RE: Accumulator - another pressure question

I have installed the revolution water pump and have left the Jabsco accumulator at factory pressure of 20 psi. Everything seems to be functioning.
With the higher pressure pump (55psi)should I increase the pressure in the accumulator to 30 or more psi, or leave it as is?

RE: CA Hwy 299W - Construction delays

Next phase of Buckhorn?
Yep! Going to be a big project, taking a lot of the twistys out of Buckhorn. Construction area is just west of Whiskeytown Lake to the summit.

CA Hwy 299W - Construction delays

Starting today CA hwy 299W out of Redding toward the coast will have 24/7 traffic control. Delays can be up to an hour. Plan ahead!

RE: Las Vegas, NV to Lee Vining, CA

I would take 95 to Tonopah as you described. The section of 120 you will travel is lightly used. Hardly any traffic last time I traveled it.

RE: Reno, NV to Petaluma, CA

I-80 over the Sierras is in good shape. Construction is pretty much completed. Your route to Petaluma is a good one. I always try to get through the Bay Area between 10am to 3pm.
Traffic from before Sacramento all the way to Petaluma will be heavy all the time. Usually moves pretty well during the mid day. Rush hours are stop and go.

RE: Accumulator - another pressure question

Don't know why I didn't do this in the first place. Called Shurflo tech support. Here is what they recommended. The Revolution series pumps are designed to work without a accumulator. I can either drain the pressure and let it work as a pass through or take it out.
Time to take another look at the plumbing. When the new pump arrives, part of the install will be to first raise the accumulator pressure from 20 to 30 psi and see how it works. If I'm not happy with the performance I'll bypass the accumulator tank completely and remove the tank.
Thanks again for the comments and help.

RE: Accumulator - another pressure question

Thanks for all the information. My accumulator holds 2 gallons. I just ordered a new Sure Flo revolution pump which is OK to use with accumulator. Plumbing will have no problem with 55 lbs.
Will be happy when the 40 psi pump is replaced.

Accumulator - another pressure question

My 2000 Monaco has a accumulator tank in the water system. Does the tank control or regulate the pressure when using the pump, or is it a pass through that delivers whatever pressure the pump delivers.
I want to install a 55 psi pump but have no idea if the accumulator tank can stay or has to be removed to achieve the higher pressure.

RE: Why is gas 60 cents more in same state

Keep dreaming. You're trying to make something simple that is indeed complex. The issues about fuel pricing go way beyond what the oil companies charge.
Cost of delivery, assorted taxes from area to area and state to state, wages, just to name a few, and the list goes on.
