RE: Are there quality RVs that will last?

This Turtle Top has a one-piece roof on this high quality rig I like to call a PLC - personalized low-profile C class. http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u110/burlmart/turtletop.jpg width=500 You can have them customize aone for you. It is probably a good bit roomier inside than most Bs, especially the narrow Sprinter vans. ... and here once again, is our custom Turtle Top built with Bus safety standards steel frame cage. http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs199.snc1/6735_1195784219321_1369941973_552123_3682108_n.jpg

RE: e-books - anyone using one?

I'm very happy with my netbook. I have a netbook, too, but wouldn't read books from it. For one thing, I read in bed at night before going to sleep and I can't imagine trying to hold my netbook up to read! Well... I don't read in bed. I sit in a comfortable chair for hours at a time. For me the netbook is no heavier than a regular hard cover book. I've read dozens of books on it. It also holds a full Encyclopedia, Atlas, Office 7, WiFi, music, videos etc. It's a full reference library in a small package. I have nothing against the Kindle, just be aware there are viable options, don't get caught up in the new technology hype. Here's another vote for a Netbook and I read it while in Bed :) We purchased a Kindle at Costco to try it out, because BIL told me it was much better than a Netbook for eye strain. Returned it. Prefer a Netbook because I read mostly non-friction (History). Many times while reading an e-book, I check Wikipedia or other sources for more detailed background information and then return to the e-book. Or I get tired of reading and use the Netbook to switch on Pandora radio or watch my home cable (live or DRV) with a Slingbox. Heck ... sometimes I even get bored with all of that and tune into RVnet for the latest Walmart camping updates.

RE: Verizon tethered feature, Netflix, and watching movies

While on the road we use a Slingbox, to watch any home cable program (live or DVR recorded) on our Netbook, with a Verizon air card. The Slingbox can control the home cable Set-Top-Box or any other Device, just like when you're at home. Slingbox demo Explaining Slingbox

RE: What is this on my truck?

You guys who say it is just one tire need to look again. There is no way there is a truck or trailer tire that is that big. It has to be 2 tires. They are even on different planes in the picture. Let's ask the OP if he sees 2 tires under there. I bet he does..... My money's on two spares too.

RE: OPTIMA Batterys

I don't know what size batteries your Rig requires but I use Odyssey AGMs because they offered an exact replace for Ford Vans and Pickups (Group 65) http://www.odysseybattery.com/

RE: adding length to a toy hauler

Isn't there a partition wall between the garage area and the living area? If so, would it be possible to make a 12" enclosed bump-out into the living area? Bump-out only needs to as high as the front of the vehicle. Edit ... :S oops ... went back and re-read other posts in detail and see 'others' already suggested moving inner wall forward.

RE: Overtaking speed

By the letter of the law, generally you are not permitted to exceed the posted speed limit to pass another vehicle. Yep that's the law as I understand it ...

RE: Idiot Motor Home driver

70 mph in a moho with a trailer is not safe for anyone. Period. And there we have it, the definitive ruling ;) I'm an unsafe driver.

RE: GPS

Here's a hot set up: Netbook Delorme Software Garmin GPS hand held used as an Antenna with Netbook Verizon Air Card Down load 'free' Google Earth. Use Delorme software for normal GPS routing. Works like a TomTom etc., but a netbook has a much larger viewing screen. Use Google Earth, GPS antenna and Air Card for satellite images of your route, as you drive a long. With Google Earth streaming satellite images, it makes driving at night a whole new experience. Total cost, around $500.00. + Air card service charge. How would you compare the Delmore product to Streets and Trips? My personal endorsement of Delorme would be dated; had Street and Trips about ten years ago and switch over to Delorme. I have a lot of geek GPS friends and they all use Delorme, also on the cable TV show "Storm Chasers" they use Delorme.

RE: e-books - anyone using one?

Depending on the type of reading one enjoys, another option is the "free" ten of thousands, copyright expired books, on the Net. For history enthusiasts, there's a gold mine of free material.

RE: Anyone tried the

I have a verizon mifi2200 and love it. i use it instead of a router. It will handle 5 devices at once. I keep it plugged in to my tower with a usb cord that came with it and use my laptop wifi. works well. so good that i canceled my other internet. no problem with the 5 gb limit unless you download movies or play games on line. Easy to watch your useage also. Is it the same 'speed' as a Verizon Air Card?

RE: Nickle and diming at Campgrounds

Add-ons are the future ... Next year some Super Walmarts are putting in electric hook-up stations, that can be paid for with a credit card swipe.

RE: Any Trailer Tires NOT Made in China?

We had Goodyear Marthon ST tires that were made in New Zealand, but I wouldn't recommend them. I've replaced all my trailer tires with LT Michelin LXT M/S.

RE: Buying Online - info needed

You should be able to make arrangements to have your bank wire the $ to the dealer after you have seen & approved of the unit. That would save you two trips if you like the unit and save you a lot of $ and headache if you don't. No way I would wire the money before seeing the unit. Ditto, this is the way the transaction should be handled. If the funds are wired in the morning they should be credited to the Dealer's account the same day. There isn't really any reason that a Dealer shouldn't take a personal check. A Buyer's check gives the Dealer a purchase funds lien. The Dealer's Bank can call the Buyer's Bank to verify available funds and then have a hold placed for specific amount and check number. But few understand this, so wiring the funds after you have decided to purchase the unit, safely accommodates both parties. Also if you are unsure about the Dealer's financial soundness you may want to check with their Bank, to determine if they have any 'floor plan' liens on the unit, that may require a collateral pledge or secured party lien release.

RE: This Sucks

See that big 2005 Fleetwood Excurision 39S you have in your signature? Take it and move south for the winter. There are many of us here. The ONLY reason I live here is because this is where my wife lives....and she won't go because the kids live here....I'm stuck. Stuck? ... IMHO you got a smart wife that knows what is important to living a meaningful life. But its alway nice for us Northerns who are "Stuck" to visit a warm place for a vacation ;)

another great rally in Wisconsin thanks to everyone that put it together. It sure is quite here now. Looks like you all had a lot of fun. Did you have to winterize your Rigs Saturday night? ;) Got down to 22 degrees here. (Waukesha)
