RE: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

Since the camper is off the truck for more maintenance and with the storms in the Midwest heading my way I decided to put blocks & jackscrews under the camper for more support just in case.
Feeling bad for the folks who have lost everything in those tornadoes.

RE: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

I changed oil & filter, spark plug in the generator. Off loaded the camper, touched up some caulking. Installed a bar on the screen door. Removed the a/c cover to stuff plastic bags in the area to keep the bees out.
Wash & wax is next. I want to replace my excape hatch cover only because of it's age.

RE: what speed do you maintain on the highway ?

While on the highway I tend to drive at 60 m/hr (95 km/hr) and try to stay in the slow lane. 12,000 pounds of fiberglass and metal just does not stop on a dime and as others have said, half the journey is getting there so enjoy the drive.

RE: GPS Mounting on truck dashboard

My Garmin with the beanbag mount kept slipping on my dash so I put velcro on the beanbag and dash. Now it stays put & I can easily remove it for security.

RE: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

I bought the ViAir 450P compressor & a rv screen door cross bar from Camping World. Install will happen when the snow melts.
Now I'm looking for a new escape hatch cover for my Lance which is 9 years old and I feel I should replace it because of it's age.

RE: Leveling on Truck?

I carry two sets of Linx leveling blocks. Works for me and I like how they lock together and give me a ramp when stacked high.

RE: Slideout models, bath use when traveling

It all depends on your situation
We have the lance 1131 same as the 1191 floor plan and yes we can access the bathroom with the slide in, and it’s come in handy. I find it and inconvenience to put the slide out for a couple minutes, but just and inconvenience, nothing else.
We also can access everything else, the fridge, stove, pantry and microwave.
One trip to the Yukon we hit road construction and were waiting for the pilot car up to 15 min.
We were starving and luckily we had pizza subs in the fridge. I hopped out of the truck and into the camper, fired up the gen, took the subs out of the fridge, put in microwave, cooked for 4 minutes, headed back to the truck with nice warm pizza subs and my wife and I sat and had our lunch while waiting for the pilot car, all this with the slide in
You’re on the highway and want a pop, coffee, snacks from the pantry or a quick hot meal it can all be done with the slide in. Hit the next roadside turn-out grab what you want out of the camper and back on the road in no time
Have fun
Dave
Exactly why I still have my 2004 Lance 1161.

RE: Printing forum posts

How are you printing?
I have no problem if I use the "Print" command on the top line of the post (next to the "Notify Moderator" tab.
I get a preview page and can print from there.
If you're trying to "Print screen" or just using "CTRL-P" it may not work as well.
I use the "print" command next to the "notify moderator". I used to be able to print as I carry this printer with me on the road to print members suggestions of places to see & camp.
It's a mystery to me...

RE: Roof Rack Cargo Carriers

I put a Sears pod on my Lance. I had to move the Lance cross bars and glad I had to because they were not tight from the factory.

Printing forum posts

Does anyone else have trouble printing forum posts? My printer works just fine printing elsewhere but when I try to print forum posts it skips line spaces and doesn't print the whole post.

RE: End of the year trip, looking for suggestions in Florida

If you're into uncrowded white sand beaches, historicial forts and watching the Blue Angels practice you might want to read Sleepy's posts about their stay in Fla. But if you only have two weeks that might not work this trip.

RE: lifted truck for big Lance 1191?

What are you trying to accomplish by installing lifts on your truck? I'm with dodgerthedog in wanting to keep my center of gravity as low as possible.

RE: Lance 1161

My 2004 1161 has a propane connection under the wing next to the entrance door.
Too bad you don't have the owner's manual. Have you asked Lance if one is availible?

RE: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

Getting ready to winterize my Lance I went to Walmart yesterday and bought rv anti-freeze. To be sure the anti-freeze wouldn't freeze I put a small container of it in my home freezer overnight. This morning I found it didn't freeze but just turned to a thick slush. Winterizing starts today.

RE: Ramblin' to Alaska

Ralph, I spent a couple nights in Soldotna at Fred Meyer's lot and counted 40+ rv's. While in AK I was impressed with so many gas stations having diesel, dump site, water and propane. Sure made it easier to find all those needed things. Have you found that on your travels?

RE: Camp site light

I have a couple Cabela's LED lanterns. They take 4 D batts. and have a remote. 12 small LEDs. I leave the lantern on the kitchen counter and the remote on the night stand in the cabover.Works great for me.
