RE: New camping buddy....

We figure she'll end up being 70-80lbs when full grown, and we don't have a problem with her snuggly demeanor, actually it's pretty cute.
We've introduced her to the water and she's starting to get the hang of it, and her first 'over her head' experience was hiliarious, as the look on her face read like: "Why is there nothing under my feet, and how do I steer this thing!!??!" Priceless.
Just had her "cone" removed after her spaying surgery and she's much happier without it, although the entertainment value for us as she tried to get around/through things was pretty comical.
We're looking forward to what lies ahead with her by our sides.
Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts.

New camping buddy....

Hi all,
After we lost our first dog Joey last July we decided to take some time to adjust to life without him. We were 'advised' by many friends not to run out and get a new puppy right away which was the best advice we've ever been given. It gave us time to grieve and remember him for the dog he was.
In March we started to think about getting a puppy, and after some careful looking we found Bailey. In reality, she found us, as we were standing in the pen with her and her 6 siblings she was the only one that didn't nip at our hands as we held them out - she gave a little lick and then snuggled down onto our shoes. My son's declared her "the one" and my wife was thrilled to have another female in the house.....finally!!
Anyway, she's turned out to be a real sweetheart with a good sense of goofiness as well.....she's gonna' fit right in with this family!
She's been out camping with us a few times already and she's a gamer. Going to have lots of great times together, although at 6 months now, it'll take some convincing to let her know that there's no such thing as a 50lb lap dog:)
Without further ado, may I introduce our golden lab/retriever Bailey on her maiden voyage back in April.

RE: Canadian vs US Pricing

Before you can register it up here it has to go through an inspection, which involves dropping it off at your local Canadian Tire store, paying the fee (less than $100 I believe), having it looked over, and voila, there's your CSA approved unit.
Dealers have all sorts of 'stories' to scare you into staying up north to buy. I like to cruise the lots alone without a salesman all over me, but at one dealer I had a little leech tell me that it was illegal for my family and I to wander the lot without a salesman present......needless to say we did an abrupt about-face and exited stage left.

RE: CG/Rv park near Silverwood Theme Park/other sights

We stayed here last summer:
http://parksandrecreation.idaho.gov/parks/farragut.aspx
Beautiful lake/hiking/biking, and only about a 15 minute drive to Silverwood.
We ended up in one of the unserviced CG's (there are 4 total) because we booked so late. You may find the same issue, but you may get lucky.
Have a great trip!!

RE: Pull Behind with Loft?

You will have to look at later model trailers to find what you need.
I totally understand the 'separate areas' for the boys and girls.....there seems to be different bedtime discussions/noises/smells that the others don't appreciate;)
The model I'm thinking of is the Jayco Octane 29M. It has the loft with a separate garage with drop down beds. The only compromise will be for you....the front queen isn't the best setup. I believe 2010 was the last year of it's production.
Unfortunately there will a compromise in some area to find what would work, and it just comes down to what's acceptable to you.

RE: Hellwig good for a Suburban 2500?

When we had our 'Burb 2500 the rear end felt rock-solid when towing. Not sure any 'remedies' are required.
Mike....should have never sold the 'Burb:(

RE: My bicycle mount

You're right about the cost of putting a rail system on the tonneau. I had priced it out and almost convinced myself that it wasn't that bad.....until the reality of it smacked me;)
For me (like you) it was the best solution. Bikes say clean and safe, and you get the "neighbours" wondering 'how many bikes do they have in there' while you're setting up at the CG.:D
Enjoy your setup!!
Mike
Oh yeah, I wasn't trying to grab any credit for the idea because I'm sure it's been done before, but just wanted to show alternative positioning.

RE: My bicycle mount

That's the exact setup I was thinking of doing with our 4 bikes last year, but after some measuring I found that I was able to put them in a little differently.
Worked great last season, but ended up switching our toneau cover for a canopy so the bikes will now go in the back of the truck.....trying to figure out a 'bed-slide' setup so a tray will slide out for easier loading of the bikes.
Here's what mine looks like:
