RE: Where is the best place to camp in New York?

What are you interested in doing? We personally like Lake George and Lake Placid areas. One of our favorite place to stay is Lake George RV Resort. In Lake Placid we stayed at the North Pole Campground.

RE: Bar Harbor in July

We were there for 2 weeks 2 years ago in July. It was 95 degrees and sunny. Very odd weather for New England especially in Maine. We had packed our sweat shirts and long pants for evenings around the campfire but instead sat in tank tops and shirts in the A/C of the RV! Had to cut some of our hiking trips short and just spent more time at the beach. So with New England you can never predict the weather. Crowds are not too bad. The free bus is great to get around. When you get there just pick up a cruise ship schedule and avoid downtown Bar Harbor the days the ships dock. Down town get very crowded then during the afternoons when all the passengers come ashore.

RE: Privacy Curtain Solution for Class C's

I have a similar set up and I also added one of those sun reflectors attached to the front window. During spring and fall camping the curtain separating the cab area saves on heat when the furnace is running.

RE: Floorplan like View/Navion 24M

Phoenix Check out this web site "Clicky". You will find similar floor plans that may work for you. I have also seen your desired floor plan on Coach House back in 2007.

RE: Upstate NY

If you are in the Lake Placid area, the kids may enjoy the North Pole Park. While in the Niagara area, stop to see the ships go through the locks between the great lakes.

RE: Inspection Recommendations when picking up a new motorhome

Other have mentioned the PDI. Take notes and have them check everything. Most dealers will give a gift certificate to purchase water hose, sewer hose, water pressure valve etc. or a discount on you first major purchase. As part of my deal I had the dealer add 3 Maxx Air vents and a awning on my slide out.

RE: Maine Seacoast Sights

We like Acadia, Camden Hills and Eastport. When in Eastport, bring your passport and hop the ferry to Campobello Island. The Belfast area is also fun to explore.

RE: Space shuttle amonia leak.

At least we can now think of a worst case situation if we ever break down. A fellow camper or road side assistance is always close by! Bye the way anyone know where do they dump their black tank? Or it is incinerated or vaporized or some other method like sapped with a ray gun.LOL

RE: Off the beaten path to do/see in ME - Acadia

We would hit all the usually places like Thunder Hole, Jordan Pond, Sandy beach, Whale and puffin watch, kayak tours of the harbor and the shops downtown. During low tide you can walk over to the island across the harbor (just watch the tide charts or you may have to swim back!). We would avoid the downtown when the cruise ships came into port so we would avoid the crowds. We traveled on all eight bus routes and would hop off at different sites of interest along the way. We would chose a bus route for the day and explore. We would hop off at Seal Harbor on hot days to swim. Acadia water is freezing, but this particular beach has water temps that don't turn you purple! Check for times because some are long trips. Visit the Atlantic Brewing Company Brewery which is near the KOA Campground.

RE: Need advice for a first time MH renter in the Atlanta area

Before we purchased our RV we rented to see if we liked "Camping" and to get the hang of operating all the gadgets, dumping, filing etc. I would suggest a campground with full hook ups since you will have your family and tanks can fill fast. We rented from a local dealer and took the extra insurance. We never used the generator so there was no extra charge for hours on the gen. We also had a smoke/pet free RV. If you bring pets there may be an extra charge. We were not allowed to tow, but the dealership let us attach out bike rack to the tow hitch. Ask about their roadside assistance in case of problems. Before you leave the lot, they will give you a walk through teaching you how to operate everything on board. Don't get overwhelmed, if you have questions once you get to your campsite I am sure you fellow campers will gladly help you out and answer you question. Have a fun trip!

RE: campground near Washington DC?

Cherry Hill, Maryland. We had an awesome time there. Easy access to the bus/Metro and tours of DC and surrounding area right from the campground.

RE: Bar Harbor Campground

Acadia in summer is a favorite destinations. We stayed 2 week last summer and the campground was always full (KOA Oceanside) and it seem the same for most of the neighboring campgrounds. So reservations may be necessary. We booked Libby's in York Harbor, Maine back in February and were on a waiting list for this summer.

RE: Point sebago Maine

Meredith Woods In NH you can try Meredith Woods which has an indoor pool. Across the road is Clear Water which is on a lake. Guest at Meredith have access to Clear Water so you can enjoy the lake. Once the Black Flies die off then the mosquito come so we just take it as part of camping and the great outdoors.

RE: RV Campground Recommendations - Adirondacks

Our favorite campground in the Adirondacks is Lake George RV Resort. Trolly to town and surrounding outlet stores. Thursday night is firework night down town in Lake George Village. Watch from the shore or take a cruise on one of the boats. Minnie Ha HA (steam boat) or a dance cruise on the the other vessel. Great to see the fireworks from out on the lake. Fort William Henry is down town and on your way to Ticonderoga, stop in Bolton's Landing to see the small shops in town. While there we rented a pontoon party boat and spent the day exploring the lake and islands and swimming in the coves. In Lake Placid take an Olympic tour, Ride the chair lift on Whiteface MT. Climb up to the tower and walk the chasm. We stayed at the North Pole campground while visiting Lake Placid.

RE: Dog friendly parks Cape Cod-Maine

Sweetwater, Brewster, MA has a kennel, KOA in Middleboro has a dog park as does Normandy Farms, Foxboro,MA. Bayleys in Maine has kayaking right from the campground and is dog friendly. KOA Oceanside in Bar Harbor has a dog park. Cherry Hill, MD has a dog sitter/walker service. The KOA in Mystic,CT. Sandy Pond, Plymouth has great walking trails for the dogs to exercise. This is just a short list of places I remember, but we have never had a problem staying at the 30 plus campground we have frequented. We have 2 small dachshunds, Hansel and Gretel, who usually are not interested in dog parks. They like to just sit on my lap! lol.

Fort Myers, FL Area Campgrounds

Hello, We are flying down to Florida to visit friends in Cape Coral. While we are there we want to check out some of the campgrounds in the area to decide on a campground to use as a home base in a future trip with the motor home. We like beaches, quaint little towns to explore, and nature. We travel with 2 small dachshunds, so a pet friendly campground with full hook ups is what we are searching for. I have checked RV Park reviews and have some ideas but hopefully you guys can give me first hand advice. Thank you for your help.
