Hot Water

How long should it take for an Attwood 6 gal propane water heater to get up to temp? I have heard people say to turn it on 10 min before you need it but mine takes about half an hour to get hot.

RE: Weight vs frontal area

Years ago I worked for a company that built enviromental clean up systems in corgo trailers. They were almost always 6' ceiling height 24' long. I found that towing the trailers empty or full of equipment made almost no differance. One time we got an order for a unit that needed 8' ceiling height. We had the trailer company build it. When I picked it up empty you would think it 20,000 pounds in it . The 2 foot height differnce made a huge differance.

RE: rough start to the season

we were at St Francios State park in Missouri starting on Thursday. We had just finished setting up when the first clap of thunder and then the rain started. Friday morning the ranger stopped by and advised us to packup or we might be stranded for a few days because of rising water. So we headed back up 55 towards home and found a campground just north of litchfield illinois. We spent the rest of the weekend shopping for antiques along 55. Hope the rest of the season goes better. We had a nice time but wet and cool.A bad day of RVing is better then a good day of working!!

RE: Clear Coat bubbling off paint

UV and outside contaminates can add to the problem but the fact is the only thing that causes it is a lousy paint job. If it was prepped and painted correctly it would stand up a nucleur attack(OK That might be a slight exageration). Sadly short of strpping and repainting the Whole RV nothing with guarantee it won't keep happening.

RE: Who uses GPS?

Maps and computers are great but I can not imagine a reason why people wouldn't have and use a GPS!!!

RE: house batteries

I stand corrected-autozone has 3yr replacement & 5 yr replacement but it may be pro-rated but at 105 bucks it may be worth it-anyhow that is the way I am going-RichSams has 6 volt for that same price

RE: A warning about your Sleep Number Bed

I thought the pump in the sleep number bed had an overfill protection device set to stop the pressure from increasing when it hit 100 PSI ? These things truly hold 100 PSI? Or is it just a reference number? It surely can't hold that much pressure can it? It would be hard as a rock. Heck if something the size of a mattress @100 PSI blew up it could do a heck of a lot of damage. It would be an explosion.Just a reference number

RE: Too many people?

I took 10 to Fl last Nov and mine only sleeps 4. Those kids went back in the bedroom and played games all the way down and back.....My DP is 12 years old and no one has ever asked me how much it weighed or how many seat belts it has....To tell the truth I don't even know. Life is an adventure and I never worry about the small stuff because when it is your time to go then it is your time to go and I am not trying to miss anything while I am here. Even if it is unsafe or dangerous........Thats my opinion and others are welcome to disagree. The small stuff? Like the lives or your kids? Great attitude

RE: Horsepower/weight ratio

1hp/100lbs 100hp/10,000lbs 400hp/40,000lbsI don't want to be a round when you try pulling 10,000 pounds with a 100 HP engineHappens every day on the farms in this, and in other countries. It is not about horse power, but gear reduction. I know of on 500 lb garden tractor that can pull 8 times it own weight with a little 8 hp Briggs lawnmower engine. With a 72 to 1 gear reduction, it can easly pull a 3500 lb load up a 10% grade. And many of the more common farm tractors seen in this country are under a 100 horse power, and can easly handle that 10,000 lbs you are talking about.at 10 MPH

RE: Oil Filters

These filters will work. In some applications they run close to the Exhaust pipe and will raise the oil temp. As long as you have clearance you are good to go. Ran them in my dragsters and trucks for years.

RE: On used MH: how much mileage is too much?

They buyers might just be using the mileage as an excuse to let you down easy. I wouldn't be concerned about the mileage however I would be concerned about the age, 13 years is a long time to be using all the mechanicals in the unit and they do tend to wear out. I bought a 17 year old Class B last year with 99,000 miles on it but almost everything was replaced, generator, fridge, roof air, hot water tank, water pump, transmission, etc. So I have a 17 year old B with 1 to 6 year old equipment. Had all of this stuff been original I would have walked away from it. I'm not saying that yours needs replaced but it most likely will in the not too distant future. If you price it right, it will sell, and if anything has been replaced, mention it in your advertising. NickEverytime I read things like this I have to laugh.I just got rid of my 1974 Shasta trailer.Every appliance in it is original and work as well as the day they left the factory.

RE: New report on the price of perscription drugs.

IMHO you need to be prudent where these cheap generic drugs are made. Many if not all are made in Pakistan and China to name a few of the countries. :( I checked the labels of 6 generic medications a family member had bought from Walmart and all of them were made in Pakistan. That is why they are so cheap. You may not die from them but they have no quality control to assure dosage, variances and impurities. Just saying.Any drug imported into yhe USA in tested and controled by the FDA the same as USA made drugs

RE: TT Is Shocking, Literally

Are you using an extention with out a ground? If so turn it over. If not check the polarity in the plug. It is likly wired backwards.

RE: goofy , but true ?

well at least its a warning but yes I can see how the officer could justify it. We assume the vehicle has a tag yet the law says the tag must be seen from the rear. Now the tow vehicle becomes a "trailer" and the "trailer" must have a tag that is also seen from the rear. Since the "trailer" tag was not visible then the office could have written a citation for obscured tag on a trailer or give a warning for failure to display a tag. All in all its chicken s#%t but never the less her/she was following the law. Did I spain that well enough?? I guess you are assuming the tow dolly does not have a plate? I don't follow where the car becomes a trailer as it is being towed on a trailer of sorts.Doesn't matter if the dolly was registered, as long as the cars tires are on the ground it must be registered and the plate visable. If it was on a trailer (all it's tires off the pavement) it wouldn'd need a plate.

RE: goofy , but true ?

The only thing that sounds goofy is that you seem to think the cop was wrong. If he can't see the plate how can he know if it is registered?

RE: Class A coaches driving the speed limit

If the speed limit is 75, I am going 75. There are stretches of I-15 in Utah where the speed limit is 80, so I go 80. Never once has my tires exploded upon hitting 76. As for scenery, personally, I am at my quota for sage brush. But you are welcome to drive 45 and stare at those grey bushes for hours on end. I am going to get where I am going as start enjoying my destination as soon as legally possible. Good for you! Hope you get there. Jack H Good for you! Hope you don't take out innocent people when you don't get there.

RE: Etiquette Question

What you did certainly didn't hurt anything but if someone had seen you dumping on the ground and called the EPA it would have cost the camp owner hundreds if not thousands in water testing costs.
