RE: Effectiveness of macerators

The problem with the maceradors is how slow they are. I know guys that take 45 minutes to an hour and a half just to empty the black tank. If you are at a dump station the people in line behind you are going to be very unhappy. The only reason I can see to have one is if you are going to dump into you home sewer/septic system and have to pump uphill. What can be simplier or faster than a 3" gravity fed hose with no pump motors to jam or fail?
I agree 100%. I have been fine with the 3" hose, but now I'm forced to have my family live in the motor home for awhile. I need a way to pump into the sewer 65' away. At 12 gal/min, I should be able to pump my black tank in about 4 minutes. Otherwise, if I ever get to go camping again, I am fine using the 3". :)

RE: Effectiveness of macerators

Sage, thanks for the link. It was the best lead I have found so far. The unit on Amazon had poor user feedback, ie can't pump over 50', leaks at connections etc. The unit in your link says it can pump up to 350' so I should have NO worries.
Thanks to everyone for the help. You guys are great.
P.S. I would have tried to make my own with a garbage disposal but I thought they just worked on gravity. How would their discharge be "pumped" anywhere?

RE: Effectiveness of macerators

Would this be a good enough pump to pump 75'? The price seems decent enough.

RE: Effectiveness of macerators

Does anyone have a link to a good, inexpensive pump they'd like to share? I have the need for one but can't see spending $400. Thanks.

RE: 2007 6.0 power stroke

Thanks for all your input guys. For the most part I've heard more good things than bad about this motor. I'll do some more research before we jump into buying the truck.

2007 6.0 power stroke

Anyone ever have any problems with this diesel? I'm looking at an '07 F-350 and have never owned a diesel before. I just want to make sure it is considered a good motor. Thanks for any help.

RE: picture of double towing

This might be a little off topic but, if it's legal to double trailer in your home state do you have trouble running through some states where it's not legal?

Big Country 3550 TSL - any opinions?

Does anyone have any experience with this model or something close. It originally was over $50,000 and the dealer now will let me have it for $36,000. It's a new 2009 and it seems like a very good deal to me. Any opinions? Thanks.

Neat video, thanks for the link. We were considering changing to a 5vr from a class A but this gives me another thing to think about.

RE: Has anyone ever done this?

Wow, thanks for all the quick replies, although I didn't see anybody as silly as me forgetting to tighten the nuts.
The rim is 19.5 and has 8 lugs - 6 fake and the two that actually hold the rim on. I'd like to find one that has the GBM on the hub like the original but if I can't find that I'd take anything. It would be better than looking at what I'm looking at now. Would a picture help? If so let me know how to upload one here. Thanks again.

Has anyone ever done this?

The day we were leaving for vacation I was checking air pressures in a pretty good sleet downpour so I was in a rush. When I do tire pressures I remove the rear chrome beauty rims for easy access to the valve stems. I forgot to tighten the one side, only hand tightening the two nuts that hold the rim on.
At the first gas stop I saw the rim was missing. Does anyone know where I should/could begin looking for a GBM replacement rim? Thanks.
