RE: Blood sugar control

Mr Camper, A1c good numbers are around six, Good BG's in the USA are in the 80-120 range. In other countries, 4.5 to around seven if I did the math right, (NOTE: I may have done the math wrong) (note 2) that is rounded some) Please note the period after my explanation on what the A1C was for.

RE: Blood sugar control

Your A1C is a three month blood sugar reading. Good numbers are in the 80-120 range at all times. I've got mine consistently at 102. It requires portion control, low carbs, and will-power. Use a good meter and do everything you can to eat your meals at the same time each day and take your glucose readings at the same time each day. If youre doctor isn't supportive then you may want to find another doctor. I've even spoken to managers/chefs/cooks at restaurants and you'd be amazed at how willing they are to let you know what they do in the kitchen. I've got 5 restaurants within a 30 mile radius of my home who, when I come in and let them know it's me, make sure they adjust the portion size and ingredients for me and I tip the cook and the server. It's a bit more expensive that way but it doesn's cause my blood sugar to spike and I can enjoy going out to eat and not worry about paying for it the next week trying to get my number down. Best of Luck.

RE: Dunedin, Florida

US 19 through Dunedin is awful with traffic. Alt. 19 is not. Check the campground in Dunedin very careful before you select it. They have more restrictions that any other campground in FLAUSA. Age of RV, pets, type of RV, number of people in RV, etc.

RE: Panellas Trail

The trail is about 34 miles long. There are campgounds near the trail from the north to the south end. The same with restaurants. How much biking of the trail each day do you plan on doing? Do you plan to bike back to your starting point or take bus back? Many Pinellas bus routes along or near the trial have the capability of picking up riders and their bikes. You need to make more decisions before you pick a campground.

RE: KOA Reservations vs what you get when you arrive

We've used KOA's for over 25 years and never had this problem. We usually check with the campground directly to confirm that we do get the site we need. Only one time was there a screw up with a KOA reservation. I had my two sons with me and we were tent camping. Someone in an RV set up a tent on the site reserved for us. The owner had us set up in his back yard for the three days we were staying. (He had a house on site.) His wife brought my sons cookies each nite we were there. I'll take that customer service anytime. My sons both camp today and they still talk about the service we received at that KOA.

RE: Photographers - What DSLR do you have?

Any photographers?? I'm going to buy a DSLR and I've narrowed it down to a Nikon D5000 with the 18-55/55-200mm lens kit. I will be photographing landscapes, nature, my pets, camping trips. What DSLR are you using? Same as mine. Excellent buy, even I can't screw up a photo.

RE: Shower advice please!

What were your thoughts when you purchased the unit for how you would have those items you needed? Soap on a rope?

RE: TT Ranking to buy my new Travel Trailer

First of all forget about the brand. Look for the floorplan that suits your needs. Then find the ones in your price range. Then check with campers at your local RV parks and see what the owners of RV's from that manufacturer say. Then visit you local dealer that supplies the final two or three you have it narrowed down to and hang around the customer service waiting room and ask questions of people picking up or dropping off a unit what they think of the local service. What good is getting an opinion of a manufacturer if you don't like their floorplans or can't afford the unit?

RE: Black Hills SD Camping

We've stayed at the Custer KOA and the mosquitos didn't. Horse Thief campground was also a good place to stay.

RE: need your opinions: rv or hotel?

You said you were lazy. Stay home and rent videos of the National Parks. You can sit on the couch with your pets. Seriously, when you factor in meals, extra fee for pets, and someone elses time schedule you come way ahead with an RV. Plus you get to sleep in your own DNA. Of course that's just my opinion and I could be wrong.

RE: Have you ever eaten chipmunk?

Possum? Isn't that the flat animal that lives in the middle of the road? I would imagine it tastes a little like rubber mixed with oil.

RE: Elec tongue jack. Atwood, Barker or Bulldog?

Barker. Had the Atwood, while good not as preferable as the Barker. I think the biggest difference is their service deptartment for any question or rare service needs.

RE: Where would you retire?

AZ - NO NC - NO TX - NO SC - NO GA - NO AL - NO MS - NO LA - NO AR - NO VA - NO WV - NO KY - NO Northern CA Coast - YES OR Coast - YES WA Coast - YES FL - Yes Well that was interesting! Care to expand a bit as to why? cts Warm weather, Water, Kids and Grandkids in FLAUSA. N.CA, OR, WA, enjoy the weather, love the scenery, area and laid back lifestyle. The other states... been there, done that and the area is too humid for my health (Yes I know about Florida, but kids and grandkids overule that during the winter months) Is that enough expansion?

RE: Storing Power Cord

I use a big plastic tote that fits in my front storage area. Holds 3 water hoses, 3 power cords and all my other fittings etc. It can get a little heavy. Same here. Works great. Keep everything in it that is close to campground connections so this saves a lot of steps walking back and forth.
