RE: Death Valley Camping

Dumont Dunes is another choice. It's on the south eastern corner (just outside the national park) of Death Valley.

RE: Need a new mattress

I wont buy a used mattress, thats nasty.
Many people feel that way...but then will sleep in hotels where hundreds of different people slept on them and left different body fluids on them!!
That's nasty too!!! You can probably get used socks, underwear and toothbrushes right next to the used mattresses but that doesn't make any sense either.

RE: Truck Tires for SoCal

I just replaced the BF Goodrich all terrain T/A's with Nitto Terra Grapplers on my F350. Although I've used BFG's exclusively on all of my trucks over the years, I heard good things about the Nitto's so decided to give them a try. So far so good. The price was right, they hook up well off road, they're not noisy, they have a 3750 lb. E rating, and they're made in the USA

Lug Nut Torque

Does anyone know what the lug nut torque should be for a six lug wheel on a Weekend Warrior LE3505 fifth wheel? Thanks!

RE: ROAD CONDITIONS

The dirt roads in an around Ocotillo vary from hard pack to very loose sand. Just pay attention and you'll be fine.

RE: Diesel roadside smog checks

Carry your last smog inspection with you in your truck, they will ask for it.
Why? They can ask all they want for it. The sticker on my license plate and renewed registration card is all the proof that's needed that my truck passed the smog inspection.

RE: Diesel roadside smog checks

None of the vehicles I saw being inspected were commercial vehicles and the one on the Dyno was a Honda coupe so I know it wasn't commercial.....Dennis
Did the Honda pass the diesel inspection?
Due to missing glow plugs and red tinted gasoline it failed and was immediately impounded.

RE: Replacement LEDs

While I understand the concern with eBay and overseas shippers, after I received the first test LED I was happy with the quality of the product and the light output and color exceeded my expectations. I ordered another 20 and will post some pictures of them and a comparison of the light output of them versus the old incandescent. No bomb triggers here!

RE: Replacement LEDs

I guess I don't understand spending 4 or 5 times as much money for bulbs when they are the same bulbs and probably same Chinese manufacturer just marked up and available in the US. I spent $39 for 10ea 36LED bulbs delivered to my door and spent a total of 20 minutes converting my existing light fixtures from incandescent to LED.
When I look at the link above I see individual bulbs at $15-$16 ea and fixtures at $42 ea and they are no different than what I find on ebay for less than $4 per bulb. For that much difference in price its was more than worth the risk of doing business overseas and I am 100% satisfied with my purchase and received them in about 10 days postage paid. I even ordered 10 more as my trailer has 17 bulbs total on the interior.
My thoughts exactly!

RE: Replacement LEDs

How hard is it to convert the porch lights in a WW..?
What bulb base is used ?
Got the 2 WW porch/spot lights with hi/low switch. Was thinking it would be nice to convert one of them to LED on its low beam only setting. That way could still use hi beams of both lights when lots of light was temporarily needed. And then be able to keep it on low beam for 1 led light on all night.
Thinking this might take an additional light fixture because not enough room in the oem porch light fixture. Unless I just completely convert 1 light to led on low beam only, and disconnect the other lights low beam wire. Then I could switch on low beam, and only 1 light would come on in LED for an all night low watt draw security light. And still have 1 light with oem WW porch light high beam.
What have others done for the porch lights?
I used this lamp for the porch light on my WW and it works great (same lamp base as the interior lights). Although I got a much better deal for the same LED on ebay.

And for the light under the steps I used a 4" LED strip light. Great idea to look for an LED lamp for the outside floods. This one may be the ticket, although the base is different than what's in there now.

RE: Replacement LEDs

I bought one of these to try and after deciding it was what I wanted I bought 20 more. Plenty of light, not to hot and the color is perfect. I did the whole trailer for $80.

RE: Replacement LEDs

X2 on the EBay 36 led Warm Whites. Ordered 2 sets of 10, arrived quickly in an anti static bag to protect them with legit 3M foam tape on the back to mount. Quality assembly and not a bad one in the bunch. Very bright, 20 we're under 80 bucks.
X3 on these LED's. Very happy with them.

RE: So, you bought a toy hauler...what would you do differently?

We've finally decided that we want a toy hauler, not because we are rough housing dirt biker types (we're about the opposite)
So no loud music, loose women, beards, tattoos and piercings like the rest of us huh?

RE: Extra Spare Tire

I have thought about going to the "junk yard" and get a spare tire mount from many trucks that have a "winch type" carrier and putting it under the TH somewhere.
Great idea! That may be the best way to go, if I have room under the trailer somewhere, plus there's a Pick-a-Part salvage yard not to far from me.
