2008 F350 SRW V10 6-Speed Manual

Hi folks, been off for a while ever since I sold my last TV but now I've got the bug. Not looking to do a ton of travel but I would like to make some short, less than 300 mile trips. I have a 2011 Cruiser 315RE 5're that is currently parked. I've found a very nice F350 with a V10, only 78K on it but it has a 6-speed manual. My question is will the manual be a problem pulling this 5'er? The v10 should be sufficient for the type of travel we will do but I'm not sure how a clutch will hold up under this load. Any experience would be very helpful and appreciated.

RE: 1991 Jayco Eagle 8 Bunk size

"Eagle 8" is not a Jayco model number. It's actually a J Series Model 806! Sleeps 6, weight is 995 lbs, 17'4" long and NADA blue book is $460.00 to $560.00. http://images.craigslist.org/5L45Gd5F63K23L93Ffc7eb74455e14bda12ee.jpg height=200 width=200 http://www.rvguidebook.com/rvguidebook/productphotos/tmodel_floorplans_pic_560.jpg.gif height=200 width=200 Sorry to say...but the beds are a double and a twin. For any more info, Call 1-800-RVJAYCO and ask the source. This is not correct, for 1994 there most definitely is a Jayco Eagle 8 & an 8-SD model. Oh an Jayco said they do not have any specs on older units. I finally did get the seller to measure and they are both doubles however so it's a no-go for me on this one anyway. Thanks for the responses though.

RE: 1991 Jayco Eagle 8 Bunk size

Agreed but the unit is 17'4" open so it may be longer than 8' box.

1991 Jayco Eagle 8 Bunk size

We are interested in a used Jayco Eagle 8 popup camper that is for sale but it is approx. 100 miles away from us. We are trying to find out what size the bunks are and the owner doesn't seem to be able to answer. It took several emails to get her to understand that there was more than 1 Jayco Eagle model. If anyone happens to own this particular year/model, your help would be appreciated as we do not want to drive 200 miles if there isn't at least 1 queen bunk on it. Thanks...

RE: Used pop-up values

We are just looking for something small and light for occasional weekend trips. We have a 2011 5th wheel that is permanently parked at a family house on a lake which is great & free! This is our 1st year as stationary "campers" and we are already getting the urge to take some short trips. We will not be able to tow the 5er again for a few years after the kids are done with college so this is our best option. Maybe it's just me but I know I wouldn't buy a used car for more than NADA and I'm finding it hard to justify doing that for a 15 to 20 year old popup. We have found a great unit, 1991 Starcraft StarFlyer but they're asking $1650 and NADA says $560. That's a huge difference that I just can't wrap my head around. I may just have to bite the bullet if I want to do this..

Used pop-up values

We are in the market for a good used popup for occasional use but it seems almost every unit is priced way over NADA value. A lot of owners are asking as much as 3x the NADA retail value. Am I crazy or are they? I can't bring myself to pay way over book value. I'm talking 1990 to 95 aged units that sold for about $4500 new and now they still want $1500 to $2500. NADA on these things run between $500 and $800 for the smaller units. I'm really up in the air on what to do.

RE: Towinf a small Popup with a 2012 Subaru Outback

It is the CVT but it's also rated for 2K per the manual.

Towinf a small Popup with a 2012 Subaru Outback

This is our 1st year as seasonal campers so our 33' Cruiser is now parked at our family lake house in Maine. While we love it up there and it's basically free, we are feeling the itch to go other places on occasion. The problem is all I have is a Subaru Outback, rated to tow 2000lbs max. I was wondering if any of the small popups would be doable? We found a 1991 Starcraft Starflyer close by that's in beautiful shape and is 1200lb empty/1800lb GVWR. Yesterday I test towed a 900lb Coleman that seemed fine but that was a little smaller unit as well. Would the 1200lb Starcraft be out of the question? Thanks.

RE: Fifth wheel in Virginia EZPass

Just need the one unit in New Hampshire, the system detects the axels and bills accordingly.

RE: Fan-Tastic Fan Vent Cover

UPDATE It turns out that the fans have an automatic limiter in them so as soon as they meet the resistance of the fan cover, they will stop opening. FanTastic's Tech support says there will be no damage to the fan as a result. I guess I'll prove that in a week or so..

Fan-Tastic Fan Vent Cover

OK, I've tried 3 different covers for my 2 Fan-Tastic fans and none are tall enough. I even purchased the version made specifically for it by Fan-Tastic and it's still too low. The fans are both auto open units and when they are open, the covers are not tall enough. Is there some sort of adjustment for the vent lid that I am unaware of? When the vent is fully open the cover is approximately 3" too short. I really though this would be an easy install! Thanks.

Shared tow vehicles

I read an article the other day about people who rent their personal vehicles out by the day or week, through a nationwide company called "RelayRides". The company supplies all necessary insurance with 1 million in liability coverage. The vet the perspective renters by checking DL records and such. You set the rate, either daily or weekly for the use of your vehicle. This caught my attention because I was wondering if a similar service for RV tow vehicles would "fly". I sold my truck this past year because it was simply not economical as a daily driver and I drive way more for work that I tow my 5'er. We ended up going seasonal with our rig and I have to say it's already bugging me. What do you think the market would be for a "shared" tow vehicle service for those of us that only tow occasionally? I'm not looking to start a business here, just thinking that the current service might consider adding TV's as an option. I figured the best place to get opinions was here. (PS: it's killing me to see all the RV's on the road) Thanks.
