RE: Northeast, late fall and bestest hints

Lap527 you've got some great suggestions. SugarHillCTD is right some of the best New England camping is in Sept and Oct. Along with the secondary roads of the white and green mountains NH and VT. If you're looking for extremes Bar Harbor, ME is a must stop, Cadillac Mt. is the first place on the east coast where sunrise is visible (no it's not the furthest east but it has to do with height and curve of the earth).

RE: Upgrade to a fiver

Great choice with the 4.10 and yes a 5th wheel is defiantly an upgrade.
As for weights we have about 2k lbs worth of stuff including full fresh water tank. This leaves about 1k lbs of cushion to my published max for us and tows fine.
After some research here, I am adding firestone airbags before 2013 first trip.

RE: Karma is a ...

Jeff,
Print out all the local and similiar trucks from auto trader you can find and bring to your agent. A buddy of mine did this and they raised the amount of money they gave him significantly. Not all the way because those are retail prices but it was certainly better.

RE: Need opinions on Crossroads v. Primetime

We are happy with primetime, customer service questions are promtly answered via the website and in plain english. As for slam latch love them. You don't need a key just to shut the door like the older style RV compartments.

RE: Storing Fifthwheel Hitch for the winter

I hang mine for storage all the time, mid year and over the winter. Everyone in my group of 5 also use this storage method. Not to method it is easier than lifting. As others have mentioned this is less strain than driving down the road. If your going to be walking around it, put acouple pieces of foam or pipe insulation on the edges to lessen the pain of walking into it :)

RE: Tonneau cover and 5th wheel?

I have the quad fold in my sig and very happy with it. It stays on all the time, folds up to about the size of a tool box so no issues while towing. I agree with Donn definately invest in a spray on liner.

RE: I95 in Maine

'Allstays' might be a little behind we were up towards Bangor last fall and they were doing bridge work causing a low clearance. There was a detour in place, however I don't see anything currently listed on Maine DOT site. Click here

RE: EZ Pass question

Have used ours as far south as VA without an issue. I would file the appeal and see what happens.

Air Bags

Ok, so I’ve done a search without much luck.
Who has what for suspension air bags and what is your opinion of what you had. Especially, looking for if you would buy them again?
Thanks,

RE: New England

You should probably be able to get away without reservations as long as your willing to be flexible. I would call on wed or thrus before each weekend to ensure thier is space.
As for the car I'll leave that up to the Motorhome folks to comment.

RE: trailer battery

Hi,
Two things come to mind.
First off, you should have a breakaway cable on your rig to activate the brakes in the event the trailer comes disconnected from your tow vehicle. On most travel trailers, this is powered from the trailer battery. You can get an independent battery for this for under $40 for a whole kit at etrailer.com.
Secondly, most RV fridges made in the last 20 years need 12v for their electronics, even running on gas. Obviously, no battery would mean the fridge wouldn't run while traveling.
Other than that, you just miss the ability to have lights or the water pump while not hooked up to power.

RE: New England

Boston, Cape Cod, Rockport, Mystic Conn, Burlington, White Mountains, Lakes region of NH, Bar Harbor, Boothbay Harbor, Baxter SP.
Agreed, if you give an idea of what your more interested in we can probably narrow it down. I.e. mountains, ocean, history, hiking versus in car site seeing, amusement parks etc.
Personally I would start in Burlington, VT and head for white mountains (franconia notch and kanc hwy), followed by Bar Harbor. From there you can go to Baxter SP if you want to, it really is a great place but it and moosehead lake are another days drive each way. Coming back you should stop in Freeport, ME (LL Bean flagship) and Portsmouth, NH before heading for Boston and Cape Cod. Finally, when you start to head home if your a history person Sturbidge Village is a must. You can cap off you tour with a stop at the BigE, it's the largest fair in New England and you can sample all the best food we have to offer. I know I skipped Mysitc never been a big fan unless you would like to stop at one of the two Indian Casinos.
Hope this helps, good luck.
