RE: What do you use to stabilize when parked?

You might want to do what I have doner if you are handy.
I made four boxes up with scrap wood that I had in the shop. I put those down first, and then crank the stabilizers down on top of them.( 2" by stuff for the sides and OSB for the tops)
Annually I give them a fresh coat of black paint, and several times I have been asked where I got them.
I also made a larger one for the tongue jack.

RE: Water pump on 12V

I feel like a bozo. Just checked the battery disconnect. It was turned off.
But instead of feeling like a "bozo"; be glad that there is nothing wrong with your system.
We all make mistakes, and when it turns out as simple as yours, just figure you are ahead of the game !

RE: Question on kayaks

My wife and I tried several tandem kayaks and everyone was like trying to paddle a log, we are not exceptionally big people, less than 400 lbs between the two of us.
In the end we chose to stay with our two separate kayaks, if someone knows of a tandem that works well I would be interested in hearing the make and the model.
Check out a Current designs Double Vision.
It is a great tandem.
If we were in the market for a tandem, that is probably the one we would get., but we have had a racing one, and an expedition one, and we enjoy paddling and racing our solos.

RE: Considering an RV Garage

My wife and I built our own and are very glad to have it. Anyone who advises against it in my opinion is just jealous.
Prior to having it, all winter long it was exposed to the elements, and in the heat of the summer, the roof needed constant maintenance.
Since we have had the structure, it has stayed immaculate.
Please don't listen to the naysayers. You'll be very glad you have it.
I wish I could help you on the bid, but doing it ourselves saved us everything except the materials..

RE: installing a house toilet in our trailer

1. I visualize it cracking when you go over that first big bump.
2. we are always trying to go light, and that just adds more weight.
I hope all goes well, but I am thinking of problems

RE: what would you get?

I would keep exactly what I have right now which is a 25 foot travel trailer with no slides.
We carry our two kayaks and a canoe on the roof of our Ford F-150 that pulls it, and are as happy as we can be.
I might consider buying a new pick up to tow it with though since our existing one is starting to rust out from all the salt water that drips on it from when we load our two sea kayaks.
We couldn't live our wonderful life style if we had any other rig.

RE: screws in walls

You might want to do what I do. I have mounted stuff all over the place in our trailer including exactly what you want to do, but I use a backing plate glued to the wall.
All of our trim is oak, so I use a piece of oak and route the edges to match the original stuff that came with the trailer. I also stain and polyurthane it to match.
Then I use brass screws just long enough so that they go through the backing plate and have about a 1/16" on ther back side.
I then cover the back with glue, (either gorilla or Elmers), and then force the screws into the wall. All these screws do is act like a clamp until the glue hardens. Then I screw my rack or whatever to that.
I am now on our second trailer where I use this method, and I have never had any of the many that I have done come off, and I have never had to worry about hitting wires.
Plus the backing plate adds a lot of nice finish.

RE: Gutters

I gave up on gutter screens and guards many years ago.
Unless you are in a wide open area with no trees around, they will clog up and you will be right back to square one.
The best solution is to clean them in the spring, and then again in the fall.

RE: Loud AC

They are noisy, but they also block lots of outside noise if you are in an RV park with lots of kids!!
Party next door....no problem, turn on the AC. Kid crying, dogs barking....turn on the AC.
You forgot the idiots next door with their boom box music !

RE: water heater

I wouldn't want water sitting in the water heater for more than a month.
It will end up stinking when you turn it on until all the musty water gets out of the system.
I drain mine after a trip unless we are goin to be using the trailer witin the next month.
From experience !

In the Keys; every one of the bridges between each Key, (except the seven mile bridge) has a separate free fishing bridge and the parking is free on either side of the bridge.

RE: Please Get a Check Up

You are preaching to the wrong person here.
Naturally I feel sorry for the friends wife and yourself.
I am seventy seven years old and on zero meds. Every time one of my friends goes to a doctor, the doctor finds something wrong, and the end result is usuall and operation, or some med and that med usually causes something else to go wrong or ruin the poor guys sex life.
The last time I had a physical was about fifteen years ago, and I am not going to a doctor unless I have some chronic pain or something I can't cure myself.
I realize the criticism that I am going to get, but I am very happy with my life just the way it is.

RE: Need recommendation for tire pressure for TT tires

50 PSI cold.
That is what mine call for, and that is what I have used in two different trailers and over 30,000 miles of traveling without a flat.
I personally would get rid of the chinese tires and get US made ones

RE: Portable waste tanks

I wouldn't have anything larger then 15 gallons. They are just to heavy.
Also don't put black water in it. Just gray. It is just too messy to clean black water out of them.
