No Hot Water Problem

This has happened a couple times and has me stumped. Has something to do with the Spledndide 2100XC. Hard to explain, but something in the washer is able to kill all hot water in the rig. The 2nd time it happened I was starting wash and noticed the 2100 was not filling with water. I checked hot water in the sinks and shower and had nothing. Cold water worked fine. Tuned off washer then re-started and everything is back to normal, hot water is working again.
So how is the 2100 able to kill all hot water in the coach including itself? I didn't think the water lines were in a serial fashion. Anyone had this problem? And what was the fix?

RE: Questions On AMAZON locations????

Big Chief RV Park is about .25 mile from the Coffeyville plant and you could walk or ride a bike from there. It's about 7 miles to town and there is a Walmart. IIRC from 2009 we got most of our taxes back from Kansas after filing non-resident.

RE: Amazon Camper Force

My DW is currently working part time in Coffeyville and I work full time. As mentioned, one person must work full time before Amazon will cover site costs.
They also extended length of stay for Camperforce from 1200 hours to 8 months so people starting work now can work thru peak if desired ;)

RE: Splendide 2100XC not drying

2nd the recommendation to call Splendide...they are very friendly and knowledgeable about their products. I found there customer support to be top notch.
It does sound like your vent exhaust is clogged. Here's the info I received from Splendide:
Clearing lint from Splendide’s Interior Duct
1. Run the unit without clothes and with the dry time off on cycle # 11.
2. When the water stops entering the unit push and hold the start button until all the lights come on then release the button.
3. Next, move the cycle knob to cycle # 2 and press the start button once (do not hold).
4. Let it run through that complete cycle.
5. Do this twice.
If in frequent use, do this once each month to avoid buildup.
If the above treatment fails, try it again, adding a cup of white vinegar to break down the deposited soap and fabric softener.
FALL BACK PROCEDURE IF THE ABOVE PROCEDURE FAILS
1. Pull the unit out and remove flexible exhaust duct.
2. Pick out as much lint as you can from the air outlet on the back of the dryer.
3. Put a garden hose in the outlet and blow the blockage into the washer.
4. Run the washer on a short cycle. The blockage breaks up and goes out the drain.
While your working on the back of the unit I recommend cleaning out the dryer hose as it will eventually clog with lint. We do the vinegar once a month and remove the rubber flexible exhaust duct twice a year when we are living in our coach full time and using the Splendide almost daily.

RE: Easy access diesel fuel in Payson,Az??

We recently left a workamping gig in Payson...the Giant station about a mile from 87 up 260 towards Star Valley is plenty big enough to handle large rigs. I didn't purchase diesel fuel there myself so not sure how many pumps they have but I saw many semi's pulling in so I doubt you would any trouble. I would have no issues taking my rig in there if I needed fuel and I am very leery about small stations.

RE: Black tank won't drain...

We used the awning rod to unclog the clog. I think it was before the tank :)
Go the the hardware stare and pick up a closet auger. They come in different lengths, just be sure to get one long enough to reach from the dump valve to the black tank. Mine is a 3ft version and cost less than $20. If your toilet does not dump straight into your black tank and has a bend in the pipe you can use the closet auger from that end as well.
Save your awning rod for awnings.

RE: 3 Part Holding Tank Question

In your second picture there appears to be a water hose connection for black tank flush just above the blank tank valve handle. As the placard to right says, make sure you leave the blank tank valve open when flushing.
If your blank tank handle used to close completely then you may have "stuff" stuck in the slot for the valve disc. About the only way to fix is to remove the valve and clean.
As others have mentioned, it's rare that the sensors will read correctly unless you keep the inside of the tanks fairly clean. It can be done but is not worth the effort or if using chemicals, the cost. My toilet will burp when flushing to let me know it's time to dump. I leave the gray valve open (unless dumping black tank) so I don't worry about it filling. When doing laundry and taking showers I could empty it almost daily so I just leave it open. I usually fill the blank tank with water and dump again before priming it again for normal use.

RE: System heat switch for bay heater in Holiday Rambler

My switch has two lights...one tells me the system heat is turned on...the other comes on when the thermostat in the water bay calls for heat. I've found that mine won't come on unless the outside temps are in the low 20's for a few hours. They tell me the heater should keep the bay at about 40 degrees. You could disconnect the sewer hose and install the floor cap to help with temps in the wet bay. I usually leave my sewer hose connected and gray tank valve open so I can leave the faucet running in the bathroom so my hoses don't freeze up. If it's going to be below freezing for a long time you don't want to do that or your sewer hose could freeze.

RE: Dish VIP222k Receiver Connections

I changed the channel for the rear TV to channel 59 and it looks slightly better...but when compared to the signal on channel 69 it is terrible.
So with your suggestions about my setup I decided to turn off the modulator for the front TV since it is HDMI to the TV. I then set the rear TV modulator to use channel 69. Tested both TV's and they are both still working.
Not sure this is the best fix, but the screen looks a lot better on the rear TV. Will run with this for a few days and see how things go.
Appreciate all the ideas from everybody. The ideas sparked some things I could try that I hadn't thought of before...thank you all.

RE: Dish VIP222k Receiver Connections

Ok I can try that...it's a real pain to remove the receiver far enough to get to the back of it. My installer also put that antenna on the back of the receiver to pick up the RF remote I use in the bedroom. The air antenna booster is off.
The part that really bugs me is how I am able to see the signal from the front TV in the back. The front TV is using HDMI direct to the TV. I was hoping somebody who is very familiar with the receiver would be able to explain how that is happening. That signal, at the rear TV set to channel 69, is crystal clear. My rear TV is small, 20" and square 3:4 aspect ratio, so it's difficult to tell if the signal is SD or HD. But it is 100% clearer than the signal I see on channel 60 from the 2nd half of the receiver.
Scratching my head on this one...

Dish VIP222k Receiver Connections

Dish VIP222K receiver in use. Dealer had problems hooking up the rear TV. The front TV is hooked up hdmi and looks great. But the rear TV looks like crap. I discovered if I tuned the rear TV to channel 69 (vice 60) I see what is being fed to the front TV, and it is crystal clear. I had the installing dealer check my setup twice and he said the rear TV is SD and that is why the picture is snowy. Since I found another signal on channel 69 I'm wondering if something isn't hooked up correctly. Any experts out there that can make suggestions on what I should be looking for?
The problem is the front overhead cabinet that holds the receiver is the focal point for all audio and video connections in the coach. Monaco uses a switch box to control what goes where. And of course the cabinet is much to small for all the equipment in there.
I'm hoping someone knows this receiver and can tell me, first, how is it I am able to see the front receiver at the rear TV? And second, what connections do I need to verify at the receiver that should be feeding the rear TV?
I could bypass the switch box but that will complicate things if/when we travel and stay at a park with cableTV. So I need to know how to correctly cable the receiver using the switch box.
The switch box has three sections to control the front TV, VCR and rear TV, with buttons above each to select AUX, SAT, ANT, VCR and cable. The way I use it, the button pushed is what will be sent to the device.
Unfortunately I am not sure how the installer hooked things up as the buttons have little effect on the picture viewed on the rear TV.
Can anyone help?

RE: I know stock tank sensors are worthless but..

When my sensors give erratic readings, especially when empty, like you describe I use chemicals to clean the tank. I've had good luck with Thetford Level Gauge cleaner. I don't rely on the gauges to know when to dump...the toilet will "burp" when it's getting full. But I still try to keep the tank semi-clean once or twice a year. I wait until it's time to move the coach, empty and flush the tanks, then fill both black and gray tanks about half full then add the chemicals. I then drive the coach to our next location and once hooked up fill the tanks full and then dump. The gauges will read correctly for a while if I do a good flush after each dump, but eventually they will again start giving erratic readings. It's not a bad idea to really clean the tanks a couple times a year, and the cost of chemicals won't break the bank only doing it once or twice a year. I just consider it preventative maintenance. I shudder to think what would happen if I allowed the gunk to accumulate in the tanks.
FWIW, there are professional cleaners that will pressure wash the inside of your tanks. I've never had mine done, but I know some dealerships will have trade-ins cleaned this way before they put them on the lot. They do not want any "smells" in the units when showing to prospective buyers.

RE: Water leak only when connected and using city water..

On my coach the water pump will allow blow-by water into my fresh water tank if city pressure is high. But the over-full drain for the fresh tank is on the other side of the coach. If your leak is in your water bay then I would suspect something is loose or needs new gasket. Possible the water hose is loose inside the water bay?

RE: Should I be able to see water?

Sounds like it is "burping" when you flush. Suspect either the roof vent is blocked, or, the pipe between the toilet and holding tank is clogged.

RE: Amazon campgrounds in coffeeville ks

We worked Amazon back in 2009 and initially we stayed at River Crest, part of the city owned RV park but with 50 amp service and sewer hookups. After a few days of the place we moved to the state park in Independence. They have one loop with 11 FHU sites and plenty of W&E sites. Yes the ride to work was about 28 minutes, but the state park was much nicer than living in a cow pasture. Big Chief wasn't built yet when we were there so can't comment on it, but from what people are posting it sounds like another cow pasture. I think the peace and quiet of the state park trumps being close to Amazon, but to each their own...

RE: Gray tank empty and not filling?

Well we did a number if things, snake the vents and drains, cleaned all the little "hats" throughout the bus. One of which when removed, the pipe sucked air and the water left the shower pan immediately.
I think this was the problem...glad it's working now. Shame to sell your coach now that you have it fixed. But I can understand the down-sizing. Smaller should make things easier on you. Best of luck in your future endeavors.

RE: Frozen Sanicon?

If you need to dump before warmer weather arrives can you unhook your sanicon hose and use a standard sewer hose to dump your tanks? My guess would be the 1" sanicon hose is froze, you could use a standard 3/4" garden hose. I do that when the distance to the sewer is farther away than the 21' sanicon hose will reach.

I agree. The only thing that makes any sense is that the gray tank was not empty. I still recommend the closet auger...
