RE: Campgrounds in Atlanta area

During the week, John Tanner should be OK. I've had my 37' 5vr in there many times. There are at least 8 sites you could get to. If you stop a little sooner, there is a new Yogi Bear around exit 9, just north of I-20 in Waco, GA. Like Bob Shaw says, if you pass up those near Carrollton, you'd better drive 2 more hours to get NE of ATL.

RE: HDTV for 5er

At first, we stuffed foam pads around it, but kept it in the center. Now, we pay no attention to it at all. It just bounces around with everything else. "Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin". And...when we want to watch it outside, it's light enough that it's easily moved to where we want it.
Actually we moved this SONY into our spare bedroom in the stick house a few months ago and replaced it with an Insignia combo TV/DVD so when we choose to watch a DVD outside, we don't have to lug a DVD player. It's very convenient, but nowhere near the picture quality of the SONY. All the bumping around hasn't hurt this one (LCD) either.

RE: HDTV for 5er

Four years ago we bought a SONY Bravia 32" LCD for the 5vr. With the same worries as you, we purchased a 3 year warranty with it.
Since then it has traveled many thousands of miles including 100s of miles on gravel roads throughout Alaska and Canada on very rough roads without a problem of any kind.
This thing is bulletproof. Now it's priced $1000 less than we paid for it, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat and save the $$$ of the extended warranty.
Good luck.

RE: Network unstable after moving from home to RV and back.

It must be the wi-fi signal dropping out. If I plug the USB 720 into the laptop, I don't have this problem. I'm fortunate to have a very strong Verizon signal where I live.
I don't park the RV at the house. It happens no matter where I camp, and every time I return and set it up at home again.

Network unstable after moving from home to RV and back.

Cradlepoint CTR-500
Verizon USB 720
Vista 64 bit
XP Home
Mac X
When I dis-assemble the network and move it into the RV or back, it is unstable for 24-48 hours (constantly dropping off and on) and then gets back to rock solid like it is most of the time.
It is the same on all 3 computers, so the only common ground is the USB and the router.
Is there a certain sequence I must follow in breaking down and setting up to keep this from happening? Remove the USB first, power down the rounter first, etc? It happens every time, not just once or twice and I'm sure there's a workaround because I don't hear anyone else complaining of this problem.

RE: Short 50 Amp Pig Tail (PICTURES ADDED)

I found the adapter you're looking for at an RV dealer a couple of years ago. It's a 50 amp female to 30 amp male about 2 feet long. I paid about $80 for it and I've found it to be worth every penny. I can use 30 amps at a campground without ever having to deal with the 50 amp cord.
You can find it at many marine supply stores, too..

RE: Coastal Maine and north....where to go, what to see

We just returned from that area. East of Bar Harbor, I would suggest you stop in Machais at Helen's for some of the best pie in the world. Continue east to Lubec and cross into Canada to visit Campabello and the FDR summer home. While there you can stay at Herring Cove Provincial Park campground.
If you choose to go to New Brunswick, check out St. Andrews and stay at the Kiwanis Oceanfront Campground. St. Andrews is a fun little town and some good whale watching trips run from there at reasonable prices.

RE: Re: Golf and Park

We are at Salt Fork SP in Cambridge, OH now. Plenty of nice sites with 18 holes in the park. Deer Creek OH SP has 18 also.
As roadpilot says, Stonewall is great. You may also try Pipestem in WV.

Would Ohio fit the bill? North Dakota? We try to stay in State Parks near golf. Are you looking for golf/RV resorts where golf is on the property?

RE: rv storage...Atlanta, GA

Scotlyn, I'm about 45 minutes from the ATL airport and pay $50/month in a very secure facility. There are some covered sites at $100. PM me if you want more info.

RE: Western NC to Bar Harbor, Me.

I agree with ehouk too. We're in Kennebunkport now on our way south. Rt. 1 was packed the last few days, but you'll be here after most folks leave, so it will be much better. The Maine Tpk. is toll, but only about $5-6 from start to finish.

RE: TV/DVD combos

We got an Insignia 26" at Best Buy for $369 a few months ago. It's light enough to move from home to RV. Nice to have to use only a power cord to view DVDs. We had 11 people watching a movie outside at our campsite last month.

RE: Fayetteville Ga?

I drove past South Oaks today on the way to see my grandkids. Nothing has changed, that's where I would stay if I were you. Turn left out of the park at the traffic light and stay on Collingsworth/Palmetto Rd. I turns into Tyrone Rd. Go left on 54 and that's a straight shot into Fayetteville. Total of 12 miles from the park - no traffic either.
Just behind the BP and Marathon stations at the exit (56) is a restaurant called "Franks". You would never stop and eat there on your own, but folks drive hours to eat there. It's looks seedy from the outside, but the food is wonderful.

RE: Fayetteville Ga?

The closest to Fayetteville is the South Oaks Mobile Home and RV Park. It's just west off exit 56 on I-85. It's more of a mobile home park than a campground, but it's a safe and convenient place with full hookups for around $25/night. There are no facilities like swimming pool, etc., but it will be an easy drive through Peachtree City to get to Fayetteville. We have stayed there a number of time for the convenience.

RE: New England Trip

If you're going "down east", you may be interested in using your passports and crossing into Canada and visiting FDR's summer White House in Campobello. You can stay at Herring Cove Provincial Park campground. From Bar Harbor east to Lubec is a whole new world. Cobscook Bay is a wonderful campground.

RE: Downloadable campground directory?

I have the latest Woodall's directory and CD. I prefer the Trailer Life book and have found the Woodall's CD to be worthless. For example - things to do within 25 miles of Savannah, GA. Hits? Zero.

RE: Golf courses Salem/Eugene OR area

One of the best deals we've found for golf and camping package is at Mallard Creek, just east of Lebanon. You'll love both the golf course and the RV park on the property. Great package rates, too.
