RE: corp of engineers parks book

I use the Camping with the COE. If anyone here mentions one of the campgrounds I put a note in if I feel the information will help me.

RE: Jimmy Hoffa

In spite of all the stuff I've seen on tv; movies and all the news programs, plus all the stuff I've read I still wonder what kind of man Hoffa really was? You have to be prepared to believe the media who I don't trust and authors who want to make money are telling the actual investigative truth. I still wonder what really happened.:h
His sister had a cottage near friends of my parents. I played with his son a few times. The Mr. Hoffa I met once or twice was no different than the fathers of any of my friends.
He did not have horns that I noticed but I was only ten and may have overlooked them.

RE: How to plan??

Much of the old 66 is heartbreaking. We often pull off to go into the small towns it goes thru.
There are several books on the 66, check to see if your library has any of them. If you find one that will help, buy it from Amazon.
I keep thinking I should get our pictures together and write a book but I also know it would be depressing.
Some state visitor centers have information that will help you.

RE: Motivating the DW

I have a bookcase in our TT almost five feet high. Two Rubbermaid boxes of books go with us. Some are his but most are mine. It rides on its back on a bunk when we travel.
I have more time to read when we are camping than I do at home. And yes we go on long hikes together so I am not just sitting around reading.

RE: Camp reccliner

When you find one you like be sure to try it out. We got some that were hard to get out of. Tossed them.
I found one I loved but it was too heavy for a 75 year old woman to carry.

RE: Inside Decorating of Camper

I almost caused a divorce because a visiting young friend saw what we had done and her husband did not allow her to make any changes. Allow!!!!!
She finally did get permission to hang a picture and a mouse ate part of their bed spread.

RE: Poor design medicine cabinet - anybody upgrade?

I knew ours was junk but I put some of the rubbery stuff you put on shelves to keep things from sliding. $1 at Dollar Tree. I did not really think it would work but I had some leftover pieces. I do not keep heavy bottles on those shelves but it holds toothpaste, lipstick, razors, other makeup, a can with toothbrushes in and deoderant. My husband knows it will not work and does not keep any of his things in it.
I keep thinking I should find something better but have not had to.

RE: New or used?

Be sure that you can have the refrigerator plugged in for a day and return the next day to see if it works.

RE: Camping pet peeve

Adults walking thru our site and dogs barking probably tie while coming in a close third is people who have to back up ten times to get into their lot and do not let the line that backs up after them move past.

RE: Having Mail Forwarded: Suggestions?

We have our mail forwarded during the winter and held during summer camping trips. I put a large print sign in the post office telling the mail person to hold or forward the mail. Sign is covered with plastic and taped in place.

RE: 1999 Trail lite Trailer dinette area

The memory foam is easy to cut and the regular foam you can get from fabric stores cuts well with a serated knife.
Someone here posted that as there were only two of them they made the dinette bed into a full time bed and sat on the sofa to eat their meals. Sounds like a good idea to me. If you do that do not go for two inch memory foam or plain foam, go thicker.

RE: Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion

The North Rim is a very long distane from the South Rim making Zion and Bryce a long distace from the south.
When we came from Zion in late March, 89 was closed and did not look like it would be open soon.
The first time we went to southern Utah we spent 12 days, each time we have gone back we have spent more time and covered less of the state.

RE: How do tent people pack?

You have to check what your children pack in the way of clothes. I just talked to a young woman at Sleeping Bear who had brought only short shorts to wear. The temperature was often in the 30s. She was an "adult" so should have known better. Your children will not.
We camp 4-6 weeks at a time in a small tent and manage. Lots of good ideas here.
In our trailer I think everything has babies.

RE: my small town

As principal of a small town high school, my husband had to send the Ag class students out to round up the cows in the school parking lot and return them down the road to the farm they came from.

RE: Im so excited, Walmart wants me to have their credit card!

My feeling are hurt, we did not get a great offer like that. Or do you have to shop at Walmart to get the offer?
I am afraid we are going to lose the credit cards we do have, because we always pay them off each month.

RE: Translation Tables for Convection/Microwave Cooking?

Go to a good bookstore and you should find cookbooks.
I do not own a convection oven but have three I bought at garage sales because I know when the microwave stops working I will get one.

RE: Have not tent camped in 30 years - update

We did the same thing. This time around we take an electric blanket, heater and fan if we are stopping at a campground that has electricity. Seldom were in campgrounds where we could use them but they were nice to have when we could.
We saw pictures of the Yellowstone sardine cans for RVs and took our tent when we went for six weeks. Had a wonderful time. Would have hated being sardined in, in the TT.

RE: Interior Upgrade advice

We bought a folding table that lays on a bed while we travel.
The grill fits on it, an electric frying pan and anything else. A card table would do but this is narrower and longer.
Friends have a grill on folding legs that they use.

RE: Biggest issue about keeping TT at home

My daughter and her husband stopped at our house to check things out while we were gone. Two neighbors came over to see who it was and the police car stopped. Shopping Guide picked up and lawn mowed.
Really small town.
