RE: Fudge!

You can also microwave this recipe for three mins. before adding the vanilla then stir it well, add the nuts and treatment as regular fudge.

Pecan Point RV Park, Dothan, Ala

We had a major problem with our motor home right in front of this RV park on Dec. 18 as we were heading to Florida for Christmas with family and friends. The managers were right there to try to help us. The problem required a call to Good Sams to have a truck mechanic sent out. The wonderful people who have this campground had us pull into an empty site for the night at. The campground may not have all the fancy frills that some have, but it was super clean and friendly. We'd stay there again without a second thought. Oh yes, evidentially they are built in a pecan grove and you can just pick them up off the ground. Yum, yum fresh pecans.

Good Sams To The Rescue!

Early on the evening of Dec.18 my husband smelled smoke in the motor home as we were traveling through southern Alabama. We pulled off as soon as possible and saw smoke billowing from the right front tire. After making sure it wasn't going to burst into flames we were able to pull into a lot that was offered to us by the campground we were in front of. We called Good Sams for help. The gentleman who took our call was very pleasant. We said we would rather someone come out the next day since it was nearly dark. He said someone would call us at 8 a.m. And probably someone out to fix the prolpblem around 9 a.m. Well, there was no call and no repairman the next morning. After a couple of hours, we called Good SAMs again. There had been a mistake made, but they got on the ball and had a mechanic out to us quite quickly. The mechanic verified the brake caliper had stuck. He had to find a part the part for our 2001 Beaver, but he did a very good job and we were pleased. And we were very, very pleased with our treatment by Good Sams. Mistakes can and do happen and we honestly feel that the original person. We spoke to just made a mistake. Thank you, Good Sams for getting us back on the road.

RE: Your Bucket List

The two top things on my bucket list are the Calgary Stampede and Alaska. I also have to get my DH to Sacramento, CA to get his birth certificate amended so that we can go to those two place. A lot of places we'd like to go, but those are the top ones right now.

RE: Suggestions for Christmas list?

Some very important items we also have in our RV are a carbon monoxide detector and smoke detectors. We also have several fire extinguishers. Must haves. We have seen where people have died in their units do to carbon monoxide from other people's units.

RE: Decorating the rv for christmas

We've never been on the road at Christmas before, but we're hoping to be visiting friends and family in Florida this year. I am taking a miniature Christmas tree, my Creche and as many other decorations as I can put in or on the outside of our motorhome. I also have several strings of mini lights that operate on batteries that I'm sure I'll be able to use.

RE: Suggestions for Christmas list?

A set of dishes. I got a service for four that stays in our motorhome. In fact, the motorhome pretty much has its own set of everything so we don't have to haul back and forth to the house. Any small appliance that you use regularly would be great so you don't have to move them back and forth. I have duplicates of most of my home small appliances that stay in the motorhome. I think you can get any of this for less than $30, expecially if you hit the sales.

RE: left over turkey?

We've been eating turkey sandwiches - love them. I put some homemade cranberry sauce on mine. I put the turkey carcass in my crockpot with some water last night and have some gorgeous turkey broth. I'll freeze it and some of the little bit of turkey that's still left in order to make soup whenever we want it.

RE: Chili

I love chili, either with or without beans. However, buffalo chili is my favorite.

RE: Lick-the-Bowl Cranberry Sauce

Love the sound of that recipe and will have to try it. Its very similar to one I make that is sugar free. Thanks for this recipe!

I use the silicone brushes, too, Leo.

RE: Quit Traditional Greasing & Flouring Baking Pans

No problem, Go Dogs. Everyone is different and that's the way we're suppose to be. I like it more than the sprays because of no over-spray and I know exactly what is in it. Yes, you have to wash the pastry brush, but its so neat to be able to get in each and every crevice of fancy baking pans. You're welcome.

Quit Traditional Greasing & Flouring Baking Pans

This is a recipe I've used for years and never had anything stick. PAN COATING FOR BAKING 1/2 cup flour 1/2 cup vegetable shortening 1/2 cup vegetable oil Mix well with a hand mixer and store in a covered container. Store and use at room temperature. Use a pastry brush to apply to baking pans. You don't need to grease and flour the pans when using this mixture.

RE: Big Cherry Candy Bar; How I love thee:)

Don't know if you will see this or not, but I went to Hobby Lobby today and sitting right at the registers' candy displays were Cherry Mash candy. Picked up one for myself.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

I'm sure others do this, but just in case, I bought some skirt hangers where you can hang several skirts, one below the other and that's what we use for hanging shorts and even some of my capri pants. Like others, I've bought the hangers where you can hang tops on their hangers, one below the other. Sure expands your closet space.

RE: It's starting to feel like soup weather.........

That looks so good! Will have to try it. We've had soup, stew and chili several times in the last two weeks. Never had split pea soup, but made it and both DH (who is a picky eater) and I really liked it.

RE: BORED with FOOD!!!!!!

Put a roast and veggies in the crock pot this morning for later today. Smells so good and comforting. Made a batch of lasagna a couple of days ago. Used the Foreman for N.Y. strip steaks day before yesterday. Also, I've started on the soups and chili. DH and I still enjoy a good soup in the summer time. Stick a good round steak or chicken or pork chops in your crock pot, cover with an appropriate undiluted cream soup and you have a great meal with gravy. You can even stick veggies in with any of them. Put a turkey breast, a real one, in the crock pot and within 8 hours it is tender and juicy. I like all the other suggestions for cooking, too, especially the cast iron. I don't think we could ever get bored with food.

RE: YOU drove??? ;^)

I used to drive when towing our 27' 5th wheel and people thought that was something, but now we have a 40' diesel class A and when I mention I drive it, people react with total surprise. "You drive it?" I really and truly don't understand why they find it so amazing. As long as you remember you have to make wider turns and the rear end will swing out a little when you do, there isn't any problem.

RE: Breakfast Ideas

You're welcome, Linda. Road runners, I'm going to use your recipe. It sounds fast and easy and my DH loves egg sandwiches.
