RE: Concerned about Campground power issues

I am the "OP" then. The difficulty in chasing after the campground owners is that if you complain too much, they ask you politely to leave. We love it there and I would rather spend the $300 for an autoformer and solve my problem then leave. I know that it sounds off the wall, but my kids love it there and their happiness is worth a few extra dollars.

RE: Concerned about Campground power issues

Not sure what you are referring to as "OP". I have no idea if the voltage at the pedestal is staying up ? How would I check for that ? If there is a bad 30A plug/socket connection or a bad connection in the RV panel, how do I check for that ?

RE: Concerned about Campground power issues

Okay folks, so here it is. I went out and purchased a TRC Digital Voltage Meter and have been monitoring it for the last 10 days. Here are my findings; Weekends with A/C on only - 99-105 volts Weekends with no A/C on - 108-115 volts Weekdays with A/C on only - 104-108 volts Weekdays with no A/C on - 109-116 volts Keep in mind that with the A/C on, there was nothing else on at the time for the fear that I would blow another breaker which I have already done twice so far. Based on what you see above, do you think that an autoformer would help prevent any potential damage to any of my electronics if I continue the way that I am. Thanx... Rich..

RE: Concerned about Campground power issues

I have taken your advice and have had all electrical components, connections and contacts in the trailer checked out by my dealer who wasn't too happy having to drive 2.5 hours each way to get to my campground. They concluded after spending over an hour verifying all my electrical within my new TT, that everything is correct and working well. The technician did suggest that if I was concerned, that I should install a 120 volt AC digital panel that can be used to monitor the AC voltage. The unfortunate part was that he didn't tell me where I could get one or how it is installed. I am reaching out once again to all of you for your thoughts and recommendations on where to find one of those meters and how to install it. Thanx.. Rich..

RE: Concerned about Campground power issues

There is a total of 5 breakers in the box all being individual breakers with no ties. It is clearly marker "10" on each of the switch parts that you use to flip once a breaker has been tripped.

RE: Concerned about Campground power issues

Thanx for the response. So, the million dollar question here is... Is the autoformer the answer to all of my concerns. Does any of you currently use this product ? Any feedback would be appreciated.

RE: Concerned about Campground power issues

Okay, so do I require a SP,EMS or Autoformer ? Do I need all of them ? Is there one product out there that has all of these functions ? I want to protect my investment and would require the right equipment to do so, except it is so confusing because there doesn't seem to be a consensus on exactly what I would need. Can you please explain the advantages of each of the above products and what the correct solution would be. Thanx.. Rich..

RE: Concerned about Campground power issues

Okay, so if I wasn't nervous about this before, I am now. Obviously, it looks like the campground is doing what they have to do to get by and are not protecting me they way they should, so, I will have to protect myself. I have been looking at SP's and EMS and don't know anyone around me who are using them (not something that I am willing to do at this point). I don't mind spending the money to protect my investment, but, where do I start. There are some SP's out there that don't look like much and then there are those with digital displays and those that will provide a power boost if the voltage goes low. EMS is completely new to me and do I go hardwired or portable. Is there any independent review of all of these products done by an organization that will rate them? I guess the best reviews are by those of you who have them, so, please give me your best recommendation. Thanx.. Rich..

RE: Concerned about Campground power issues

I am positive that all of the five breakers in the locked electrical box were 10 amps a piece.

RE: Cover for Slideout Switch...

Concerned about Campground power issues

We are seasonal campers and have been at the same campground for the last 4 years. We just recently bought a new 31 foot TT and I have so far blown the breaker twice this season. I am aware never to turn anything on other than lights while the A/C is on and did not at the time of the breakers blowing. While they were flipping it back last weekend, I noticed that the breaker was 10 amps. I am concerned more about doing damage to my TT then to their breaker that has blown. Any suggestions or ideas ? Thanx... Rich...

Cover for Slideout Switch...

It has been almost 2 months now and we are enjoying our new TT immensely. I have discovered that on many occasions, instead of turning the light switch on or off, we accidentally push the Slide switch. Has anyone found a cover that I can install over the slide switch so that I can stop confusing it for the light switch in the dark ? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanx.. Rich...
