RE: Shoes, Shoes and more shoes.

Get these type of shelves, cut to the width of your stairs, install upside down under teh stairs with the back supported by the stai crossbrace and use spring loaded bars across the front for support. Make sure to get the shelves that have a lip, not just the flat ones. i hope this makes sense.

RE: Please Help Us- First time RVers and Pulling Our Hair Out

The tow capacity of your truck varies greatly based upon the rear end. Check to see if you have a higher capacity then you think:

RE: Please Help Us- First time RVers and Pulling Our Hair Out

Not trying to be a smart *** but any opinion that you get here on a one sentence description is most likely brand bias. You have seen them and have a good idea of what you are looking for. Just make the best choice based upon your wants and needs and don't over think it. Enjoy

RE: Can I use a cheap battery Carbon Monoxide Detector in my TT?

Absolutly. Most CO detectors are battery powered, the one in my camper is.

RE: Electrical Help

I plugged into a different circuit. I am going to replace the GFCI in the house and go back to that circuit just to double check that that breaker was indeed the cause. Man there are a lot of smart, helpful people on here.

RE: Electrical Help

First, thanks to everyone for their help. The GFCI that keeps tripping is in the house. First thing I am going to do is try a house circuit not on a GFCI. I know sometimes they do get too sensitive.
My converter is a Xanttrex 80 amp.
I will let you know the outcome.

RE: Electrical Help

Well I did a circuit by circuit check and it appears to be the converter. I changed the battery to one that is charged and tomorrow I will try to find out what the issue is. Thanks for the help.

RE: Electrical Help

Yes it is but it is the same one I have used for the pass few years. I have unplugged the camper but use the same outlet to trickle charge the home generator

Electrical Help

I keep my Montana 5th wheel plugged in to keep the battery up. It has been tripping the house circuit breaker everytime. I have a Surge Guard installed but I have had this set up for years with no issue. I have unplugged everything but it continues to trip. I assume I have a dead short or bad ground. My question is what is the best (easiest) way to track it down. Thanks.

RE: Anybody run Maine Tags on their trailer

You cannot get RV tags, just boat, utility, box trailers and the like. I also live in Maryland, land of high taxes and tag fees. Here is the address of where I got my baot tags and it explains the limitations.

RE: Help with Generac Generator

Your generator may need flashing. This is just running power into the geneerator backwards. Do a search and there is all kinds of information. This usually needed because people will start their generator to exercise it but don't put a load on which is needed too.

RE: Propane not CO detector update 11-19-12

Are you in need of a CO or propane detector? Regardless if it has lived it life it needs to be replaced. It works all the time because it does not know when your propane is on or off. People with 20 year old detectors who say it still works only know that the test button works. There is no method to know at what concentration of CO or propane it will alarm. I am sure a 14 year old CO detector will sound if you run the unit in the garage but did it sound at al level that would allow you to wake up and get out in the middle of the night? The test button test power only. You can get a combo CO and propane detector for less than $100, and smoke alarms for under $20. A very good investment!!!
Repalce your batteries every spring at the begining of camping season.

RE: $5.00 part for Fords

A couple of things. The air above the water does increase in pressure as the liquid expands (take the cap off of a soda bottle that has been shook up, the carbination increases the pressure instead of heating the fluid but the same principle). Compressed gas is the creation of pressure. The degass cap does not create more pressure, it does not release the pressure until it gets to 16psi, which is needed to increase the boiling point.

$5.00 part for Fords

I am no mechanic but after watching this video I figured for $5.00 it won't hurt to do this.

RE: Goodyear china bomb attacks another!

I joint the club too and it is very large. I spoke with many people over the last three weeks who have lost tires (just look at the wheel wells in a large campground and you will most likely see someone with damage). I lost one going down to Myrtle Beach and one comming back. I set the cruise control at 62, Checked pressure EVERY time before leaving and do a visual at every stop. I won't say these tires have never seen 70 mph but it has been rare and never for an extended period.
Lets stop blaming the RV owners. It these tire wer on "occupant "vehicles there would be a all kinds of press. It the failure level is so close to the maximums there is a need for redesign of tires or adding a third axle to most large 5th wheels. I am tired of hearing the temerature excuse too. The same temperature is what the tow vehicle is exposed to.
I intend to contact NTSB and DOT to submit whatever I cna to try and and make these manufactures responsible.
After the second failure I went to the closest large tire dealership and had three requirements for my new tires:
1. No ST on the side
2. Load capacity for my trailer
3. No Goodyear on the side ( know they are not the only ones with this issue but they were what failed on mine and they have lost me as a customer for any tires for life). As big as acompany as they are if there is a quality control issue in there China plant eiter fix it or shut it down. The great thing about this country is it is my money and I can use it as I see fit!
