RE: Booth dinettes???

Before you switch, you may want to give the table & chairs a try. We had the booth type in a couple of rv's and now have the table & chairs, we also thought the booth was the only way to go, but now I wouldn't switch back. Paul...

RE: Fresh water check valve replacement

The easiest way is to get a plastic screw in plug. I've done this on three different rv's. Just screw it into the inlet where the hose goes in. Paul...

RE: vent cap

There are no covers on the s&b but there are boots that surround the down pipe. To my surprise, when I went to replace the cap on my gray tank vent, after taking off the old cap, there was a 2" space between the roof vent and the actual vent pipe. If mine doesn't have the cap on it and it rains, I would have water issues with the roof. Just saying you won't know until you take a look on how it is put together. Paul...

RE: AIR MATTRESS

RE: toilet question

Ours does that when it is nearing a full tank. If your tank is empty, your vent stack may be plugged. Paul...

Texas State Parks

I've looked at the Texas State Parks website and can't seem to find an answer to my question. Does anyone know if all of the camp sites are reserveable or do they hold some for first come first serve. Or is it a mixed bag with some that do or some that don't. In checking reserveworld.com most parks show no sites available during the time from March 8-15 so I'm wondering if they hold some spots back for those who just show up. Thanks for any info. Paul...

RE: Should I upgrade engine fan?

Something you mentioned "I had chnged the antifreeze just prior to the trip when I replaced the large radiator hoses" makes me think you may have a air bubble in the system. Have you rechecked the fluid levels, the air bubble, if there, should work it's way out. I would check the fluid levels, may have to let it run with the radiator cap loose to release the air. Just an idea. Paul...

RGV Snowbirds

The television weather report is calling for 70 mph winds for later tonight (01/08/13). Just wondering what your plans are. The television says to have a weather radio (we do) and if the winds pick up to that speed to find shelter...hmmm... at midnight or after I'm not so sure I want to walk a couple of blocks in the wind and rain, it could be more dangerous that riding it out. I know that when on the road we don't have a problem heading into winds like that what with the vehicle speed and head wind speed but... I'm not so sure about a side wind of that speed. I don't think it will be a problem but just wanted to see what others have to say. Thanks. Paul...

RE: Minnesota to South Texas

While in San Antonio we stayed at the Blazing Star RV Park, it was nice. Our favorite spot near Corpus Christi is Goose Island State Park near Rockport, TX. You can camp either on the water front or in the wooded area, it has a 1500' fishing pier with free fishing if you are staying there. It's about 30 miles north of Corpus Christi. We are in the RGV now and are staying at Tropic Winds RV Resort, it's very nice with large spots and a lot of activities. Paul...

RE: Minnesota to South Texas

We are from Minnesota and have traveled this route a few times. Most big cities have a loop which takes you around them. Places to stay are Eldorado State Park near Eldorado, Kansas - Lake Murray State Park near Ardmore, Oklahoma - McKinney Falls State Park near Austin, Texas. These are all with a good days drive of one another. Where is Texas are you headed for. If you have any questions, let us know. Paul...

RE: Front landing jack clicking and not lifting

Ours did the same click click click for about 7 years but got progressively worse. I ended up replacing the motor as there is a clutch type assembly built into the motor and they don't sell parts. After getting the new motor, things work as they are supposed to with no clicking. I took the old motor and clutch assembly apart just to see how it works and found a spring loaded pressure plate which sandwiched 4 ball bearings. The pressure plate had 4 small indents where the ball bearings rest. You could easily see that the ball bearings had rotated with each click and wore grooves into the pressure plates. I assume as the grooves deepened with each click, they made it easier for the ball bearings to slip out of their resting place. If I could have found a new pressure plate, it would have been an easy fix, but I couldn't find the parts. I suppose a person could have the pressure plate resurfaced and then make the ball bearing indents deeper but for the $150.00 for the new motor installed, I went that route. Hope this helps. Paul...

Battery Size

I am replacing the 12 volt battery in my 5th wheel and would like some input. Currently have a 12 volt marine battery from Walmart. I have 2 slides (bedroom & living room) both are run on a hydraulic motor. I also have the landing gear motor which is electric. This is all I use the battery for as we never camp without electricity and the only other thing needing a battery is the fridge (on propane) while in transit. Should I just get a marine battery or just a car battery. I don't know that I need a true deep cycle. My question is how many amp battery should I get. If you need to put more information, let me know. Thanks. Paul...

RE: Tire suggestion?

I have 285 x 17's on my 2010 3500HD Chevy, stock is 265's. When I turn the wheels too tight they scrape on the wheel wells and front torsion bar, they do this more often if there is any little dip in the road when turning. I'm going back to 265's next time. I should add I brought it to the Chevy dealer and their only idea was to tighten the spring bars (don't know the right name) to raise the front, I declined as it sits too high now. Paul...

RE: The Kitchen Sink

Update on repairs to the sink. Went to Walmart, picked up two standard size stainless steel basket assemblies and some plumbers putty. It took about 1/2 hour start to finish with the replacement. Checked for leaks and found none. Just thought I would follow up in case someone else is thinking about replacing the plastic with metal sink baskets. Paul...

The Kitchen Sink

I have a plastic kitchen sink in my 03 Cardinal 5th wheel and the drain basket assembly is looking tacky, I want to replace it with a metal one, and am wondering if just a regular home basket assembly will work. I'm sure it will work but am wondering if there are different sizes or are they pretty much standard. It needs to connect to the black abs plastic screw together connection. Just looking for some advise. Thanks. Paul...

The Valley

This will be our first year to try the Rio Grand Valley. We are from Minnesota and are currently in Rockport,Tx and headed south. I have read several posts about the Valley and still have a couple or three questions. #1: We want a landing spot to begin with so we can look around. I'm thinking the central area but have no idea of which park to start with, any one have a suggestion. #2: I see most all parks say plus electric for the monthly rates. Can anyone give me a rough estimate on the monthly cost. Will run air and electric heater as needed. I don't expect an exact amount, just a rough idea. #3: Any other suggestions are welcome. We like to socialize, golf, fish and food. Thanks. Paul...

RE: Do you use magnets on a door?

I put these on my screen door and it works well, just don't lean on it as it will open pretty easy. Also put them on a couple of cupboards that were hard to open. http://www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai=CT-NBShecUIm4Oqyf8gG7kIHYAvvoqe0By8SQ7xzD-cCwRwgGEAUgtlQoCFCp4PqZ_f____8BYMnO64mUpNgWoAHB48H_A8gBB6oEIU_QlcnJILEIl8Sen_kKDm66jhnWsUf6Vu-pxxV1iLdASoAFkE7ABQWgBibgEsqY8Oex6aGWDQ&sig=AOD64_1J_lrw01mC6ueAzOpiHu5XCb6Eow&ctype=5&ved=0CLkBEPMO&adurl=http://mobilehomepartsstore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc%3FScreen%3DPROD%26Product_Code%3D460351%26Store_Code%3DMHPS%26gdftrk%3DgdfV21960_a_7c335_a_7c4581_a_7c2510&rct=j&q=cabnet+door+magnets
