RE: Are CB radios still used?

No ideas...but I have had the GPS working perfectly with no cell reception many times. That is because the GPS system doesn't use the cell towers. It uses "Low Earth Orbit" (LEO) satellites. As long as your GPS receiver can "see" three or more of these satellites, it can calculate your position to within a few feet. There are very few places on the planet where it won't work as long as it has a clear view of the sky. and this helps you avoid traffic jams, delays, wrecks, tells you which lane is getting through, etc. exactly how??? bumpy I doesn't. The traffic app lets me know what lane is blocked and has access to the cameras on the freeway to SW can see what is happening. Paul

RE: Are CB radios still used?

Recently bought my new motorhome (1994 Newmar). It has a factory CB radio in it. Was rather surprised, as CBs had long since faded away. However, in looking, I see that CBs are still options in even brand new motorhomes. Are people still using these? I haven't used one in years. CB radios have not faded away. I use mine when approaching a city to chat with oncoming truckers to see if I should take N or S bypass or continue straight thru town. also at Richmond to see if I should take 295 or stay on I-95 to go through. and IMHO a cell phone is worthless for this task, who you gonna call, ghost busters? from my experience the "bad language" is not what it is blown up to be and if it occurs it is only transient in nature. bumpy I use my smart phone and check the traffic app. Has not let me down yet. RE: "how to" on installing a 30 amp plug at your home?

You might not need a 30 amps. 20 is enough unless you need to run the A/C and the microwave at the same time. You can wire a 20 amp circuit using a 30 amp RV outlet if you don't want to use an adaptor. Eric X2. This is how I did mine. I have 20 amp going to a 30 amp plug. I can run the AC no problem with no voltage drop. The circuit breaker is the 20 amp so all is safe. If I overload it it would shut off. So far I have not over loaded it. Paul

RE: Transfer tanks...anybody use one?

I have a transfer flow and it is great. I really like driving by the gas stations. Paul

RE: generator in an old rv

As Bear said most manuals are available on the Onan site. As far as wiring the quickest easiest is to put a jbox with a female socket in it that feeds the motorhome. Then put a matching male plug on you power cord and anther matching plug on the cord from the genset. This solves transfer switch issues and is the simplest connection, and how manufacturer's used to wire the units. X2

RE: bounce in trl when parked

x chocks also help a lot.

RE: FAIL COLORADO EMISSION TEST

In WA state if you have "approx" $350.00 in repairs and you still fail you can get a waiver and you are good to go for 2 years. The $ for repairs can be spark plugs, carb adjust, thermostat, etc as long as it an emissions qualified mechanic doing the repairs. I did this to my 86 Minni Winni I use to own. I actually passed emissions after having the service done but I would have gotten a waiver either way. I do not know if CO has the same law. Paul

RE: LED bulbs not sticking

Hmm. Mine all fell off and are held in place by the "lens" I did not even notice until I was showing them to my dad. Since I did not even notice they get to stay held up by the "lens"

RE: Battery Case Tie Down Straps

I ran a metal strap all the way around my batteries held together with a padlock to slow down thieves.

RE: Has Anybody added a Vent Fan w/No 12v connection?

In the bedroom I have a light near the vent. I removed the frame of the vent and could see the wires so I put the powered van in and tapped into the light wire. Super easy. Paul

RE: clorox bleach in diesel

How did this happen? I would NOT start the engine and I would definitely get the tank drained. Paul

RE: hitch blocked by another trailer

When I was adjusting my weight distribution I parked the trailer in front of my house and disconnected the truck. I had the truck in the driveway to make the adjustments and some yahoo parked right in front of the trailer. I knocked on doors and within 5 minutes found who it was and they moved. Have you tried that yet? Paul

RE: Smokers - Electric or Charcoal?

I use electric when smoking fish and charcoal for smoking beef, chicken and ribs. I have a big green egg at home and I also have a Weber performer. The weber is light and very easy to use so I take it camping with me. I use a big chief smoker for my fish. MMMMmmm.. Paul

RE: Sulphur Smell .....Epilogue

My trailer will have a smell after traveling sometimes. I flush the tanks and all is good again. No smell when not moving ever. Paul

RE: Bed Mod

Your rubber foam will make a big difference if you have the foam mattresses. I though about doing this under my dinette cushions as well. Paul

RE: Ram, good enough for Superman

Well at least with Super man if the Ram breaks down he can fly it to the repair shop. If the job is too tough for the truck he can help it... Sorry could not resist. Paul

My neighbor bought the HF unit a couple of years ago. Works great so far. I bought the ultra fab unit refurbished. It also is great. Paul

RE: Between the tires chocks?

I recommend both. I use the plastic ones for extra security and the x chocks for stability.

RE: Do you care

It is easier to lube the wheel bearings on a steel wheel. On my aluminum I have to remove the wheel from the hub first. On my boat with the steel wheel I have access to the dust cover and castle nut. Paul

RE: want towing opinion

I checked my trailer tires, they're ST's with no 65mph limit listed on the sidewall. Where would we see this 65mph limit? All tires have a "speed rating" It might be designated with a letter you have to look up.
