RE: Using sani-con

I use my black tank flusher when using the sanicon when getting close to empty. The sanicon cannot do its job if "stuff" stays in the tank. I know it is against the manuals but after finishing dumping, I leave the flusher on for a few moments to add back liquid to the back tank to reduce the possibility of TP or solids making pyramids or blocking the sensors. We have two baths. The half bath is right over the black tank and is a foot flusher (little water use) so we try to use that one for #1 business. The rear bath is a macerating electric throne which uses more water so we try to leave that one for #2 business. We can go longer before having to dump with this plan and have not had odor or other issues so far.

RE: New invention could benefit RVers.

Remember the 70s-80s and the OTR trucking industry? Most of the tractors were flat front/cab-over-engine design. Driver visibility, maneuverability, shorter tractor/longer trailer gave way to better fuel economy.

RE: Fastway Flip Jack Foot

Bought one when I had the TT but took it back when I read all of the instructions. I was hoping the holes for the OEM foot and flip foot would align but they are 90 degrees out on our Rockwood 2902SS so drilling is required. More important is the warning about using it on un-level ground. Campsites are not a problem as I level before using the tongue jack but our storage lot is not level.

RE: Help! How to remove screen door?

On my 2006 there are 8 screws attaching the combo door/screen hinge. Just take them off the screen door side. Helps if you have two people. Two of the screws have nuts so it is difficult to be on both sides of the door at once. Stubby screwdriver also helps. I removed mine so I can make lexan panels for the screen door. I was able to use the existing turn knobs that hold the upper screen in place and its storage slot on the lower door. Now I can leave the main door open and not let the heat/AC out.

RE: Newbie from VA

Hi neighbor. Lived in Braemar from 2002-2009. Now in Gainesville. Try Bull Run Park but watch what is happening at the venue area and at the Dulles Expo. Beerfest (BRP) and the Gun Show (at Dulles Expo) are good times to avoid the park if you have kids.

RE: What new gear or gadgets are you RVing with this summer?

I need a new television antenna. One that doesn't rattle all night when the wind blows. Going to try a jack antenna. B.O. If your current batwing rattles, the Jack will also. It uses the same mount unless you get he complete Jack and drill holes in your roof.

RE: My Video Of LED Light Strips For Awning

Question for those who wired directly into 12v. On other threads by those who replaced interior lights with LEDs they said that any voltage over 12v will get converted to heat. Some have said too hot to touch. RV converter's generate DC that is just over 14v. This would be a problem for interior, closed light fixtures but not for outside. So the question--would the heat at 14v melt the waterproofing? My Amazon 150 x 5050 SMD LEDs are weatherproofed by a flat 'tube' that runs the full length of the LED strip.

RE: Newbie from VA

Great truck and trailer. The park on the other hand is not much to write home about. Close spaces. Basically angled parking lots with little room in between spaces. Your picnic table will be sitting right next to your neighbor's sewer inlet. We had to unhook as we were too long for the isle when we had the F150/145WB and TT/26BH.

RE: Replacing the near worthless CH751 RV locks

I replaced mine with combination dial locks (I set the combo I wanted). That way I did not need keys when I needed into a compartment (in storage, on the road, camping). Then I put my back up entrance door key in a hidden area in one of the compartments. I can't get locked out and if I get all the way to the storage lot and forgot the keys, I can get in. No additional security than the CH751 key but a lot more convienent.

RE: RVQ poor performance

Did you get a chance to check the stove's burners as suggested? On our first (used) TT (Jayco) it came with the RVQ. It also had a mini regulator on it (approx 1"x1"). The other problem was operator error. I often opened the tank valves quickly after setting up. I since the jumper hose (TT to RVQ)was "empty" and I left the grill "on" my quick opening of the tank valve caused the tank regulator to think there was disconnect so it closed and only allow a very low-flow of propane. I still have the low-flow issue with our camp chef stove and 20lb tank as well as our home grill and 20lb tank if I open the valve quickly and an "open" burner knob. On these grills I get a high-pitched whistle so I know to try again (that and the low flame).

RE: T.V.

You need to provide more information so we can help. While trying it at home were you plugged into cablebox, satbox or antenna? Given the year of your MH, I'm guessing the TV is analog and cannot process digital Over-The-Air (without a separate converter box). It will work on a Satbox or Cablebox.

RE: Help With Satellite TV System

If all else fails and you resort to the batwing, check to see that your TV has a digital tuner or you have to get a digital converter box to receive Over-The-Air signals. My 06 has a LCD TV(with HDMI connector) but not a digital tuner.

RE: Etiquette Question

I dump the grey the night before departing then turn off the city water/remove the hose and turn on the water pump. Open the faucets and drain most of the FW into the grey. The morning of departure the grey is used to rinse the slinky after dumping the black tank. This leave only a little to drain on the gravel at the storage lot.

RE: DIY PVC Pipe Projects

Buzzardbuzzard's stand looked so easy I had to give it a try. A couple of FYIs. 1)Dry fit the parts first. Expect a PITA to get them apart for glueing. The wet-glued parts will not go in as far as when dryfitted. 2)The glue dries fast so make sure the legs are at the angle you want quickly. 3)Never cut PVC with a power compound mitre saw unless you want to pick pieces of plastic out of everything for years to come-darn static electricity. Any suggestions on how to get the pipe lettering/barcodes off besides sandpaper? Googone-Nope. Mineral spirits-Nope. My second attempt with the legs. The first was way off. It looked like a Giraffe walking. PIX

RE: plugged into 220 by accident, lights will not work

Can you elaborate on how this happened so others will not make the same mistake? I thought the plug prong arrangement prevented this.

RE: The Hartford Rule Concerning Insurance

USAA will do boats and travel trailers but not Motorhomes. I have 3 cars with them and when we upgraded to the MH I had to look for HM Ins. Progressive was way high, followed by Geico, then Good Sam/GM. Hartford was the best for us at the time (Nov 2012). Hartford asked who I insured the cars with but nothing more was said.
