RE: Trying to get sewer system on custom trailer

You could look into something like this Bathroom ejector system. It will have to be vented and you might want a way to flush clean water through it when disconnecting from system.

RE: 50 amp connectors

You can find it at any decent electrical supply, they aren't cheap. You can expect to pay 70 and up for the twist connector alone. Bill

RE: RVing with a cat

I used to have an old White long haired yellow eyed beast of a cat 22 Lbs. When he would see use packing up he'd be right on the Dash of the Mow home. The two dogs always had to have second choice. One year in Texas he wouldn't come in the park was pretty well fenced in (my mistake). Used to get up the gas tank. About three O'clock in the morning we heard the attack. I jumped up and with my little LED flash light went out looking for the him. Only fur and more fur, the LED made it look Nice and White. Needles to say, about 7:00 in the morning, I opened the door and there he was on the bottom step, licking the blood off his paws and side. Picked him up and brought him in , then started the damage hunt. Not a scratch on him. Later that morning driving out I found the coyote, dead near the main entrance. You will find most parks require all animals to be leashed. He hated the leash but he would always stay around me or the RV.... He passed away last winter 17 years of age. Sill miss him to this day.
If you pet likes to ride, then go for it and see how it goes. The biggest problem is the kitty litter box. At two in the morning it has a way of waking you up when it's used. LOL... JM2Cents.

RE: Is being a Good Sam Member worth it?

You can tell them not send junk mail, and they do listen. But for the most part it depends on what you do for RV'ing. I have there roadside assistance and the EMS. The EMS if used once can be well worth the $125 a year fee. EMS is Emergency Medical Service. If you in the middle of desert and a hospital is 150 miles - they will pay for the air lift out should you need it.
There roadside assistance - is for any car my wife or myself happen to be in. Not just the RV and Trailer. You tell me. I go cross country twice a year, I wouldn't leave home without it. JM2Cents. Bill

RE: Differences between 13.5k and 15k AC

You find the larger unit will most likely produce more air, but that difference is in the total amount of latent heat the unit will remove.(more cooling). They will both fit in the same hole. What might want to consider - how good of a job the 13K did. The 15K will have less run time because it is cooling quicker. It is also removing more moisture from the space. Less run time means less mositure removed. 90% of the work on AC is removing the Moisture. Once the mositure is removed, then the unit can realy begin to work for you.
Thats why they tell you to keep your doors and windows closed.
On a side note you be using more power to run the larger unit. Depending on your location and the outside temp. The larger unit would be the better choice knowing how hot RV's can be.

RE: Neck and/or shoulder pain after driving for long periods?

I found the lumbar setting on the seat effects my back and shoulders, also my tumb tends to lock up after 10 to 15 days of driving. Other then that I just don't give anyone the thumbs up anymore. Bill

RE: RAIN WATER From ROOF AIR DUCTS

I would be more suspect of the caulking needing attention. It could be coming in from any one of the caulked seems and flowing the duct to towards the front. JM2Cents Bill
Are you sure it is a 15 degree pitch. If it is, the water could very well be coming in around the AC. That would have a water flow rate better then the Colorado River

RE: Gray tank vent?

Most likely through the roof, there should be two vent caps up there. One is the black tank and the other is grey.

RE: HWH Jack question

It appears the controller said you were level, with the additional jack being down, as mentioned above, Manualy lowering the jack will add to the stability of the unit or look for a place that isn't so level to park. I would chose the manual method over the later. JM2Cents Bill

RE: What setup do I need for SAT TV

I seem to run mine for 4 hours a night, TV and receiver, but I'm on two deep cycle batteries. Allot will have to do with your Amp draw and the size of the TV you planing on watching. I have a six inch TV that will run continous for days. My 40" will go for about an hour. The 19 Inch I run for four hours.
A 400 Watt inverter - single sine wave should work fine. You can also pick up one of those cheap 1200 Watt generator, that will recharge the batteries through your on board converter. If you plan using it often, I would look into the quiter Honda or equal. But then the dollars start to add up. Most inverters will shut off or sound an alarm when a low voltage contiction exist. Note that you must likely not be allowed to use a generator after 8:00 or so due to quite hours imposed at most campgrounds. So consider a second battery might be on the Horizen after your first weekend and test the waters. Good luck and happy camping Bill.

RE: Things That Make You Go "Huh?"

Some manufactures let you decide, I guess left handed verses light hand, long arms verses short arms. Mine was under the sink in a box along with the towel bars. During the Walk thru they told they would mount them where I wanted. I told them to let them be. Since my wife has a whole different concept on where thing should be, I couldn't see have the new bathroom look like peg board with all the holes. LOL... Bill

I guess it was because allot folks complained that they didn't want email notifications. Personnaly I don't like email notifications, but like to subscribe so I can keep track of the post I have commented to. If I got and email for every post my mail box would be full in no time. That that generator/coffee post - over 100 emails would have been sent to me. JM2Cents Bill

RE: Hard-Wired Inverter for travel trailer

As mentioned above, powering up a Microwave might be a little to aggressive on the standard batter pack in your trailer. But running TV's, laptop computers, cellphone charges, dvd plays is nice. Being able to due at the push of a button even makes it nicer. Here is one option you like to review. One way to due it.

RE: Duct in floor

I installed real steel screens within my RV floor vents as well. Simple cut and "friction fit" them inside the register. Also installed steel screen under the gas furnace heat output chamber area as well. At rear of trailer, I also replaced the factory tin-foil flex heat pipe with a real steel flex pipe as well. These upgrades (using real steel parts from local hardware store) keeps critters out of the heat duct system. Been running this way for years and never had an air flow problem.
If wondering, I also remove these floor vents every 12 months, reach a vacuum cleaner hose deep inside its heat ducting and also wipe (as far as I can reach) clean with damp rag as well. And, I also wash / rinse the screens to ensure their natural trapped particles are removed as well. Thus, help reduce its natural dust build up in the areas I can see / reach from above as well.
IMO, one can use a custom Air Filter or Steel Screen inserts in a TT as well. Just like a stick house forced air furnace uses a filter system as well. But if using a filter system (or steel screens), remember to keep them clean. A plugged filter in a house furnace is bad. And, a plugged trailer AC filter is bad. And, a plugged air duct filter (or steel screen) in a trailer air-flow ducting is bad as well. Thus, always remember to "keep them clean" - every 6 to 12 months (depending on usage) - like I do…
It's just basic physics'. Try it some time. You can't blow air thru a screen (you can but the efficiency drops to almost null. On a home furnace the filter is on the inlet side, not the discharge side for a reason, same thing on your AC unit.
I would like you to take a household floor fan, put a window screen on the discharge side, and see how much air you get through it. Then put it on suction side (inlet side) of the fan. You will notice a vast difference in the air flow between the two positions. Try it. I don't make this stuff up. If you are happy with the performance of your unit then so be it. It will not harm the unit, it will only cause it to short cycle on the burner (not the fan) side of the system. JM2Cents Bill
