Are there rallies for specific types of campers? We have a 33' Travel Trailer.

California Rallies

Hi, Does anyone know of any California rallies coming up in the near future? My kids don't want to go camping anymore so my husband and I decided to start going to some Camping rallies to meet some new camping buddies.

What truck to buy next for towing Travel Trailer

Hi Everyone, We are in the processing of looking for another truck to tow our 35' Travel trailer. Our truck (2007 Ford F250 Diesel)is on it's last leg at 145,000 miles and it hasn't been such a great truck maintenance wise. We are now looking at the Chevy, Dodge and GMC. We have seen more Rams towing compared to the others. What do you tow your Travel Trailers with and should we stick with the diesel? Should we also get the 4X4 and what engine size should we look for. We have had the EGR valve replaced 3 times on this truck and it's time to move on. We decided no more Ford Trucks. Thanks!

RE: Where to weigh your Travel trailer

We don't have very much where I live except we do have Trucker stops with scales not far away that I can probably get a close estimate of the weight from. The RV repair place we go to said that we were close to our truck towing weight so I am a little nervous to travel now. Even though we only have towels, pots and pans in it. We have a 2007 Ford F250 diesel truck.

Where to weigh your Travel trailer

Does anyone know where to bring a travel trailer to be weighed?. I was told the trucker CAT scales are not the place to get the accurate weight for my RV. Thanks!

What truck to buy next for towing Travel Trailer

Hi, We will be buying a new truck this year for towing my TT and I want something stronger than our 2007 Ford F250 Diesel. It seems the weight we were given for the TT by the dealership is wrong and it seemed our trailer was always a little too heavy by the tongue for the F250. My husband just says as long as it pulls don't worry about it but if we are getting a new truck I want it to be right this time. I'm not sure if we will get diesel or gas next so I want to also know what most people drive towing TT's. I'm knocking out Ford trucks as I don't think they keep up with the rest. Thanks!

RE: What are advantages and disadvantages of travel trailers

We have a Springdale TT and still love it after 11 years. We originally started in Tents then a Tent trailer which I loved and after the kids got older we went to a TT which is 2 bedrooms. After 11 years I still love my TT. We also wondered if we should get a TT or 5th wheel and we picked the TT as it is easy to hitch and unhitch so we can use our truck. Eventually when my husband retires we also are going to travel the US with it. We even take it to Las Vegas with us as it is so much cheaper than a hotel room and I love sleeping in my own bed. My neighbor had a 5th wheel and when he didn't hitch it up right, it fell and actually bent the bed of his truck in half. Also having a TT you will not lose your truck bed space for bikes and other items. I hope this helps. Good luck!:)
