RE: Shop Labor Rate. Survey.

Thank you for your replies. Ofcourse this is very informal. When replying remember this 190 per hour is charged by a facility that scores better than 8 out of 10. So, perhaps if they were more efficient the total bill might be less. ;) That is a "RIDICULOUS" cost per hour. In Ft. Worth (very near you, they charge $119.00 which is also entirely to much. Remember, RV's are not a "Rolls Royce" level of quality which requires certified technicians. Don't know where these people are finding these "quality" technicians. Guess I will have to look harder. In the Ft. Worth area I have not found any. 2-3 week wait to get in and then no quality work. $100 - $120 is a ought right!

RE: 5th Wheel or a Class A

With the larger fivers for FULLTIMING , comes the larger tow vehicle. Usually the one ton Dooley. As a daily driver we had some issues,. Getting into parking spots while sight seeing. Always got you exercise as we usuallym had to,park in the back 40! Again it is all personal preference. We have have had both. Currantly have a MH..

RE: Pouring of rv pad

If you have never poured concrete before, it maybe a surprise. Concrete has a time limit, depending on the temp for finishing! Just saying, do some research.

RE: parking with front wheels off the ground

I drive up on blocks. Under no uncertain terms raise any of the wheels off the ground. I feel fully extending will cause problems!!!!!!

RE: Kitchen sink -- very slow drain

I use baking soda and white vinegar. About a half cup baking soda poured in and on top of the drain. Pour about 2 cups of vinegar down the drain slowly washing the vineager down. Let set for a few minutes and flush with water . Repeat if necessary. Done this for years in the S.& B and in the RV.
Pop-Pop C 08/09/14 01:40pm Tech Issues

I agree don't buy a FRED because it is a diesel.we had a NEWMAR Grandstar. Engine and Transmission was great, 330 cummins., but they are usually on a gas frame. No airbags or brakes. If I were to do it all over again I would put air bags on first thing. I like the concept, but the engineering did not go far enough.

RE: Shopping the best truck to tow a 5th wheel

I loved my CHEV. DOLLEY 3500 2011. But as a Dailey driver it got challenging. But on the road nothing better. 8-10 MPH. PULLING A 37' HH. Champayne. If you are not FULLTIMING I would think about a gas.

RE: Heartland Silverado 38QBS

If you are thinking about FULLTIMING I would look at the Excel, Auto leveling, dual pane windows,, two 15,000 AC/ Heat pumps are a must. IMO!!!

RE: Routine fresh water tank maintenance

We have been FULLTIMING for over three years. Over a year in this one. Winnie Journey . I dump the tank and refill about once a month. Course I don't drink the water from the holding tank.have 4 filters before it reaches the faucet. Brita filter pitcher for drinking in the fridge. Course we are not away for fresh water for over 6-10 hrs.

RE: Q's about fifths that are pre-wired for a second AC.

IMHO!!!! I would not leave the dealer without the second one. Easier to do it now. Probably just as cheap.
