RE: problem finding GEO method ingredients??

I get the liquid at Wally World, prefer it to the powder as it mixes easier. Agree... liquid is much easier to use...

RE: 5TH Hitch Latch Opening By Itself

You folks with lighter duty Reese hitches (non signature series) could do yourselves a small test with a good sized pry bar to verify if the wear within your hitches linkage is allowing enough strain on the handle to force an opening if the locking latch isn't engaged. I demonstrated this once to my neighbour by putting the bar into the slight gap between the outer points of the jaws and prying back and forth and within three swings of that bar she opened up! Prying on the outer points of the jaws is different than the pin pulling straight back through the jaws to come loose.. the jaws are designed so that the more pressure the pin pulls back, the closer they come together.. visualize japaneese handcuffs...

RE: Jake Plate Height

Thanks for all the info guys. I think I can get by with 3-4 inches. I'm not familiar with wet bolts or bushings. Maybe I'll leave it to the dealer to do the work. Anyone know how much it would cost? Look on the Travel Trailer Forum... there's a sticky on installing a shock abbsorbing equalizer along with a wet bolt kit... has pictures with good info...

RE: tailgate hits front storage compartment (and another issue)

Change the standard tail gate for one made for fivers. The 'notch' in the center allows hook-up without lowering the 'gate. John I've thought about that, but can you still hitch at an angle with it up? The "V" gates I've seen looks like it's fine for going straight back, but at an angle I would think the pin might still hit the edges of the V tailgate. The center of the notch in the tail gate lines up with the center of the jaws on the hitch.. no mater what angle you're coming from... If you're off alignement enough to hit the tailgate with the pin... forget getting the pin into the jaws of the hitch..

RE: changing equalizer for lift?

That's a good question about the magnets.. as far as lifting, it depends on which type of equalizer you now have... On the travel trailer forum there's a sticky about changing the equalizer... has very good info with pictures... check it out..

RE: Gensets in Fivers?

Have the 5500 lp also... use it mainly to charge the batteries and run the sweeper.. nice to cool off the trailer before bed time.. it does burn a lot of fuel.. but it's only money. :)

RE: Replacing the Underbelly

Found a web site that has RV salvage, over runs, etc .. mention aluminum siding that can be special ordered.. have diff. colors and lengths... is this the same stuff that's on the underbelly of my Yellowstone?

RE: Replacing the Underbelly

I've had to cut into the aluminum underbelly on our Yellowstone two times.. patched with a small piece of aluminum the 1st time.. this last time is a major cut... electrical wiring is tangled up on the shaft that goes btw the slideout gears. ( looks like spaghetti wound up on a fork) :( :( these panels are about 4'x8' and have a slip joint across the long edge.. any ideas on where to find replacement panels? TKS

RE: Height Clearence Problems on the Road

Yep... Our's is 12' 7"... 3 tunnels on the Blue Ridge Prkway we won't fit thru.. have had one fuel station that was too low.. alway watching for low limbs on streets and campgrounds... Don't take the mfg height as gospel... measure it yourself...

RE: Scissor Stabilizer Leveling Jack -- cotter key

I have Scissor Stabilizer Leveling Jack on my travel trailer. Keep in mind that these Scissor Stabilizer Jacks are just that. Stabilizers. Not to be used for leveling at all. Right on... keep the threads lubed.. go easy on how much you try to lift.. shearing that pin is better than stripping the threads.. :)

RE: A/C Thermostat

I'm curious.. are digital thermostats any better at temp swings, or do they just show numbers and make us think they are? Replace my Coleman thermostat with a cheap digital Hunter thermostat from Wal-Mart... one of the best changes I've done to our 5th wheel... stopped the wild temp swings and is much more comfortable.

RE: very poor brakes - could this be grease on the shoes?

Yes, grease is a lube and will reduce the friction between the shoes and the drums. I do not what the seizing story is all about. Agree... buy several cans of brake cleaner, roll of paper towels... sometimes new shoes are the only answer..

RE: Water Pressure regulator

snip Would like a clarification, though... If I am running 30# out the CG tap, and I put a regulator on, does that lower the press even further? Some here have indicated that it does. I'm not too sure... I wouldn't think it would affect the pressure, but if it is a cheapie, it will cut down on flow. bumpy Anything you put in the line.. elbow, filter, tight loop, etc will cut down on the flow.. thus the reason for a good pressure regulator that has a higher flow rate..

RE: Duotherm 15k fan froze up?

Mine's under the plastic roof shroud and there are several bearings to lube. The same motor runs 2 fans/ one inside and one outside. Sounds like you never had it off before so do yourself a favor and clean the condenser fins and drip pan while you've got them exposed. Agree... if the motor shaft turns freely, the starting condenser is probably done for..

RE: Water Pressure regulator

I have encountered pressure up to 90 PSI ... IMO you need one ... You need to look at the flow rate (GPM) because cheap ones have limited flow rates. I recommend Watts 263A 4-4.5 GPM http://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com/PressureRegulators.htm Right on... GPM is the key... get a watts adjustable pressure regulator.. it's flow rate is much higher than the fixed rate ones... Home Depo.. Lowes
