RE: Securing Pocket Door for Transit-new hardware/ideas needed

Maybe some thing like this. http://rvtravel.com/blog/rvnow/uploaded_images/pocket-door-latch-b-742902.jpg width=300 You may have to notch the trim. This looks like a great idea, but the door is actually recessed in to the wall so that would not work as there is no door to grab on to.

Securing Pocket Door for Transit-new hardware/ideas needed

Need your help with this one-on our last trip, the bedroom pocket door bottom latch (built into the door) failed on our heavy door. At the end of a 100 mile trip, the lower latch mechanism failed and we found the door partially open, off track and jammed. Was able to get it onto the track again and fortunately since it has a large glass insert, that was not broken. I am looking for a way to secure the door better. The lower latch fits into a cutout hole and is supposed to hold the door in place for travel but it failed. Replacement of that latch is not likely as I do not trust it and the door would need to be removed. At the top of the door, it has a vinyl strap secured with two snaps but that was no match for the heavy bedroom door. To complicate matters, lining the opening is a molding on each side of the cutout where the door recesses into the wall so whatever I replace it with must span the height of the molding which is about 1/4". Let me hear your ideas and if you have a link to a product, please add that to your post.

RE: Ticking Ford 6.7 after oil change

Yep, that's it! I'll probably be picking the truck up Monday with this diagnosis so we'll see how long the noise continues. Enterprise gave me a 2013 Chevy Silverado to drive with 10 miles on it to drive-that doesn't tick but the 4.8 has NO POWER! and rear drum brakes?

RE: Ticking Ford 6.7 after oil change

Wondering, Why do you change your oil after only 5 to 7 K. Is that what Ford recommends? To me, that sounds like a very short time in milage between oil changes. Yep-I follow the built in oil reminder system based on engine hours/load etc. Fairly consistent mileage through the 29k of oil change intervals.

RE: Ticking Ford 6.7 after oil change

yeah, done some reading on it and seems very common. Hope it's nothing as it states but really sounds out of place on such a quiet engine.....

Ticking Ford 6.7 after oil change

Took my 2012 6.7 450 to the dealer for an oil change. Brought it home and noticed a tick from the engine intermittent when idling and driving slowly heard with the windows down. Took it back to the dealer and they acknowledged the noise and found a service bulletin, and showed it to me, describing the condition that informed the dealer of this condition and not to attempt a repair. It sounds as if they are not aware of what causes it but it should go away eventually. Truck has 29k on it and have had my oil changed every 5-7k and never really noticed this noise before. Kind of disturbing. This is my 2nd Ford 6.7 and my 2011 never made that sound. Anyone have any experience with this? Dealer told me that usually happens after first oil change and becomes less frequent as mileage increases. I do not usually drive with windows down so if it happened after the previous oil changes, I am unaware. Sounds like a typewriter or a spark plug wire arcing and is intermittent. Bulletin states it happens on a warm engine up to 1700 rpms but after 1700 rpms, it is so loud cannot hear it anyway. What's up?

RE: Summer Trip Along Gulf Coast

Florida Caverns state park may be worth a day trip. Not far from where you will be. That looks like a fun place-got some good reviews. How far is it from Emerald Beach Rv park? Maybe a day trip? Appreciate the ideas of things to do in the area...

RE: Summer Trip Along Gulf Coast

Pontchartrain Landing in New Orleans. Pricey but gates and has shuttle into French Quarter. Some waterfront sites. This place looks nice...thinking we are going to do plan some time to be here.....still working on getting all this together but places are already booked for July 4th week....wow.

RE: Summer Trip Along Gulf Coast

NORM is the resident expert of the Gulf Coast....take his advice. Yes, I just PM'd him for some more information and some ideas. We can actually travel further south/east than Destin. Hoping to find the perfect CG with open ocean (more surf) and the ideal setting. Also checked out the CG in New Orleans...sounds like a good possibility and Gulf shores is promising, too!

Summer Trip Along Gulf Coast

Planning our summer family vacation from DFW Texas to Emerald Beach area of Florida and back. Tentatively, along the way, was thinking of a one day in New Orleans area (need CG suggestions) and then off to the Emerald Beach area. Coming back, was thinking of a day's stop in Alabama coastal area before heading back. Anyone stay in Emerald Beach RV park recently? CG suggestions for Alabama and New Orleans area? Prefer coastal if possible. Big Rig friendly appreciated.....

RE: Propane freeze up

The idea of a dead battery crossed my mind when we bought our current trailer. Added another 12v battery just for the generator that is independent of the trailer electrical. I keep it charged with a plug in trickle charger so even if the trailers batteries run down, I have the 12v starter battery in place for the generator and I'm ready to go. Just a thought.

RE: Batteries

When we bought our Day Dreamer, the dealer had 2 12v batteries wired up. During the PDI, I called them on it and they installed 4 6v batteries. I sure was glad I checked it before taking delivery. Dealer tried to cheap out on my batteries, too.

RE: 43foot and RV parks?

We have a 43' DRV and just completed a cross-country trip with it this summer. Some campgrounds were tight (even when we told them what size it was). Sharp turns within a campground were the biggest challenge with trees close to the edge of the road. The most common problem was finding 50 amp svc in the northeast as we have 3 ac's. On the road, we have an auxilliary fuel tank so fuel stops are every 1000 miles so that is easy with some planning. Very happy with the DRV-and glad to take it out whenever we can even though we FT.

RE: Splendide shaking the house(RV)

We were at the beach last year for a week and did 2 loads/day. By the time we left the trailer jack pads had shaken themselves enough in the soft sand to bury themselves as well as the bottom of the tires. LOL. Just a normal part of life we figure. Wow what beach sound nice.. pm sent

RE: Low point drain location??

i owned a 2008 daydreamer-line extended below underbelly and that was all in the area of the wet bay. 1/4 turn and out went the water.

RE: DRV Mobile Suites Doubletree for full timing???

We are on our 11 month in a DRV 43' Mobile Suites. We FT but we have towed it around a bit in this beautiful country including a trip to Rhode Island this summer. We traded our Cedar Creek DayDreamer in and there is no comparison to the quality of the trailer. Kind of wish we had a colder winter last year so we could see how it does in the colder weather. Summer was fine-made it through with on a/c tied behind its back.LOL. The thick walls make a huge difference. Fit/finish is great-level-up system is awesome. It is heavy-upgraded from 350 drw to 450. Good luck to you-has my thumbs up!

RE: New Water Heater

Adjusting the temperature involves adjusting the flow at the faucet which regulates the burner. It is akin to having your neighbor adjust his faucet for your shower temperature. By the time you call for a temp change, the burner has to respond and then send the water at the "adjusted" temp to your shower. Would not recommend a tankless water heater in a RV right now....besides they waste a lot of water before you get the temp you want. Did you ask about how it responds in freezing weather? Does the burner fire below a certain temp to keep the thin tubes from freezing in cold weather? You can burn a lot of LP if the water heater has to keep itself warm. Let me know what you know.....
