RE: What is your favorite feature?

Without a doubt, the automatic BigFoot hydraulic levelers which I ordered when we purchased our fiver from NuWa. Mike

RE: When to use water pressure regulator on fiver?

Buckeye Chuck: Keep in mind that unless you have some kind of super hose, the regulator should be installed at the spigot. It's my understanding that the average RV hose can burst under high pressure. Mike

RE: When to use water pressure regulator on fiver?

I agree with E=mc2 on both the water regulator and the surge protector. Mike

RE: dual pane windows & weight

Our current fiver is our second with dual-pane windows; we think they are beneficial for the reasons previously stated. Mike & Donna

RE: Can't make any Adjustments on my trailer brakes

I had a similar problem a month ago when I had a 7-pin trailer connector installed in my new truck; when I hooked up the trailer and plugged it in, the trailer wheels were locked up. I took the truck back to the installer; it turned out that they had originally mis-wired the connector. They corrected the problem and I was able to move the trailer. I understand that mistakes can happen. However, if they had taken the time to test the circuits it would have saved both the installer and me a lot of time and frustration. Mike

RE: We Took Your Advice Ordered a Dually

To each his (or her) own. We did not want to drive a dually when unhooked from the fiver, so we purchased a smaller fifth wheel that we could tow safely behind a 3500 SRW (see sig.) Surely, a dually is somewhat more stable, but we just have never thought bigger is always better. Donna & Mike

RE: blown tire collision or comprehensive

Cummins12V98: Maybe Geico got my attention, but their advertisements are so annoying and STUPID that I would NEVER consider purchasing their insurance coverage! Mike

RE: My new TV finally arrived

It is so much less tiring to tow when there is enough power to keep the transmission from downshifting at every slight hill and headwind - you will really appreciate it! Mike

RE: blown tire collision or comprehensive

If Geico wouldn't spend so much money putting that very annoying lizard on TV every fifteen minutes, maybe they would have enough to pay claims properly! Their commercials are STUPID! Mike

RE: paying before trailer is here

Yes, it's obvious that the OP probably made a mistake. However, I agree with Steve_Martin who said "The problem with our society today is anger." Mike

RE: Shock Absorbing Pin Boxes for 5th Wheels

My Discover America (see sig) has a Demco extended pin box. I just installed a Trailer Saver BD-3 air hitch in my new truck (see sig.) I haven't towed the trailer with the new truck yet, but am looking forward to the performance that this combination should give me. The Demco by itself towing with my prior truck surely was very good, so the both of them together should be even better. Mike

RE: Almost Famous

Rob: Like you stated, just take it slow and easy, especially with backing up, and you'll be O.K. We just had our BD3 installed on our new truck, but haven't towed with it yet. Wish you happy travels. Mike

RE: why no "high end" 28 - 30 ft. fivers ???

Donna (my wife) and I feel the same way. We travel in ours, so wanted the shortest high-quality fiver we could get with "bells & whistles" such as auto leveling, upgraded tank sensors, etc. Our Discover America at 31' 8" was the shortest one in that line. We placed our order with the factory in August, 2012 and picked up the trailer in December. Their longer fivers didn't cost much more, but 32 feet was our arbitrary limit. We'd have been just as happy with a foot or two less and two slides rather than three, but what we got was the closest to what we wanted that we could find other than spending a LOT more money on a New Horizons. Oh, and we didn't want to have to pull with a dually either. Mike

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Do any of you have the "TIRE MINDER" brand TPMS? If so, do you like the way it operates? Would like to know the good and the bad. Another question regarding any TPMS: When the senders are screwed on to the tire valves, do they ever leak? Thanks. Mike

RE: 5th wheel protection in Alaska

I installed a set of long DuraFlaps on my previous truck and they worked well. Last week, I installed similar DuraFlaps on the new truck - hope they work as well. Check out DuraFlap on the web. Mike

RE: A good small high quality 5th wheel for full timing

We purchased a 31' 8" 2013 NuWa Discover America in December which we had ordered. We will tow it with the SRW truck indicated in our signature. Mike

RE: Air Compressors - AGAIN!

wtmtnhiker: Thank you for your reply. I guess I could try one of these; however, there is a lot of difference between 85 PSI and 110 PSI. I like the idea of a 110-volt compressor; the fiver is almost always next to shore power, but I often cannot get the truck close enough beside it in an RV site to use truck's battery power Mike

Air Compressors - AGAIN!

Folks: Here is my tale of woe. My new fiver has Goodyear G-rated tires: 110 P.S.I. I know that some of you have these, or even have 17.5-inch tires that hold more pressure. I have checked every website and phoned every vendor I can find; they all tell me there is NOT an air compressor made (that I can lift and will fit into my fiver storage compartment) that has the capability to top off these tires to 110 P.S.I. I'm fairly particular about tire pressure - usually check them at least every other morning when traveling. I hate the idea of having to try to find a fuel station air pump while towing a 32-foot fiver. Anyway, by then the tires have built up too much heat for an accurate reading. What do you folks do to top off these high-pressure tires? Have any of you found a compressor/inflator that will do the job? I would really appreciate any advice you can give me. Mike
