RE: Tank drain hose ideas for a roadtrek

Check with a Roadtrek dealer. It may still be covered under warranty since they had so many failures. Our 2006 RS's was last year. We too cut off the tips of the valve handle.

RE: Class B experience

Jim, Our experiences have been very similar. We just got back from a 6 week cross country trip. We traveled about 10,400 miles from San Jose to Quebec, down through New England, over to San Antonio, up to El Paso where we crossed the border into Mexico, over to Palm Springs and then home. We have spent over 200 nights in our RT/RS since we got it almost 3 years ago. We have about 42,000 miles on it and average about 21 miles to the gallon of diesel. We use it more as a touring vehicle than a camping vehicle. Other than a few minor matters covered under warranty, we too have had a very good record of not having problems. After coming full circle, using a small tent, large tent, truck camper, small 5th wheel and then camping in a tent for many years again, this has been the best experience we have ever had with a RV/camping vehicle. Even my wife who was very reluctant to jump into this endeavor admits it is a lot easier staying in our rig at a campground, Walmart, or relatives house with our dog than staying in a hotel/motel. Yes, showers our problematic, but we work around it without using our onboard shower (campgrounds, sponge baths, etc.). The 'B' life is truly our way to go. It works for us.

RE: tolls

We just got back from a cross country trip through northern Canada and New England down through DC. We paid what I thought were reasonable tolls for our RT/RS until the portion of I95 between Philadelphia and the turn off for DC. It cost $11 when we got to the toll booth because of our weight and then when we made a wrong turn and had to take a bridge to get back on track we had to pay another $18. What a costly 29 minutes. Boy was I in toll shock!!
PS: The rest of the 10,400 mile trip went without a hitch and was the best 6 weeks of my life...

2006 Roadtrek over sink galley light

Anyone know how to remove the lens cover over the sink galley light on a 2006 RS. I have figured out the center isle cover (it slides off) but can't seem to remove the sink/galley cover and also the one that is over the 2nd row seating on the driver side. Thanks Ron

RE: traveling New England in a B

We will be making a cross country trip in late August to early October to New England in our B. Being a Sprinter and 22 feet long are there going to be particular travel problems for us? We will be traveling with our Australian Shepherd and do not like to leave her behind and alone in the van. Are there a lot of outside dog friendly types of things to see and do? In September, with kids back in school how difficult will it be in getting a camp site in campgrounds? Need reservations? Boondocking opportunities? We are trying to keep it a fairly loose itinerary. Thanks, Ron

RE: Great B accessories but never use

We also carry a propane camp stove, propane catalytic heater and propane lamp to go with our propane BBQ that we never use because we tour more than camp.

Oh yes, we have a BBQ that has yet to be used because we do a lot of pre-trip cooking and microwave warm-ups. Some day....

Great B accessories but never use

Responding to an earlier post regarding covers for a B made me wonder what accessories we have purchased for our B's but wind up never using them? For me it is a Sunbrella cover and a Fiamma screen room which we don't use because of our style of travel (lots of short stays).
We also very rarely use a 12 volt lap blanket, 120 volt electric blanket, and some cup holders.

RE: Inverter/Electrical Issue......2006 Roadtrek 190P

I had a similar issue with our 750 watt inverter about a year after we bought our 2006/2007 RS. It was determined to be a faulty inverter. Luckily for us our dealer switched it out with a new one replaced under warranty.

RE: Roadtrek Custom Cover

We bought a cover from the dealer. Still sitting in the box. Same for us and our RS. We spent over $700 for a real nice custom Sunbrella type one but we use our vehicle so much it dosen't make sense to take the time to cover it. We keep it covered by one of those portable garage canopy covers. Ron

RE: California/Oregon Dealer Recommendation?

McMahon's in Scott's Valley between San Jose and Santa Cruz treated us well and has many different B's including being an authorized Roadtrek dealer. Jim Eberhardt was our sales person and was very knowledgeable and helpful.

RE: RT RS Adventurous front beds - anyone have or try?

We got just about every option with ours except for the folding mattresses. We don't use the middle two seats. We have the armoire and wardrobe and never take them out. Ron

RE: Tables and beds

Does anyone else have trouble in the Roadtrek (we have the 210 Popular) with the table falling off the ledge when set up as the bed? Apparently the table is the support for the center of the bed at the end. When you try and climb on top, it tends to fall in between because they apparently didn't make the ledges wide enough. We have the RS and never had a problem with the table falling when using it for support for the bed.

RE: How do you determine your miles per gallon?

I think on my next fill up I am going to hit 25 mpg on that one stint and probably my best ever. The mileage was phenomenal. I arrived at my destination today with 450 miles driven and the needle is still on the half way mark. On my 2006 Sprinter I have noticed the fuel gage is not very accurate. Driving 55 mph I can get 225 miles on the first quarter tank, 400 at the halfway point, 525 by the last quarter mark, and hit the empty mark around 635. If I fill up at the half way point on the fuel gage I take in approximately 15 gallons. I think the tank holds 26 gallons. I can get 26+ mph quite easily keeping the speed around 55 mph. It just takes a lot longer to get from point A to point B.

RE: Awnings on a B. Do you use them.

We have used ours sparingly because of my fear of wind and tree damage and also our frequent boondocking. But my DW loves to use it if only for ambiance. If we had a free one offered we would take it in a heart beat. If we were to buy new again we would get one again because I know where my bread is buttered ;)
