RE: Red Max Pro NO-NO

AH HAA. Now the horror stores are starting to come out about using this stuff.
One person uses a cloth that bleeds color and another has some flaking and suddenly "horror stories" are coming out? Talk about jumping to conclusions...

RE: PenFed Fuel Cash Back Credit Card

Anyone have any actual experience using the PenFed card for a truck lane where every transaction in completed inside at the fuel desk? And the purchase is for fuel only?
Tried it, paying at the fuel desk does NOT work.
You will not get the 5% discount if you pay for your fuel anywhere other than at the pump .

RE: PenFed Fuel Cash Back Credit Card

we've used ours for 3 years and have yet to NOT get the 5% on fuel purchases. However, I ALWAYS pay at the pump.
+1
If you do not pay at the pump with the PenFed Platinum Cash Rewards Visa you will NOT get the 5% cash rebate. No exceptions, the retailer (clerk) cannot change the code the system uses to show point of purchase, so if you pay anywhere other than at the pump you'll get only one half of one percent rather than five percent.

RE: Jack antenna?

As promised, I'm following up on my Jack antenna install and how it performs vs. the old batwing (without wingman) it replaced. I'm currently in the campground at Hot Springs National Park, located in 'Gulpha Gulch' where I've always had trouble getting a reliable OTA signal from some local stations.
The Jack does provide a better signal - not perfect (there is an occasional pixellation event) but it is definitely an improvement vs. the batwing it replaced. Since my batwing did not have a wingman add-on (no room for it due to the location of an AC unit) there is no way to judge how my Jack compares to that configuration.
In addition to the slightly better performance, the lighter weight Jack is much easier to crank up and down and to rotate.
I'm a happy camper...

RE: Wants a good spot to camp in destin?

Topsail (formerly a commercial park) has full hook-ups but is almost a mile from the beach - a long walk. There is a tram to take you too and from the park and beach.
Henderson Beach has water and electric only but is closer to the beach.
Both are great parks.

RE: Hanging the hitch on the pin box?

I have no issue with those that choose to let their hitch hang from the jaws.
Nor do I.
Good to know we agree on this point. :)

You suspected wrong.
As I stated liability had nothing to do with the answers each one gave me. I've posted their answers before and always created a big back and forth with brand cheerleaders.
Best bet is call them in person and then make a informed decision.
I don't see anything about liability in my 'suspicions' or in my response. What I said is my opinion of why you got a "don't do it" when you called. They simply default to the easiest, path-of-least resistance response.
Once again, if storing the hitch on the kingpin was an issue, why don't the instruction manuals specify "Do not store this hitch by hanging from the kingpin"?
Because it isn't a problem.

RE: Hanging the hitch on the pin box?

I would think your hitch manufacturer would have the best answer.
I agree.
I've spent considerable time searching the web and have not found anything definitive about storing the hitch by leaving it hanging from the kingpin. Lots of discussions on RV forums like this thread, but nothing on any the hitch or trailer manufacturers websites - nothing saying it is OK or warning against it. I even checked out a couple of hitch user manuals to see if I could find anything on the subject - nothing.

RE: is used tires are an option

Used tires are fine as long as you don't plan to go anywhere on them other than back to the RV park. If you plan to travel more than that, buy the newest tires you can find - still warm from the factory is best. :)

RE: Hanging the hitch on the pin box?

I don't think my pin box is designed to hang the weight of my superglide on it. It is designed to pull the trailer not take a vertical load (hanging on it) all the time. I relize it gets stressed towing but not that kind of stress. But I could be wrong, ask the manufacturer if ok, I think they would say do not do it
Never hurts to ask, but I'll bet there would be a warning label on the hitch if hanging/storing it on the kingpin was a problem.

RE: Hanging the hitch on the pin box?

Not a thing wrong with leaving the hitch hanging from the pin as long as you lock it as Old-Biscuit pointed out. That's how I store it when not in use.

RE: Overweight and insurance

I feel that even the sue happy folks (some in this thread) can do simple math and figure out that Im not worth it and to go on to the next guy
I suspect those looking for deep pockets might see the rig in your sig photo and think otherwise.
The above statement isn't in any way intended to be a knock on you, just an unpleasant fact of life. We had a 40' Dutch Star for four years and "downsized" to a less-than-top-of-the-line 5th wheel. There were a number of reasons for the switch, not the least of which was the reoccurring assumption by folks who thought if we drove one of those big diesel pushers we must be loaded...

Wonder if the insurance company or a personal injury lawyer will scoop up all the debris and take it to the scales to see if this rig was overweight? :)

RE: Zep replacement for Red Max Pro

As I said the RMP is a great solution to re-vitalize an older RV but I would not use it on a newer unit that could still be brought back by waxing and perhaps compounding if necessary.
Why? I've never seen anyone who has properly applied Zep/RMP report any problem whatsoever, regardless of RV age.
Waxing is so 20th century... :)
