RE: Replacing coaxial cable

1st Are you sure you have both ends of the SAME cable ? 2nd Does it show an "open" when you check continuity between center and sheild w/ the center and sheild twisted together at the other end ? 3rd If a screw was run thru it somewhere, it would show a short circuit between center and sheild w/ both ends open (not twisted) 4th I'm w/ others, it is highly unlikely that the cable got cut,.... so make sure you are working w/ both ends of the same cable, as they could have been mismarked !:E

RE: Sanitizing fresh water tank

I've posted this a hundred times (seems like) We have NEVER had bad water, nor have we ever put any chemicals in our FWT. If you keep your FWT as full as possible at all times, you will never have bad water,...unless you take on bad water,...period ! Most people drain their FWT as it goes into storage, which is the worst thing you can do, and will guarantee you bad water in a week or 3. The tank must be chuck FULL while in storage ! And I ain't no water chemist, so I don't know why, but what I do know is that it works.

RE: What is best external charger for Deep Charging Batteries?

Deep cycle batteries that never see over 13.5-8 volts from a single fixed rate charger will not last as long as the 2-3 stage chargers that finish charging at well over 14 volts, some close to 15v, then drop to a float charge at 13.4. The hi voltage chargers keep sulfation in check, as every time they are charging over 14 volts, they are desulfating the battery at the same time. Therefore all you need is a 2 -3 stage charger,.....even a 1.5 amp maintainer charger will do it, such as the 1.5 amp Shumacher that WM sells, and Sears diehard, same thing. Don't remove the batteries,....just charge them as a single 12 battery, because thats what it is.

RE: setting up home hook up

You could do like I did, put a T in the line, and run a 3-4" line over to the most conviently place for dumping. But if you have the newer septic tank system, where the leech water goes into the city line, be sneaky about it, because if like mine, the city completely maintains my septic system, so they don't like having anything else hooked to a system that they must maintain. I also have a cleanout, but its right next to the house.

RE: L.P. Horizontal Tank not filling completely.

I can assure you its not air in the tank, or any part of purging. Its a bent float or a malfunction of the same. If you could remove it yourself, you probably would not have to replace it,......probably just adjust it.

RE: Freeze protection RV heater

Yes, thanks for the test tips. I like the first one because of its lower shutoff @ 45 degrees. I'd really like a shutoff at 35 or 40 degrees, and turn on @ 32, but these will work.

RE: setting up home hook up

For just storage purposes, I'd just run an underground 12ga 20 amp service. 20 amp will work on every RV ever made. We lived 5 months in our MH on a 12 ga x 100 ft ext cord, from a neighbors 20 amp wall plug. A/C worked fine. Only pop the CB 1 time, probably trying to use the Nuker w/ the A/C on. Now, the RV port for my RV has only a 20 amp service, and guests stay in it every now and then,......run the A/C sometimes too. 50 ft away is my full hookup RV pad, for RVing guests. I installed a 10 ga 30 amp service there. Having only a 30 amp service, makes those 50 amp friends not over stay their welcome !:B

RE: Freeze protection RV heater

I believe that has to be it. Thanks much. Its hard to believe this unit has such a high failure rate. Was this it? I have several of these and they work like a charm. ThermoCube Relayman

Freeze protection RV heater

It seems like a year or 3 ago, someone here was talking of a little heater that plugs into a wall socket that keeps the temperature just above freezing. And seems like it was sold at Ace Hardware Dealers. I checked w/ Ace, and they know of no such thing. Anyone w/ any info on this type of heater ? Or possibly it was a thermostatic box that you could plug a small heater into ?

RE: battery voltage is 13.0 volts after using Batteryminder

Many times, I have seen it take 3-4 days for the surface charge to get down to a true standing voltage. It just means that the batteries involved are in very good condition.

RE: Local Channels ?

I do it all the time, and most times it just works. Try the reset on the receiver. Or call DTV, they'll fix it in a minute. I took my DTV receiver with me for the first time while camping,,,after set up I got all my channels except the local ones, but now that I,m back home how do I get it back to where it was before I took it out?I w ent through the set up process but still do not get my local channels, even after entering my correct zip code? Thanks,,Tom

RE: Atwood hot water heater clean out

I have never drained a WH in my life, and my tanks last just as long as anyone elses,....22 yrs on the previous,(sold it) so far 11 yrs on current. I never winterize, just a little heater that keep RV above 32 degs, FWT full, Holding tanks empty.

RE: potable water

Its very simple,....... If your tank is kept completely full at all times, the water will not go bad for months. If it is empty, it will,.....mainly because when its empty, its not completely empty.

RE: What to place under wheels during storage?

Show us any scientific evidence where concrete or just plain dirt ever hurt a tire. I have seen tires set on both for 20-30 years, and the only part of the tire that was not rotted was on the very bottom. :E Mine sits on sand and gravel for 6 yrs.

RE: Why Would I Want a Bread Machine?

Over time we have bought 2, neither of which made over a 1/2 dozen loaves. The first one quit, the 2nd one still sits in the closet, and any day now, it will be decided to once again make some bread, so after finding out this one don't work after setting so many years, a 3rd one will be bought, and another 1/2 dozen (w/ any luck) loaves will be made,.....then it will be its turn to sit in the closet for ?? years ! And the stores that sell these cheap pcs of junk, keep smiling all the way to the bank:E :B

RE: 3.42 Gears????

You said most your driving will be solo,....so that answers the question IMO ! Untill low gear is not low enough, you will be ok w/ 343. The only thing lower gears will do is space the gears closer together. So, if you do not need a lower low gear, the 343 will do ok. I once changed gears from 330 to 410 for towing 6500 lbs, and tho it was better for towing, it ruined that vehicle (360 cu in Dodge Van) for hiway solo driving. I would not do it again.
