RE: Full Body Paint, Worth It ??

We've had 1 sticker adorned MH and 2 FBP and there is no comparison. FBP wins hands down!

RE: Opinions on 2007 Holiday Rambler Navigator

Holiday Rambler was owned by Monaco which was a manufacturer of very fine MH's. We owned a Monaco Dynasty for several years and really enjoyed it, The Navigator is the HR top of the line unit and is a well equipped unit that will give you years of great service and fun traveling/camping! Good choice!!!!!

RE: Bought the wrong motorhome!!!

First of all, not all diesel pushers are created equal. Some of the shorter models manufactured in the 90's or early 2000's came with the Cummins 5.9 L engines. These engines came in all sorts of HP levels ranging from 190hp tp 275hp. The issues with these engines is not reliability, but rather lack of adequate TORQUE! Don't be fooled by hp numbers as torque MOVES the coach. The 8.1 L (+) engines provide much higher torque levels and most of the time, better fuel milage, as they are better matched for the weight to torque ratio. I have found the the 5.9 L engines are typically underpowered for the weight of a 34' (+) motorhome as they do not have the torque required.

RE: Another Toad question

Having owned 3 diesel pusher's I towed an open trailer with a street rod on it, an inclosed trailer w/rod, a dolly with a car on it as well as 3 different vehicles w/4 wheels down. The 300+ hp diesels pulled everything just fine but the 400hp pusher did the best in the mountains. I sold the dolly after ONE trip! Never again it was a major PITA as far as I'm concerned. My recommendation--- buy a vehicle that meets your needs that can be towed all wheels down. Put a good tow plate on it, buy a good tow bar that will handle the weight of your toad and hit the road with a smile on your face. Good luck!

RE: To close for comfort

If you don't have a surge protector for your RV, now is the time to take care of that. They are not cheap by any means, however, most of the time they protect again the situation you just experienced.

RE: Thinking about a diesel pusher

Current diesel engines require a Diesel Exhaust fluid ( DEF) to be injected into the exhaust system to allow the engine to meet the Federal emission standards. Therefore, large MH's come with a separate tank to hold the DEF as it's automatically fed into the exhaust system to 'clean" the diesel emissions as they are released into the atmosphere. I believe this system was mandatory in 2010 (?) and the only way around having one is to purchase a MH prior that that year. To most it's not a big deal, just one more thing to take care of when you own a diesel MH. It adds a few cents to each gal. of diesel used but a gal. goes a long way. Most MH's come with fairly large DEF tanks so adding DEF is done only occasionally.

RE: Buying an RV from Dealer vs Private Owner

As said in many of the previous posts, it all depends on the honesty and the integrity of the seller. You can, and will, find knowledgable/honest sellers both at Dealerships and private sellers. We sold out 2005 Allegro Bus privately to a great couple that communicated with me over a period of several months. When they finally bought our coach, he knew as much about our Bus as I did, I told him everything and had well documented records of maintenance since we bought it new. They got a great coach at a fair price and I know they luv it as much as we did.

RE: I Need to Vent!!!

IMHO you have every right to VENT. The "service" this Dealer is giving you is totally unacceptable. My first steps would be to call both the Dealership AND Winnebago. I'd want to talk to the owner, or at least the General manager of the Dealership and someone at Winnebago with some authority. Ask Winnebago where else you can take your mh to have the issues corrected. Too bad you do not live close to the Plant in Forest City, Ia, I know they would take good care of you there. Again, find another Winnebago approved dealer to fix your coach and spread the word on the internet and by word of mouth for folks to run away from the Dealership you bought your mh from. You have every right to be treated like a valued customer with honesty and integrity by the people that sold you the unit. Kinda makes you wonder why they went from so many Tech's to just a few doesn't it. Either the bottom has fallen out of their business because of the way they treat their Tech, and/or their customers, or BOTH!

RE: Did I buy a lemon? roadtrek ranger 2013

Welcome to the "club". Use your Dealer for your warranty work. They will stand behind all aspects of a brand new RV for at least a year. If the A/C is bad, they can install a new replacement unit. If you had bought a Class A, (we bought 3 new diesel pushers) I'd say you're into the initial phase of at least a year period of getting it sorted out. Our Class B (Winnebago ERA) has had very few issues which is more typical with these small motorhomes. Good luck!

RE: WATER DAMAGE????????

Good choice, there's way to many great mh's for sale out there to settle on one that may become a big pain in the butte!

RE: Newbie - 1st time towing Car on Tow Dolly - Tips?

Are you aware that you can wire your toad's lights to work in conjunction with the motorhome. By doing this, all you have to do is plug in an umbilical cord between the motorhome and the toad. Makes things much more straight forward and IMHO is more reliable than magnetic stick-on lights with long cords dangling down the top/side of the toad.

RE: Replacement Dual Pane Window for 2004 Tiffin Phaeton

Give Tiffin Parts & Service Dept a call. Order a replacement which will be the entire window (inside & outer panes) as it's a dual pane unit. You can probably pay a local auto glass installer a small free for install or try to do it yourself.

RE: Need your input...........what do you think?

Tiffin makes a "smaller" diesel pusher motorhome called the Breeze. This motorhome is a 32' ( there is a second size but I'm not sure if it's longer or shorter) coach and has been out for 2-3 years so you may have an option of buying new or used. From the reviews I read, owners are very pleased with it. Good luck!

RE: Roadtrek water pump

Before changing the pump, make sure that the city water connection valve is in the proper position. If not, the pump will run all the time and you'll have little or no pressure at the faucets. Bill I totally agree with Bill. Any open valve/facet will cause exactly the issue you're having!

RE: Tire valve access

The rear dual wheels on the Sprinter can have the air pressure checked and filled with an angled tire pressure gauge/filler head for your compressor. It still is not easy and I remove the wheel stainless cover to gain access to the valve stems. I choose this method due to all the concerns expressed by many about the valve extensions . http://www.amazon.com/Dually-Inflator-Reaches-Oversized-Protected/dp/B00AOAFGYQ

RE: New ERA is home now

Sewer hose? Interesting as our 2012 has the macerator pump, the only option when we bought ours. So, i guess your saying the 2013 has the standard dump valves? Is there still an option for the pump? Good luck with your new "B", we luv our ERA!

RE: SEAT BOLTS SHEARED OFF OF ERA

Looks like someone at the Winnebago assembly plant had their air wrench torque set too high and snapped it off. I'd be concerned about the other bolts on all 4 seats as the same worker probably tightened them all!

RE: TOWING A VEHICLE (TOAD) WITH A CLASS B

Thanks Kirsty, best of luck :) Good decision to FORGET about a dolly!!!!!!! Yes, warming the decals really helps, just don't overheat with the hairdryer and scorch the paint, warm it, it doesn't need to be HOT. Also, parking it in the hot sun for several hours then removing the decals on the side IN the sun works great too!

RE: TOWING A VEHICLE (TOAD) WITH A CLASS B

It appears that most folks that own these Vans believe that Mercedes has designed them to tow the recommended weight and it's recommended not to mess with the transmission cooling system as the tranny fluid can actually be cooled too much. Tranny fluid needs to reach the designed operating temps or it can be harmful to the tranny when not allowed to reach it's preferred/design operating temp. By the way, I tried towing my mini on a dolly--1 trip only and it was for sale, never again as it's way too big of a pain in the bottom! Here's a link to several pic's of my ERA with several of the decals removed! (you may need to "copy/paste") http://s251.photobucket.com/user/RSchleder/library/2012%20ERA?sort=6&page=1

RE: 2013 Winnebago ERA Model 70A Twin Bed

The dealer I purchased my ERA from is EXCELLENT and has 2 ERA's in stock, one of each floor plan. If you want a great deal and immediate possession , give these folks a call. Ask for Nicole, she'll take excellent care of you http://www.lichtsinn.com
