RE: Another Likely RV Brake Failure Crash

WOW! Just looked at the 19th street hill plus barriers at the intersection. Sure would make one pucker heading down the hill with poor brakes and seeing those barriers coming into view.

RE: Dementia in parents

Snowman, Hit me up with a private message and I can email you all kinds of resources. I work in mental health and used to facilitate a care givers support group. Would be happy to send you that info. Todd Might be nice to share here for all to see, if possible. :)

RE: Tony Stewart

Tragic, yes, but both bear responsibility for the outcome. ........until they start fining or suspending the offenders....... Seems to me that fine$ are often meaningless. Unless a suspension means elimination from the Championship Contention, it too could be meaningless.

Got out at 0210 today for the start of my 122 mile bicycle ride. The moon was so awesome I didn't need the bright setting on my light.

RE: What's the purpose of this black tank fitting?

........ I'm not so sure, the 'hose' is actually one half of a pair used as supply lines for a washing machine, double female. The shut off is a common inline male / female stubby fitting used on a garden hose. I think the fact it ends female is purel a result of the double female hose, had it been a conventional hose (one male, one female) it would have terminated in a male fitting. It would be useless as a back flush tool since there's no way to drain the water without removing the cap and pouring everything from the gate valve out on the ground. For back flush you'd need something like this; http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41BgMx5v1IL._SY300_.jpg I'm pretty sure the only possibility is grey water drain. Look at the picture and you will see 4 wings to grab on to the dump outlet. If one wants to back flush, one best make sure there are 4 wings not 2 so a more secure fit is provided. One broken wing out of 2 can cause a mess coming from a black tank. I will agree with those suggesting that it is a simple gray water trickle hose either for emptying on the ground or slowly into a tote tank.

RE: Rebates

Yeah, I understand all the ways we can use it -- it's the idea that I CANNOT deposit into my account and save/spend the cash. I don't want to use 'gift cards -- they make more record keeping, and again, you need to keep track exactly, AND there is no 'insured cost' like with my VISA, for anything I buy - and we can't fight a price-rip or mistake or challenge our purchase if it's not as advertised - like we can with VISA. AmEx HOPES you get to $196.84 and toss it instead of finding a way to spend the $3.16 remaining ... Bean-counters and plastic money devalues every thing we earn and spend - But the idea is, REBATE defined is CASH BACK for a purchase we make - NOT a gift card we must spend to get its value. It's one more plastic hustle so the issuer gets a piece of the value ... and more than anything, it's ANNOYING !! Sorry it's so ANNOYING to you. Any time you get a card and don't feel like using it, why not just give it to a charity of your choice.

RE: Sewage in Camper

Totaled-of course Liability-major portion on campground, minor on owner for leaving valve open For the life of me, I do not understand the reasoning(logic) behind the, "leave gray tank valve open" postings. Makes no sense whatsoever, even if gauges are not working. Doesn't take too much effort to flush(open) once a day. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

RE: It's Back! Tank Flushing Tests in the Clear RV Black Tank

Great second series video of the tank cleaning products. No surprises in the results for me since having experience in fluid dynamics I knew what the results would be. As for our MH, the factory installed flush system does a fantastic job, but because of the plumbing set-up, I need to extend the time for flushing. If one wants to be water conserving, install a pump from the gray tank to pump water to a Tornado in the black tank. The end result will be additional cleaning due to the cleaning agents from dish washing and showers being sent to the black tank.

RE: Can you identify this piece of metal?

Wonder if a landing pattern would have the wheels coming down around his location and thus ejecting a broken piece associated with the gear.

RE: Don't have a bucket list, do it now!

For those with the funds and time, you are fortunate. For those lacking funds and time, do the best you can with what you have. There have always been the do it now because you never know soap box speakers, but many have to wait until later and sadly for some, later will never come. Think for a moment about the people in this country and around the World who live in conditions that are totally intolerable yet they continue on with little to no hope of freeing themselves of the circumstances in which they live. Inconceivable to think that it was meant to be or that the tornado causing death and destruction was meant to be. To create and then complete a Bucket List to me is absurd. I don't think that once I am dead I will have regrets of not making that trip to the Grand Canyon before I died. Every night I fall asleep, I have a glorious moment of what my death will be. Absolute peace along with tranquility. If I do not regain consciousness.........

RE: So you like beer after all :)

Also a Yuengling enjoyer, however...... since I am into endurance sports, the alcohol is something I really don't want from a beer so I drink O'Doul's NA after a hard exercise session. The carbs are good for me.

RE: 2 old or 2 fat 2 get fit?

We have been blessed and sufficiently disciplined with our finances so that my wife and I can expect to retire without money being much of an issue. However, if we don't change our ways, our lack of exercise and poor eating habits may end up throwing a curve ball into our plans. Ten years ago I ran my last 26 mile marathon....now a 1/2 mile run might put me into cardiac arrest. Arthritis is starting to remind me of some of the stupid things I have done in the past and it seems that the less exercise I do, the less I want to do. What are you doing to get off the couch? Does eating healthy make you live longer or does it just make you feel like you live longer? In other words would you rather indulge in a life of forbidden pleasure for the short term or prolong a life of discipline and sacrifice? A few months after my 60th birthday on Halloween Day 2010, I began riding my bicycle at 0130 and at 1500 I finished with 200 miles. January 2011 was my first Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend participation completing a 5K, 1/2 marathon and full marathon. Last November it took me 13hr 31minutes to complete Ironman Florida in Panama City Beach. January this year was the WDW Marathon Weekend 5K, 10K, 1/2 marathon and full marathon. IMFL again later this year. Will the actions above and my continued exercise increase my life expectancy? Don't know-don't care. Staying active makes me feel better NOW and that's all that matters. Continuous aches and pains throughout my body are hourly reminders of my age. Knees need attending to, left wrist requires fusion or replacement according to first orthopedic surgeon and in 2 weeks I will be seeing a specialist, right shoulder has needed a total replacement for some time but time off from swimming for recovery is not an option due to Ironman commitment. I eat healthy because it allows me to exercise at a high level of effort caring not if it extends my life. As far as the saying, better than the alternative, not sure of that. Don't believe in heaven but according to those that do, it's supposed to be really nice so why would anyone want to stick around with all the ills that exist in this world! I have plans not to be around slowly degrading becoming a shell of myself requiring assistance from others to simply exist.

RE: Loud explosion while backwashing black tank

I understand you should always open the fresh water fill inlet on the side of the RV if filling the tank from the city water hook-up. This is supposed to keep from pressurizing the water tank and doing damage. Pretty sure there should be NO CONNECTION between black tank and any fresh water fill!!!!! We're talking bio-hazard here.

RE: How did you handle spouse retiring?

Retirement and dealing with the nuances accompanying this new stage in life can be overwhelming or as simple as it is what it is. THIS was our wedding song and a daily reminder of what our life together has been for soon to be 41 years and will be. My wife allowed me to semi-retire 14 years ago and fully retire a year ago. My task for years has been to provide as much freedom for her as possible by taking care of all household jobs and I will continue to due so after her retirement. I don't foresee a being underfoot situation arising since we know each other's spaces, respect them and yield to them. Individuality and accepting it is paramount to a successful life together. Future travel plans are being made in hopes of making them come true, but one never knows. Good luck.
