50 amp service

I`am currently at a camp ground hooked into 50 amp service.I would have thought that i could run every thing with no worry of tripping a breaker. This is not the case. The fridge is on electric,as is the hot water heater, and of course my 15,000 btu AC.All is fine with just these running with a couple of lights and the TV.I have one of those portable ice makers as well. With every thing else running and the ice maker kicks in I will trip the breaker for the AC.I also have a washer/dryer I haven`t tryed to use that yet with the other stuff running, but I`am thinking the same thing will happen. Are all 50 amp services the same??It doesn`t seem so in my case.Any thoughts???

RE: Diesel Regrets?

Nope best move I ever did was get a desel truck.Just drove from Philly to Florida and having the power to tow my some what heavy 5er was a walk in the park.I do my own oil and filter changes,so I guess I do save a little on that part of ownership.I will never go back to a gas truck.

RE: Refrigerator Drain?

My drain tube goes out in one of the slots of the outside fridge cover.I`am not sure if this is standard on all fridges.

RE: 12 volt light not working

Might want to check the ground on that particular light.
Theirs what i did.I removed the light fixture. The switch has two post coming out of it.I pulled one wire off one of the post and touched the other post, and the light worked. So I know I have power.I just kind of fiddled around with the switch and put back the wires to the two post and its now working.Reinstalled the fixture, flicked the switch and it continues to work.I have no idea why it is working now.But I guess don`t look a gift horse in the mouth right.

RE: 12 volt light not working

The bulb could look ok and still have an issue. Swap the bulb with a working one. Then in the mean time you might want to swap complete fixtures with one that is working since this is your most use position. Most 12 volt rv lights can be found online or a local rv store. Maybe not the exact replacement but something that will work. If you want a great upgrade replace it with a fluoresent light.
I did as you said and swaped out both lights with working ones.Still doesn`t work. The ones I took out worked in the other light fixture.

12 volt light not working

My 12 volt light above the dinning room table isn`t working now.All the other 12 volt lights work fine.I pulled one bulb out and it doesn`t look burned out from what I can tell.I`am wondering if it could be the switch??If so where could I pick up a replacement? As fate would have it this 12 volt light is the only one I use on a regular basics.Even getting the whole light replaced would work for me.Any thoughts on what it could be???

RE: Living on the New Jersey Turnpike

Hmmm I`am headed down to Florida in 3 days I wonder if I too should give my credit card companies a call and advise them on my travels.Thats all I need to be in the middle of Virgina and get denied fuel.I don`t usually carry a lot of cash.I guess it can`t hurt to call, but what a pain in the butt.

RE: What kind of mud flaps do you use?

My mud flaps are attached to the 2 inch receiver hitch. The brand is "Enkay".Really made to last and they are adjustable.Does make a big difference in keeping the bottom front of the 5er clean.

RE: Winter camping at NYC

I`am guessing you checked to make sure the camp ground is even open.I`am surprized it is,most up north here close long before February. And if by chance it is open I can tell ya their will be NO water at the camp ground. You`ll need to supply your own(fresh holding tank)For only a couple of days you should be able to survive, barring that theirs not a major snow storm.February in the northeast is bitterly cold 85% of the time.

RE: Do you miss your stick built house?

I just closed on my house August 21.Been living in the RV at work until I retire in 4 weeks.I don`t miss the property taxes, nor the school taxes,or the county taxes.I don`t miss cutting the grass,I don`t miss every thing else that goes along with home ownership.
And last but not least will NOT miss the cold winters in Philly as I`am heading down to Florida October 2nd.

RE: 5th airborne sidewinder

RVJohn. what kind of hitch did you go with on your short bed truck..did you go with the standard or a glider
I have a silder hitch, came with the 5er in the package. But now their is never ever a need to use the slider. In fact I have it set up where I can`t use it in case I have a brain freeze moment.
