RE: post pictures of your HTT
Just finished setting up WDH and now on our way to Mt. Madonna for the shakedown cruise:
That's a great looking trailer! I really like the exterior color scheme of those. So much nicer than the typical boring white. Best of luck on your shakedown cruise!

RE: How does one seam seal a roof if you cant walk on it?
10 pounds, that's so funny. :B I had one person at the Jayco factory say walking on the roof is fine, and another one from Jayco said it's probably safe, but better to use a board.
It's like all the discussions on capacities of trailers. It always makes me laugh. Roof, cargo, truck, etc. Especially when it turns into adding the extra weight of a toaster or something.
Now before someone chastises me for not following weight rules, I do and I don't condone anyone not following the capacities of their truck or trailer myself included.
But, reading weight discussions over the years, you would think that a trailer has a pressure switch in it and once you reach the weight limit, adding a newspaper will cause it to explode.
With a roof, I do realize snow is evenly distributed, but with 2 feet up there, I bet I've had a good ton of weight on the roof. Same with the dealers lots.
It's the same with cargo capacity, towing capacity, etc. With lawsuits and litigation being what they are, there are significant margins built into all of that. That's why the same truck or SUV has different towing capacities outside of the USA and Canada.
I don't carry much, because I just don't have a need to, but If I were go 20 lbs over my trailers cargo capacity, it isn't going to set off sirens and collapse to the ground. it's going to act the same as it did without that 20 lbs.

RE: How does one seam seal a roof if you cant walk on it?
I used to walk on mine, but after reading here I use boards to distribute weight. Of course then there is the snow. I've had 2 feet of snow on mine just like all the dealers in this part of the country.
I do realize that snow load is evenly distributed and better than walking on it, but still.

RE: washing dishes-is grease and food safe down sink drain?
We have always treated out RV sink like our home sink.
Most residential sinks have a grease trap. RV's don't.
Maybe new construction these days, but not most. Commercial kitchens have grease traps, but at least around here just regular sink traps are the norm - Same as the trap in my camper.
That said, I don't dump grease in my home sink, so I wouldn't in my camper either.

RE: Who here cooks inside camper or Outside camper?
I never understood the concept of not using the stove because of smell or keeping it clean. That would be like me cooking everything in my back yard at home because I don't want my house to get dirty or smell. Trailers have windows and fans just like home. same for the trailer bathroom.
I bought it to use it ;-)
For camping, if it's a grill type food I cook on a gas grill outside just like at home. Any stove top foods, baked foods or microwave food gets cooked inside just like home.
We don't really eat much fried foods anyway, so grease splatter isn't an issue. For the occasional bacon, I buy the precooked kind and either microwave it or warm it up in a pan

RE: Jayco X20E TV shelf question
My Jayco have the same refrigerator shelf for the TV. The difference on mine is where you have a microwave next to yours, I have a cabinet with the stereo.
Anyway. I mounted a swing arm mount through the side of the cabinet. Instead of just screwing it to the side of the cabinet, I drilled holes and used machine screws with nuts and washers inside the cabinet. To make sure it was strong enough, I added a 1/8 inch aluminum plate inside.
So if you went that direction, you would remove the microwave to gain access to the inside of that cabinet and mount the swing arm TV mount with bolts through that wall.

RE: Shopping Jayco Jayfeather Hybrid -Thoughts?
So if one lives in CA where the prices are higher.... what does one do?
Sigh.
Well, there's 2 choices. Either pay the higher price or travel to where the prices are lower....A lot lower.
Seriously though. I highly recommend that you get a quote for a new trailer online from either rvdirect.com or rvwholesalers.com. Even if you have no intention to buy new, but just for reference.
You'll be amazed how much cheaper a new trailer can be bought for. Usually a minimum of 30% off sticker and sometimes more.
People that have bought from them and traveled the distance to pick it up have found that even with the cost of the trip, they still came out thousands ahead. And many make it a first camping trip.
In my case, I got a great quote from RVDirect but a local dealer matched the quote. I bought a new Jayco 17Z for $12,900 and the sticker was around $18,500.....Of course I don't live in California so it was easier for a dealer to match the quote.

RE: Cleaning Tent ends.
If yours is the standard vinyl covered canvas like mine, Mr Clean Magic erasers work great for cleaning it. It also removed the black stuff on my white awning. And for the record, white is a bad color for an awning LOL.

RE: Hybrid Seasonal Tips/Tricks?
I've never done seasonal, so I'm only speculating based on what I think I would do. I don't see the big deal about turning water off, securing things or even folding the bunks?
Water takes what, 3 seconds as you pass by the valve? Even the bunks should only take a few minutes. There isn't any pulling in, leveling, and all that traveling stuff and the inside doesn't need to be made travel ready.
RE: exterior refrigerator fan
I've never had an issue keeping mi fridge cold, but I wonder how something like this would work. Or if it would be worth it.

RE: Hybrid Seasonal Tips/Tricks?
I would use a hybrid as a seasonal if I needed to. But I would never leave the beds out while I'm gone for more than a couple days.
Besides the fact that I can open or close them in minutes by myself, there are other issues.
First, I don't think the canvas would last as long deployed for months at a time even with PUGs.
Second, if there's a tree anywhere around it, the odds are greater for a something to fall on it in storms. It can happen while camping, but open all summer increases the odds.
Third is security. I realize the cheapo door locks won't stop anyone, but the canvas could be more inviting to theft or damage.
Lastly, animals are more likely to damage the canvas when nobody is there for lengths of time
RE: Questions on the fridge in my hybrid?????
My fridge is basically the same as yours. The freezer inside keeps ice frozen solid and will freeze something unfrozen just like home.
Like I said in another post, since I keep my camper home the camper is plugged in and on from the first trip of the year to the last. I keep my propane tanks on and when I unplug from electric to hit the road, it automatically switches to propane and stays just as cold on the road.
I leave some things that wont expire between trips. The trailer is by my big shed near the driveway and I've been know to go in there for a soda or beer when working outside.
I don't think they even use three-way fridges except maybe the little ones in popups anymore.
For travel, I have two little spring bars made for the fridges to hold things steady in there. You can get them online or even Walmart which is where I got mine.
I like things cold and keep the fridge on about 7 in the hot summer. We;re going camping for the weekend today and it's been set on 6 with the 70 degrees we have now. I do have a battery operated fridge fan in there that I think keeps the inside a more even temp with less cold and warm spots.
With these fridges, you don't want to keep the door open getting stuff out as long as you can at home since they're not as powerful as home fridges with fans and compressors.

RE: Need Mattress measurements 2003 Star Craft 21rb
That sounds right to me. Yes, the mattress is two foam pieces inside the cover, one for each half. It ends up being hinged by fabric in the middle so it can fold and sit on the bunk shelf when the bunk door is closed.
Well, in my case it's two even halfs. On yours, one side is wider than the other so it doesn't fold exactly in half.
Ray
RE: Need Mattress measurements 2003 Star Craft 21rb
I am confused by what the 1/3 fold means. Sorry but i am new to this style camper.
How do you like your 03? I just bought mine from a repo lot and got a killer deal in my opinion. Inside is like new. I found some water damage on the door side...underneath the camper behind the rear wheel. Looks like where water would hit as you drive down the road from flying off the wheel. Not sure how to repair yet.
Some fold right in the middle like mine and some fold off center. If you measure, you should do it from inside. The 80 inches long ways seems right, but I think most mattresses are wider than the door itself. Usually the mattress is the full depth of the door plus the mattress extends past the door on the inside and sits on the shelf or ledge.
RE: world friendship wf-8735-p converter. this any good?
One thing to keep in mind is if you don't have a battery disconnect, a charged battery will drain in a couple days with nothing on since their are thing that draw current all the time like the CO/propame detector, radio, etc.
In my case since I keep my camper at home I never worry about "when to unplug the trailer". During the camping season I plug in the trailer and turn on the refrigerator. That way during the camping season I don't bother unloading and repacking certain things each trip. I just keep things right in there like some drinks, frozen hot dogs and burgers, condiments, etc.
Food goes from my truck to the camper the day before a trip or so and never has to get carried into the house.
I just check the water level in the battery weekly. When I hook up to go camping I unplug the trailer and the fridge switches over to propane automatically and we head out.
We mostly camp at full hookup campgrounds though, so I don't worry about battery capacity.

RE: new battery charger...please help!!!!
Yes, what Bikendan said. The Jayco will charge the battery by itself as long as you have an outlet to plug the camper into. Slower than a good charger like a 40 amp, but if you aren't in a hurry, the camper keeps it charged when plugged in.

RE: Anyone here own a Jayco hybrid? setup question
Different years may be different. On my 2010 Jayco 17Z I don't have snaps or anything to hold the mattress down to the bunk door, but I still leave the mattress on when closing it.
Hmmmmm.... my 2010 17Z has the straps on both bunk ends.
My wife usually folds the mattress with the pole between the halves. At the same time I am outside tucking in the canvas and closing the door. Much easier with two people. If I were lone I'd have to close he door first, then come back inside to fold the mattress and strap them to the inside of the bunk end door.
Oh, I have them too. I was talking about the snaps that some hybrids have that holds the mattress down to the bed itself. Sounds like our procedure is pretty much identical to yours.
Ray
RE: Anyone here own a Jayco hybrid? setup question
Question to Jayco owners.....is it the norm to have to remove the mattresses before closing up?? I was under the assumption that they worked similar to the ROO, but it's entirely possible that I was wrong. It's happened before, lol.
Hi DadMomh
Different years may be different. On my 2010 Jayco 17Z I don't have snaps or anything to hold the mattress down to the bunk door, but I still leave the mattress on when closing it.
I just fold the mattress in half and close the door. The canvas is fully attached. The aft bunk is behind the bathroom wall so the wall holds it in place. The front one I just hook the straps firs to hold it when closing the bunk door.
