RE: LED Strip Light Warning

So how are the lights mounted and how do you route the power cord so its not waving in the wind?

RE: Raise 5th wheel ground clearance

Might want to upgrade leaf springs while you have everything apart. I had a 2004 Newmar Kountry Star and the springs had lost all arch when I traded in 2011. Randu

RE: differences in mpg when towing

Many variables but wind is the biggest with speed and gas brands 2nd and 3rd.
Unscientific but this has been my general experience.
Wind- biggest with my MPG as low as 6.5 and as high as 9 depending on direction and wind speed.
Speed - I tried 60 mph for a few trips and the average was a .4 mpg gain over rolling at 70 or whatever traffic was doing. I did not like being a rolling road block and am much more comfortable at 65 to 70 depending on traffic.
Gas-Changing gas brands caused on average a difference of .5-.8 mpg. I get best with Shell or Exxon. Worst with Sam's Club and Murphy plus a slight knock. BP, Speedway, and Citgo OK.
Your experience may vary. Randu

RE: From a class A to a 5th wheel

I have had many 5th wheels and have test drove a few motorhomes and each time come out saying I love my truck. Do you know of anyone the has a 5th wheel that you can ride along with and then drive? Nothing like getting some seat time to feel the differences for yourself. For me I like the quiet of the truck and not hearing squeaks of walls and general body flex of motor homes. Randy

I have found that it reduces some of the smaller bugs but medium size splat as normal. Have one on Wifes truck as she is on highway every day. Randu

RE: rope lights

Gives just a soft light to see around the campsite and dosn't attract bugs to the doorway like the porch or normal awming lights. Randu

DirecTV and Verizon Mi-Fi is what we have.
Exact same thing and very happy. We don't fulltime yet but RV many extended weekends. Nice to have all the same channels in the RV at every campground. Randu

RE: blocking up camper to compensate for slope

From what I'm visualizing, If you use blocks at the wheels, the rear stabilizers will also need many blocks as I'm visualizing the rear way up in the air if the front needs to be lowered so much. If the side to side is fine, I would not do anything at the wheels. Have you started with the landing gear retracted and then extend the extensions to within a inch of the ground? There is usually a ton of adjustment within the gear that many people don't realize. The more you block, the more wiggles you can get. Randu

RE: Walmart overnighting with a 5th wheel

I do it many times during colder months. The living room slides do cover the vents but the bottom of the slide is 1" or just a bit more above the carpet so more than enough clearance for the heat to travel under the slide. Randu

RE: Full tank of Propane=How many days of usage?

I'm camped in Holland (15 miles south of Grand Haven) and it will be cold tonight with predicted temps in low 30's. High Friday about 56-Sat 65 and Sun 70. Low 40's rest of weekend at night. Do you have a electric heater to supplement the furnace? I never owned a hybrid but I'm asuming that it will not retain heat real well. I bet you get the weekend out of 1 tank if you bring along a electric heater to supplement. Also depends on how much you layer clothing and blankets at night and if you heat to 64 or 84. A second tank as a back up would be good so you have heat just in case. Randu

RE: OHIO RALLY GROUP 2013 SCHEDULE

Decided to bail out of work at noon and start the long weekend TODAY :B Left Jackson at 2:00 with high humidity and 78. Arrived at Lake MI at 4:30 with fog and 60. Now at 8:00 its down to 50 and fog so thick that I can only see 4 sites down. Maybe I should have stayed at work. :S Of course someone is on my site for the weekend so I will need to move in the morning but I guess it still is better than working. Randu

RE: Lynx levelers harm tires??

That's why I use these ones...I was wondering why everyone was talking about the hole??????? These ones even have an attachable wheel chock and support 30K lbs...
leveling blocksYep, those are the ones I use because of the flat top. But the Lynx are less brittle and will not crack and break like the yellow ones. I've broken several of the yellow ones when using them on very uneven grounds.
Those are the exact ones that I had that kept breaking. Been at least 7-8 years ago so was foggy on exactly which ones I had. Randu

RE: Lynx levelers harm tires??

I had a set and I broke 1/2 of them. Switched back to wood and have a better footprint and wood don't crush. (splits once in a while but no crushed pieces to pick up) I use different pieces of 2X8. Randu
On edit maybe mine were not Lynx but a cheaper knock off sold at CW. They were yellow and had a flat top and not as much webbing compared to the pictures posted after my post. Randu

RE: How can I tell if rv roof is EPDM or TPO

TPO is very smooth when clean almost glass like smooth. EPDM has a slight to moderate texture. TPO has like a vinyl surface bonded to the rubber. Randu

RE: My CampingWorld Experience So Far....

I have found many small Mom and Pop RV stores are priced better than CW on the average. Got charged $7.00 for a replacement latch on vacation and then found one at my local small guy for 3.25. That was the last CW adventure. Also many on line sources as I got a P3 brake controller from Amazon $70.00 less than CW and it includes a wiring harness for easy plug and use. I enjoy this forum and realize that it is owned by the CW group but some of the management practices at both a corporate and store level are just plain bad. End the pain and just take your business someplace where you are treated like a real person.
