RE: Lazydays Florida expands

The food is still free if you are staying at their campground or doing true business with LD. You are given a coupon for your free meals. LD had to do something because they were feeding allot of people that just came for the free meals and had nothing to do with LD or RV'ing at all.

RE: Tampa RV Show

Will be there Wednesday though Monday....looks like it is going to cool off and only be in the low 70's all week.....that will make it more enjoyable walking around

RE: Used Class A - Does Age Matter?

Yes you should be concerned about which used coach you select. Several manufactors have had issues during the model years you are looking at and you need to be aware of those issues and either shy away from those coaches or be prepared to have those known issues fixed, often times on your dime.

RE: Large RV sales centers

I think your best bet is try and decide what you are looking for. I would guess you have a pretty good idea what brand and floor plan you want already. Then contact several of the larger dealers and let them know what you are looking for and give them your contact info....many of the larger dealers like Lazy Days of course get many used RV's on trade but they also buy a lot of used motorhomes via auction prices from other smaller dealers that just don't have the room or don't have the cash flow to keep many used RV's on their lots....places like PPL will have allot of used RV's but most are under consignments via private owners which opens up a whole new set of issues if you have a trade in.

RE: Large RV sales centers

Well it would help if we knew what you were looking for in a motorhome.... Just because its a big dealer does not mean they have what you are looking for on the lot......Anyway sticking with Florida you have North Trail RV. They normally have a larger selection of used RV's...... Not sure if Texas is within the area you are looking but you have both Motorhome Specialist and PPL .... There are several others in between. On the east coast, Bill Plemmons has several locations in NC etc.

RE: Tiffin Phaeton discount

Yep Tiffin does not have a huge built in mark up like some other coach builders ...That 23-25% is about the going rate in the market place for the model you are looking at.

RE: Is It Still True?

For us it came down to what felt like home. We looked at both fiver's and class A's. I never came across a class A that felt like home, and since we are full timers that was important to us. There are trade-offs. Sometimes I wish I had the comfort of traveling in an A, but we seldom drive more than 200 miles a day so not really a big deal. We do not travel in the rain. We will just wait it out and go when the rain stops, therefore; we never have to worry about setting up in the rain. We travel a lot, so we have a lot of experience at setting up and breaking down and it doesn't take us long at all. At the end of that day, I am very happy to have my spacious fiver to relax in. It is what works for us. Happy travels. :) There you go!!!! I think that is the key... "Whatever feels like home to you" For us it is a class A. The wife and I both wanted the residential fridge and smooth top electric range. Plus the large tile shower and other residential upgrades you can find on many class A's that you can't find on most 5th wheels. Both class A's and 5th wheels have good and bad points, you just have to decide which one fits you best.... Sure a 5th wheel being towed by a F350 or F550 can be a pain, but no different then a 45 foot class A with a toad. For us what sold us on a class A was the thought of never having to leave our home, not even when traveling. It's all right there behind our seats so everything is accessible. Living room, kitchen, bed room and bathroom.....in a 5th wheel all those rooms are only accessible if you pull off the road. So for us the added security and ease of a class A far out weighed any 5th wheel on the market

RE: Opinions on newmar Dutch Star vs.Entegra Aspire

Both are nice coaches built by the two best builders in the market place in their price points IMO ... I would have to give Entegra a slight edge in both options and quality... And as stated you can't beat the Spartan chassis. The two year warranty that Entegra offers is also a big plus.

RE: Shower stall size

I shopped every coach out there and the first thing I looked at in every coach was the shower. I am 6'4 and yes many of the showers being offered are a joke ..... Look at the Entegra brand, they have some of the largest showers in the industry... Both the wife and I can shower at the same time in them and still have room to move around......

RE: 2013 Entegra Anthem

We needed the single middle bathroom floorplan due to friends sometimes traveling with us - didn't want people having to come thru our bedroom while we slept to shower. I did my homework and Entegra customer service and quality of the entire coach is what sold us. My husband was standing beside the bathroom at the water bay and I was trying to get his attention from inside. He heard me knocking on the wall but couldn't hear me talking at all! Great insulation! The quality of the cabinets, appliances, furniture - just every detail is impressive. The storage capacity inside and out is incredible! Yes the 44DLQ is a nice floor plan, the only problem is you can't get to the bedroom with the slides closed.... That seems to be a big issue to some people so it appears Entegra will be changing that floor plan for the 2014 model year

RE: 2013 Entegra Anthem

Glad you like your Entegra but sorry I quit reading your post after you said you bought your new coach last week and have already been to Cummins FOUR times

RE: Parking My RV in the Side Yard

Plus I would double check with your city... I was told it was OK also but then shortly after I was told nothing over 6 feet in height could be parked in my side yard.... Don't believe what someone on the other end of the phone tells you. I would research the code and get a copy of it before you start doing any improvements

RE: 40 ft phaeton vs 42ft phaeton with tax axil

Once you drive a tag axle coach you will never want to drive anything else ever again. Huge difference in handling from a non tag coach

RE: What is the big upkeep of the diesel everyone is mentioning?

Does a DP cost more then a gasser to maintain, sure it does... No different then saying a Corvette cost more then a Chevy Cruze to maintain... You can't compare apples to oranges and that is what you are trying to do when you compare a gas motor home to a DP....if you have to worry about the cost that much.... Just stick with camping in a tent... Not really a helpful response. To those of us who have gassers, used to the maintenance costs and upkeep of them and considering buying a DP, it's a very valid question. Do I not only want to pony up for the initial cost and then further incur more maintenance costs and if so what are they? Posts like these are just unhelpful and annoying. Some folks on this forum realize the wealth of information and enjoy the knowledge of those that have been there and help by sharing it. Sure it is a helpful response, just as much as any other reply..... Simple there is no one answer except yes it cost more to maintain a DP over a gas unit..... Period.... End of story..... Now if you are looking for how much more, we'll then you have 6 pages of relies and still climbing because everyone is different, everyone drives differently, everyone maintains their coach differently etc.....so again the simple answer is yes it cost more.... How much more is like asking for an exact number of stars in the sky..... It can't be answered.. There is enough post with just DP owners debating other DP owners over the maintaince cost of their rigs.... Trying to compare gas to diesel is even more questionable.

RE: Choosing a Class A

Travel Supreme is out of business, Jayco bought the rights to TS and now market the coach under the Entegra brand....TS is a very nice high end coach.... Entegra is right up there with Newmar as they use hung wall construction also. I am not a fan of Tiffin at all but you will find that Tiffin does has a huge following. If you are thinking about a Tiffin bus make sure the roof rails, wet bay and slide floors have been re-done or you will be spending weeks if not months at their plant in Red Bay Alabama getting those items repaired.

RE: Country Coach or Tiffin Phaeton

It's up to you but remember if you get the Tiffin you can expect to have the roof rails, wet bay and possibly the slide floor replaced..... Bottom line in CC is a huge step up from a Tiffin

RE: Tiffin

I think I will skip Tiffin and go with an American coach. Maybe a Eagle, they seem to be the best coach made for many years now. The Eagle is a nice coach but it must have the smallest shower of any coach in that price point.. That was the deal breaker for me

RE: Tiffin

Tiffin is an RV you either love or hate..... People love them because Bob Tiffin will fix most the issues on his dime, people hate Tiffin because all the problems they seem to have.... the choice is yours to either love them or hate them....

RE: what do you do for a hurricane?

You can also download the Red Cross hurricane app. It is free and works off of the GPS in your phone. It sends you any weather alerts for your area
