RE: Why does my awning stay wet??

For those of you that have awning that roll "under", are they electric? If so, that sometimes happens if you hold the button in too long - it will go to the end and then keep going, essentially reversing itself. Try to roll it all the way out, and keep going and it should roll back the "right way"

RE: Prodigy P2

That Max Brake system sounds interesting. Seems odd I've never heard of it before - maybe it's the price? Then again $350 isn't too unreasonable compared to what people pay for a good hitch.

RE: Keystone Outback Loft (2 story TT)... What ever happened?

I thought it was a great idea. But, with 6 kids even the loft didn't give us enough space. My wife wasn't fond of the "master BR" being a garage, I thought that with the use of an area rug it was a great use of space. Having come from a HTT background I did have questions about how secure the canvas is/was at the bottom. And yes, I did have one son push another right out of one of the bunks on our hybrid - even though the snaps and velcro were sealed. The fall out of the bunk was bad enough, off the top of the TT would be really rough ;)

RE: How much more $ would you pay for covered storage?

We pay $54 / month for open storage. The place has covered storage for a bit over $100. Either option comes with use of a wash area, dump station and an on site quit compressor. Its secure, with a fence, cameras, an individual access codes so they can tell who comes in when.

RE: Slide outs good or bad?

We've got 3 on this TT, wish we had 4 LOL. Then again, we have 6 kids, so we have at least 8 on every trip - the slides make it very comfortable, even in situations like yesterday when we were camping in Destin with storms for most of the day. We had 2 in our last TT, and had no issues either. Only advice I will give is make sure they are clear before bringing them in, especially if you are under trees (you don't want to damage the seals by retracting them with a fallen branch in there) and make sure you know how to retract them manually, just in case.

RE: Bal X chock question

I use 2 and also use the plastic ones as well. This way if someone decides to try and steal the chocks hopefully they'll leave the plastic ones.

RE: They will steal anything

Same thing happened to me last spring. Stole a Jayco 32BHDS with a Hensley Arrow hitch. I watched the bastard on the video surveillance tape - drove right to it, took a couple of minutes to enter hook up and / or remove the hitch and drove away. He did his homework and avoided most of the cameras so although we could see him and his truck we couldn't I'D him or make out the trucks plates Thank goodness for insurance. I also recommend gap coverage if its a financed TT. We really like our new Jayco, but even with the insurance and filing a homeowners claim it still coat us thousands I can't stand thieves!

RE: Bunk house question/opinion

Ours has plenty of room in the BH, as a matter of fact it sleeps all 6 of our kids comfortably. Probably more than what you are looking for, but there are options like what you describe - just be patient and stick to what you are looking for.

RE: Sway How to Prevent?

I've had both a Hensley Arrow (on my last TT) and a ProPride on my current TT and both work great for eliminating sway. However, neither is cheap.

6 is great - busy & chaotic, but I wouldn't change a thing. Shot you a PM.

RE: Anyone upsize to a 30' and wish they hadn't?

Ours has a 32 foot box, and is about 35' in total length. I have only had a couple of times where length was an issue camping. Frequently, having slides on opposing sides causes more of an issue than length. I've had to park the Excursion elsewhere before because the TT is long, but with 6 kids I'd rather deal with that than to be packed in on top of each other.

RE: If you've got 3 or more kids...

Ranger 431, I looked at your sig and I see that you have a true control brake controller. I had one of those too, in fact I had two. I gotta ask, how's that working out for you? My experience with that controller is not so good. How long have you been using it, did you use it in your Armada? Yes, we used it on the Armada and the EX,worked fine on both TV's. If you have any specific questions please feel frr to PM me as well.

RE: Hensley Arrow hitch vs Pro Pride 3 hitch

I've had both and they both and they both work very well. I had a a HA on my last TT and went with the PP on this one. IMO the advantages of the PP are that the stinger is adjustable, its a little more forgiving (because its a little shorter), and you don't have to drill into your TT frame. Both companies are great to deal with and neither hitch allows sway or anything less than a great ride. I would be comfortable with either, but would have one of these 2 for sure.

RE: Power awning or manual???

Everyone needs to find what works for them, but I.sit.under ours in the rain as well - the only time it comes in is for big storms - which I would roll.in manual awning for too.

RE: If you've got 3 or more kids...

Iv had and towed with both an Armada and my current Ex. Obviously the Ex is the better TV for a big TT, but the Armada is a very good TV as well, quite possibly the best half ton out there. We have 6 kids (plus a Golden Retriever) and were on the fence between the Ex and a E250/350 van when ee upgraded from the Nissan. I really liked the idea of the extra room of the van, but 4wd was also a must. Couldn't find any good Quiggly options either. Ended up with the Ex in my Sig and love it. The RAS helps offset the (too) soft rear springs. I don't regret the Ex a bit, its a great truck.

RE: Power awning or manual???

Our 1sr HTT was manual and it was fine. Our second was poweted, but not adjustable. Thankfully it wasnt one with the cost pitch, and I loved it. Not having the side bars was great. My current TT has a power awning, and has adjustable pitch and its great. Can put it out flat on sunny days, can slope it on rainy days - head and shoulders the way to go.

RE: Pro Pride Hitches

Ditto to all said above. I've had a PP and a Hensley, both great. Wouldn't tow a rig my size without one. Sean @ ProPride is great to deal with.

RE: Firewood and a SUV or van

For quick weekend trips I just throw it in a few big Rubbermaid totes. My weekend trips are usually within an hour, so I don't worry about bugs and such. For trips and longer or further I buy locally.

RE: Bath Towels

That's a question I wish I had a better answer for. Having 6 kids - 4 of whom.are daughters and a wife - we use some towels. We always seem to have more towels than we have bars to hang them on in the bathroom. If we are in state parks or places without restrictions, we have an aluminum folding clothes rack that is great. The ladder on the rear of the camper is great too. Whenever we do hand them outside, once they are dry they come back in. Don't want to have an afternoon shower soak them or have any walk off. If we can't hang things outside we can use the folding rack in the rear bunkhouse while we are outside - I just point the AC vent right at it to help move air across them. Hope this helps.
