When we trade our 28ft flat nosed TT for a 36ft 5th with the contoured nose and weighing almost twice as much, I noticed about a 2 mpg difference to the good in mpg. I also noticed the truck doesn't work as hard to keep the 5th moving down the highway.
This is what I found after finding my windows and radio straight wired (on all the time) leading to 2 dead batteries. its a simple fix and by-passes the battery saver all together. Scroll down a little to find directions with pictures. This guy did an excellent write up.
We've spent our last two vacations there. 9 days during the 4th of July last year and 10 this year. Already reserved for next year, so yes you can spend a week there. Just remember you will be on Tybee time , which means a laid back Jimmy Buffet kind of lifestyle. If that's want you are looking for, then you will enjoy every minute. If you want the faster pace with things to do every 15 feet, then this is not the place for you. About the only thing about the campground I'm not crazy about are the bath houses. But I've only been to one park that I could honestly say I loved the bath house.
Update on the warranty work. They had our unit for just over 2 weeks. Everything was repaired to our satisfaction. When we dropped the unit off, it was Sunday so the service dept. was closed. I left the key with the young lady at the front counter with my name and number on it. The next day I got a call form our salesman as well as 2 different people in the service department. One called to let us know that they could not start repainting the front cap until the following week. The second called to confirm other repairs that were needed. They called us at regular intervals to give us updates as to the progress of repairs and were willing to wait on us if we were going to be after 5 picking up our unit on the scheduled day. I can't say if everyone has experienced this type of service at this particular Camping World, but our experience has been wonderful
I've read the negative posts about experiences with Camping World and would like to post something positive. My DW and I bought a new 5th wheel from their Savannah location today and all I can say is the service and the sales process we're handled very well.
While not the nicest CW we've been in, the staff more than made up for it in friendliness and courtesy. They answered all of our questions and repaired most of the issues we found (and even some we missed)before we left the lot. We will have to return the unit in a few weeks for some warranty work, so we will have to see how that is handled. We may be some of the lucky few, but we felt like they did everything they could to satisfy the customer.
