My roof is aluminum and for some odd reason, very clean, but when I do wash it I'll use the long handle brush while standing on my scaffold or a tall ladder.
The only reason for the original prep is to get rid of the layers of crud. My MH looked like it had a crackle finish. To get rid of the black mold in the seams and crevices I used a tooth brush and mineral spirits followed by scrubbing the whole rig with BKF and a good wash down with Dawn and a rinse. The final wash with Dawn is very important to get rid of any powder residue from the BKF.
After applying the RMP I did notice, months later, black streaks running down the side after a rain. I simply sprayed it down with plain water and rubbed with the brush. Gone.
When you get back from a trip, from what I read here, just hose down the cab-over front to get rid of the bugs. No scrubbing.
Finally, if you don't wait for the MH to look dull again all you would have to do is wash it down with Dawn and re-apply the RMP.

Sad. It was the pickup drivers fault. Just because a MH is big doesn't make it invincible.
That's for sure.
I was passing a car in the MH on a 6 lane interstate and was going to stay in that lane and pass one more and for what ever reason I decided against it and pulled back into the right lane.
The semi behind me pulled up into the space I left in that lane.
And was struck head on by a small car that careened across 3 lanes down into the median and up into the lanes of the side we were on. Semi was totaled and 6 dead.:(
Within one nano second that could have been me if I had stayed in that lane a second longer than I did. It still sends shivers down my spine just thinking about that day.
You can do everything right and still become a victim on the highways.
One balmy night in 1960 I was in my 1952 or 53 MG-TD convertible, with the top down, heading home from the Hamptons on Long Island. I was traveling westbound on a highway with a very wide grass median separating the east and west bound lanes. As I was climbing a rather large hill I thought "It's 3 AM and I'm the only car on the road, why am I in the left lane? Move over." I started to enter the right lane and while my left rear fender was still in the left lane a speeding car came over the hill eastbound in that lane and narrowly missed me. It was probably some drunk. Later in life I realized that my guardian angel was on the ball that night - and many others.

We lost one last year from rear so I removed the other rear. For now, I've left the front ones on. I can't decide if I want to do as you said and just clean/paint or wait to get fancy simulator that bolts on. All 4 of mine were the cheaper pop on type that looked like a front rim. If I do replace, I want the deep dish simulator for rear that looks like the dually style. For now, we just drive around with the ugly gray rims :(
I bought my stainless steel bolt on simulators from RVwheel. Great people to deal with.

burlmart - Instead of removing all of them, why not remove the remaining hub cap from the same side and leave the remaining two on the other side. I'd prefer leaving them on the passenger side since that's the side you see most often.

My motorhome is in my driveway so I get to it quite often and put a few drops of peppermint oil on cotton balls and place them inside and in the engine compartment. I attached mine to the radiator overflow tube with a wire twister. Peppermint oil can be bought in health food stores or on-line. Or Google "peppermint oil mouse repellent. Other suggestions can be found here.

Yesterday I removed right side aluminum running board, repaired damage best I could, cleaned it up with metal polish and buffed it to a brilliant shine. Today I put the new 2" Skid Proof tape on the running board and re-installed it.
I then removed the left running board but the heat got to me and the rest will have to wait until Saturday. Maybe this time I'll take pictures. I also want to install the two new Co2 detectors, give the Onan it's monthly run and check for Co2 inside the RV. No doubt a Gen-Turi is in my future.

We went to the online Camping World weekend sale and bought a Gen-Turi last Sunday. With the sale price, extra coupon, and free shipping it was only $120. It arrived on Wednesday. DH set it up today and it was simple and works great. Besides removing the CO into the air above the coach, it greatly reduced the generator noise.
Amazon has it for $112.09. No tax, free shipping.
Yesterday I bought two Co2 detectors but haven't installed them yet. I did put a new muffler on the Onan.

As far as I can remember, I bought an extended warranty only once and that was on the last new car that I purchased, a 1984 Toyota Cressida. It so happened that there was a major design flaw in that car. The A/C condenser was made from aluminum but the male fitting on the high pressure hose was steel. When the hose was installed it split the fitting and the R-12 escaped. The original condenser was replaced under the mfg. warranty. The next time it was under the extended warranty and the third condenser cost me but at least I didn't lose money on the extended warranty. :( Even with very little torque on the fitting eventually the fitting would crack, I guess from vibration.
The only other problem I had was that I could never go over 55mph. There would be severe vibration in the floorboard and steering wheel. No amount of balancing by Toyota could solve the problem and they just washed their hands of the problem. Finally I took it to a local tire shop. The front end man put the car on the lift, spun the F/R tire and said "There's one" spun the L/F "That one is OK". When he got to the L/R he said "There's another one". Thankfully the R/R was OK. It turned out that 2 of the Bridgestone tires, which were original, were out of round and there was always one in the front and rear. I replaced them with 2 Michelins but they both suffered thread separation and had to be replaced with another brand. Other than that it was a great car except for the lack of room to place my right foot while the cruise control was on.

I have one in my truck as do the others I travel with. We usually find a channel that is typically not used and leave them there while on the roads.
I and others tried that but the potty mouths with limited vocabulary would find the new frequency and continue their "dirty work". That didn't fly with me when I had my wife and kids in the car. I have at least 3 CBs lying around somewhere for about 30 years. If there are batteries in the walkie-talkies they must be mush by now. :E

Back in the '70s just about everyone had a CB and it really made long trips go by quickly when conversing with other drivers about road conditions or just plain joking around. Then in the '80s the foul language got real bad from those who determined that the CB band was created solely for them and wanted the airwaves for themselves. :M The whip antennas disappeared rapidly and now the potty mouths have the band all to themselves. Maybe the CB band should be renamed Cesspool Band. :@

Let's give credit where credit is due. IVECO is not a chinese company. It was formed in 1975 by a merger of 5 companies operating in Italy, France and Germany. Headquarters is in Turin, Italy. I still would like to know what brand of tires are on this rig.
In Australia, the IVECO is increasingly replacing the Mercedes for Class C's.
I believe Fiat and even Ford are connected with IVECO.

Coach-man, what happens if you use the true deep cycle for starting? The reason that I ask is when I, and probably most others, turn my key to start both my marine battery and chassis battery are hooked together hence I'm drawing from both, albeit for just a short time.

When our motor home was 2 years old, we had the same thing happen, one battery going bad. In our situation, the charger just kept charging and charging because the one battery kept the charger thinking they needed more charging. Though the other battery seemed okay from the beating of getting over-charged, I replaced both anyway. I found larger batteries at Walmart that still fit in my battery tray and 3 years later, all is still well.
I like the Walmarts for a couple of reasons. The design of the top appears to consider boil-over, avoiding or reducing an acid mess. The other nice thing is that in-case of battery trouble, there is always a Walmart close enough to take advantage of the warranty.
We dry camp a lot so we depend heavily on battery capacity. But if you hook up all the time, you could simply take the dead battery off-line and continue to use the good one until it too decides it had enough. That might be years away. Leave the dead one next to the good one and trade them both in when both are done. Many retailers require a trade-in.
Ron, I agree on the WalMart batteries. That's all that I buy for my vehicles and tractor. Die Hard is garbage. Sears will charge big bucks for a 60 month battery that will last you only 2 years or less. They will prorate it and charge you for a new 60 month battery less maybe 40%. 2 years later same thing happens, and the beat goes on. Finally you cut your loss and buy a different brand, meanwhile Sears still has the big bucks you initially paid and then the prorated charges each time the battery failed. In other words, you are paying twice the original cost. I don't know what happened at Sears but when we lived up north we bought just about everything from them except food. That is not an exaggeration. Tools, clothing, motor oil by the case, oil filters, tires that I mounted and balanced at home, appliances large and small, window A/Cs. You name it and it came from Sears. The original battery in my Mercedes lasted 6 years and only Die Hard batteries could match that record. All that was 40 years ago. It's gotten so that if you have a 2 year old Die Hard battery and plan on going on a long trip there's a good chance you'll be stuck somewhere far from home.
Now watch the Sears fans come charging out with their flame throwers.:B

I just installed a completely new brake system and eliminated the RABS. My front right wheel had frozen up and when I took off the caliper and applied air pressure only the bottom piston blew out and hit the 2x4 "backstop". The top phenolic piston stayed in place. Unfortunately the rebuilts have the phenolic pistons. :M
My new M/C is steel. They do make them out of aluminum but I opted out because I was worried about corrosion. I wonder if there are caliper pistons made of aluminum?

I don't think it is necessary. I cover one and the inner sits in the darkness. If you insist then you could buy 2 covers and slit one half way up the middle to fit over the axle. It would be a waste of money, but not mine. :B

Anyway, if you are so naive as to meet a stranger with 15 grand in your pocket you had better be prepared for battle.
My suggestion would be to tell him you want to inspect the RV first and if everything appears to be legit then tell him to meet you at a local bank where you will conduct the transaction (your bodyguard or whatever will be waiting at the bank with the cash and the MH parked outside). Then watch his reaction. :W His reply should be interesting,
