RE: Stepping out

I love my low impact water acerbic class and I call us the jumping jellyfish because we are all gray and moving. Feel so good afterward and it gives me relief from joint pain for several days.

RE: Sweet potatoes...am I late to the game?

I like to put four small pork chops in a small crock pot and add a half cup of liquid like OJ or crushed pineapple and put two clean whole sweet potatoes on top. If the sweet potatoes don't get totally cooked I will zap them for another minute or two. It is really good with cinnamon. It smells so good when we open that trailer door after hours of Bluegrass music.

RE: Dealing with moisture in the fridge

I turn my frig off several hours before we leave it. I dry it out with a Sham Wow as best I can and put margarine tubs of charcoal and some with baking soda around in the freezer and frig. I bought a special wedge that holds the door open from Camping World.

RE: Small Dog Health Issues

RE: Three new tattoos

I was tattooed in '99 with five dots for breast cancer radiation. I went after school daily for 33 treatments. I was a little tired but it was sure easier than the chemo I had in 2010...... that was exhausting. Both approaches worked and I am cancer free again. Best of luck and pamper yourself.

RE: Etiquette query......

To me it seems Ike the distance between sites and the wind would let you know if you can light up. I have an Akorn (green egg knock off) and I love to smell that thing making my food delicious. I say use common sense and enjoy.

RE: The Old Man on his birthday!

My Aussie pound pup is 15 this month. Definitely slower except at feeding time! She still finds me every night to give me a good night lick and then goes to her sleep spot.

RE: Really and old topic

So sorry you and your wife are having these health problems. Will pray for you and the medical staff. We will put our trailer on the market for the same reasons this year and it makes me sad but we are alive and enjoying other activities.

RE: Grits: Is there a "best" brand??

Since our second son was born nearly 39 yrs ago my husband took over cooking breakfast every morning. He has become a great breakfast cook and makes hot cereal most mornings and his grits are very good and full of raisins. I have learned to love grits. I am a lucky lady!

Eye lid surgery

Last Friday my dog with a shunted liver awoke with a growth on her upper eyelid. I didn't think much of it til Monday when she had blood streaming out of it. These shunted dogs have clotting issues so I nearly passéd out when the vet said we would have to remove it. We left her for surgery and it turned out to be the size of a pencil eraser. We picked her back up a couple of hours later and she was not able to stand or swallow for almost 12 more hours. She looks wonderful now and I am so glad we did it but I was scared her system would not heal so quickly. Another miracle at the vet's office. He is such a patient, kind man.

RE: Cheese grater

My Mandolin has a grater head that allows me to grate without knicking my knuckles. I prefer the taste of freshly grated cheese.

RE: Favorite trout recipe?

I mix goat yogurt and the grainy mustard with Old Bay Seafood seasoning and rub that on the fish fillet and then roll it in finely crushed pecans. Spray the whole thing with Pam and pan seer, bake or broil. I was not crazy about fish until I got this recipe from Food TV. I have used flounder, red snapper , cod and talapia and they were all good. I like it with couscous and mixed with onions, garlic, celery and pimento cooked in olive oil.

RE: Thanksgiving Recipes & Ideas for the camper

My son was in training for the Air Force in Biloxi for his first thanksgiving away from home. Before we left I made our dressing in two medium aluminium pans, cooked my turkey and carved it and made the gravy and froze them all so they would not spoil in case we lost power. I cooked the pecan pie in the trailer oven and the green beans in my crock pot. Thanksgiving Day we picked my son and his three friends up and six of us ate a full dinner in a 26 ft. Trailer. All of this took place while we got 8 inches of rain. The three airman had never had a Texas turkey and trimmings so we really enjoyed their memories of home too. With four young airmen there was not a crumb left to eat later.

RE: electric ice tea maker and best brand tea

I boil 1cup of water on the microwave in a 2cup Pyrex measuring cup. Then I add 1 Luzianne family size tea bag and two Bigelo small peach tea bags. It is really good.
