RE: gulf shores rv parks

Yes, it's Southport. I've stayed there for a day or two while waiting to get into the state park, but I wouldn't want to stay any longer. Very noisy with traffic on 59 and over the bridge. Most sites are in an open field, which can get muddy when it rains.

RE: Have a RV furnace ?...must read this

My 5er is in storage but, if my (admittedly weak) memory is correct, I don't have an air intake vent for my furnace on the outside, only an exhaust, which I do have covered with a bug screen.

RE: Sedona in March

Mid-March in Sedona SHOULD be beautiful. But, as noted above, snow and cold weather is possible.

RE: Skyline Drive/Blue Ridge PKWY with a Fifth Wheel

Just drove the southern half of BRP in Sept. with the 5er. The only tunnels that would have given us problems were the southernmost 3-4, the last 50+ miles before entering SMNP. We detoured around that part. Most of the campgrounds will handle big rigs, but the choice may be limited depending on when you get there. The biggest problem we had were the low hanging branches--busted the refrigerator vent cover and lost one of the vent stack caps.

Gulf State Park Tennis Courts

Anyone who is there now or has been recently know if the new tennis courts at GSP, Gulf Shores are finished? I know the pool, store, etc. aren't, but when we left last March it looked the tennis courts should be finished in a matter of weeks.

RE: Pull-outs for pantry

I installed three of these in my pantry--easy to install and not too expensive, $25 at Home Depot.

RE: Info for all Machinist types

Anyone tried Zep 2000? It's a an aerosol penetrating grease. I used it when installing my new Equaflex equalizers and the old nuts (sprayed them the day before) came off without a struggle. My auto mechanic recommended it. Available at NAPA and probably other places.

RE: AVG 9.0 - Free is available now

Well, after continuing to have problems loading web pages, I decided to uninstall 9.0 and reinstall 8.5, but every place I looked only had 9.0 available for download. I tried a system restore, but got the message that no restore was done because no changes had been made (even though the restore point history showed AVG 8.5 being uninstalled and 9.0 installed!). Fortunately, I found a CD with a copy of 8.0 that I had used for installing on a friend's computer. Uninstalled 9.0, installed 8.0 and web pages are loading immediately. If anyone can figure out what the problem was, let me know.

RE: AVG 9.0 - Free is available now

Anybody have any trouble loading web pages after loading AVG 9.0? Things have really slowed down. Seems like AVG may be trying to block the ads, and that's what is taking so long.

RE: N1H1 Swine Flu Vaccine availability en route

If you are a senior citizen, it's unlikely you'll be able to get one. Seniors are very low on the priority list, since it is assumed most will have immunity due to having gone through the previous swine flu epidemic in the 70s.

RE: Dish NOW/YA Prepaid TV Satellite System

Check out FlexTV from Dish. Same type of service, except you have to sign up for a full month at a time, rather than being able to pay for just a few days.

RE: House sprinkler lines - winterize

To answer your initial question, yes, you can attach your compressor to one of the small valves. After draining interior line, shut large valve (on the right in your picture) to prevent compressed air from going back into the house, open the one valve you have the air hose connected to and make sure the other two are closed. Activate each zone in your system one at a time to blow out the water.

RE: How do you winterize your 5ver , Lets compare

A couple of posts have mentioned cracking open the windows or vents. What's the purpose/benefit of that?
Alf
Keeps fresh air circulating, minimizes moisture.

Strongly second the recommendation for World Birding Center and Bentsen State Park. Absolutely fantastic birding there.

RE: DishNow! is over

Check out Dish FlexTV. Not quite as convenient as DishNow, but still does the job for periodic RV use. You pre-pay for a month's service and Dish activates. If you don't pre-pay, service is stopped. When you want to start service again, you pay a $5.00 charge in addition to the first month's charge.

Tenn. 297 into Big South Fork NRA

We are considering visiting Big South Fork NRA after Cades Cove in a couple of weeks. I've heard horror stories about Tenn. 297 entering the east side of the park. Any truth to these stories? I'm pulling a 30' fiver, should I enter from the west side instead? Thanks in advance.
